Motivational<br />

<strong>The</strong>atre’s “Inside<br />

Uncle Rosy’s White<br />

House” to Benefit the<br />

disAbility Coalition of<br />

<strong>Talbot</strong> County<br />

On September 27, the Hugh Gregory<br />

Gallagher Motivational <strong>The</strong>atre will present<br />

“Inside Uncle Rosy’s White House: An<br />

Evening with Franklin Delano Roosevelt”<br />

at 7:30pm at the Avalon <strong>The</strong>atre in Easton,<br />

MD. <strong>The</strong> performance is a benefit for the<br />

disAbility Coalition of <strong>Talbot</strong> County and<br />

stars Bob Chancey as the nation’s 32nd<br />

president.<br />

<strong>The</strong> play, written by Carlton E. Spitzer<br />

of Easton, and produced by Motivational<br />

<strong>The</strong>atre, focuses on FDR’s personal challenges<br />

and family life as well as his political<br />

campaigns and four terms as president.<br />

FDR’s role as a model for persons with disabilities<br />

has been debated for more than 60<br />

years. He lost the use of his legs to polio at<br />

age 39 and led the nation through the great<br />

depression of the 1930s and World War II<br />

from his wheelchair, but he prohibited photos<br />

of himself in a wheelchair, or being<br />

lifted from his special train car.<br />

“Motivational <strong>The</strong>atre and the dis-<br />

Ability Coalition have a common goal,”<br />

says Chauncey, “and that is to raise awareness<br />

of disability issues and discrimination<br />

in our society. We’re excited to work together.”<br />
