How do I become involved
in bushcare?
You can become involved in the bushcare program by joining
an existing bushcare group, starting your own bushcare group
or by being part of the bushcare native plant propagation
group.
You can register as a bushcare volunteer by completing
the “Interested in becoming a bushcare volunteer” form.
These forms acknowledge the partnership between you and
Logan City Council. Once Council has received this form the
Bushcare Officer will put you in contact with a group near you.
What is a Bushcare Team
Leader?
As a Bushcare Team Leader, you play an important role in the
conservation of our urban bushland by organising and leading
a bushcare group in the implementation of bush restoration
projects.
Key tasks: liase with the Bushcare Officer, coordinate the
bushcare groups activities including project planning, working
bees, record keeping and meetings.
What skills and attributes
do you need?
An outgoing friendly personality, good organisational
and communication skills and a genuine interest in the
environment.
You also need to be able to commit approximately 4 hours
per month to the program. You will be supplied with all
materials and equipment, nursery facilities, printed material
and have access to the bushcare library.

Key tasks: carrying out
bush restoration projects
including controlling weeds
and planting trees and
monitoring fauna and flora
including observation and
recording.
As a Bushcare Propagator, you play an important role in
the conservation of our urban bushland by being part of an
indigenous plant propagation group in the propagation of
locally collected plant material. Bushcare groups as part of
bush restoration activities will use these propagated plants.
Key tasks: propagate from seed, cutting or other material,
and pot up to tube stock size locally collected plant material.

What’s
involved
Bushcare volunteers work in
Council bushland parks to restore
bushland and/or help to propagate
indigenous plants to be used in
bush restoration projects. These
projects involve:
• Controlling weeds
• Planting native plants
• Identifying and recording native
plants and animals
Bushcare volunteers also have
the chance to undertake a
variety of training courses. These
courses cover topics such as
native plants and animals, weeds,
plant propagation and bushland
?
restoration. Special social events
are also held throughout the year.
What is bushcare?
Bushcare is a community-based program supported by
Logan City Council. Bushcare enables you to play a role in
helping to protect your local bushland.
With over 2000 hectares of bushland to
care for, Council could do with your help!
Who can be a bushcare
volunteer?
Any resident of Logan City can be a bushcare volunteer as
long as you possess one of the following traits:
• Keen interest in caring for bushland
• Enjoy working outdoors
• Keen to learn more about the environment
• Keen to learn new skills
• Like working in a team
• Enjoy meeting new people and making new friends
• Like to meet new challenges
• Like to have fun
