. Eligibility of the Applicant. The applicant must be a <strong>Bangladesh</strong>i national. Age<br />

limit is maximum 14 years on 1 January at the year of appearance and he/she must<br />

have passed class VI. A candidate can sit for the cadet college admission test only<br />

once. It anyone gets admission sitting for the second time, he/she will be withdrawn<br />

with full compensation when detected and if necessary legal actions will be taken.<br />

4. Educational Activities. Highly qualified and experienced teachers impart lessons to<br />

groom up the cadets. Special appointing committee appoints teachers from the candidates<br />

having at least 2nd class or the equivalent grade both at Honours and Masters level. There<br />

are also teachers with PhD. In cadet colleges cadet-teacher ratio is 10:1. <strong>Cadet</strong>s can use well<br />

furnished laboratory, computer lab, modern language lab and library facilities. Besides,<br />

teachers assist and supervise cadets’ preparatory studies in the class rooms. <strong>Cadet</strong>s’<br />

academic improvements are assessed through fortnight, mid-term, annual and other<br />

examinations (pre-test, test, improvement, model tests, etc).<br />

5. Classroom Teaching and Preparation. Everyday before formal classes, a class of<br />

20 minutes is conducted by the form teacher where cadets are counselled on character<br />

building, self discipline, manners and etiquette.These help to develop intimate teacher-student<br />

relationship and strengthens the bond. Classes are held from Saturday to Thursday. Everyday<br />

there are seven periods except on Thursday when classes continue up to 5th period. The<br />

subjects that are taught are mainly Bangla, English, Mathematics, Economics, Civics, History,<br />

Geography, Religion, Arts and Crafts, Home Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology,<br />

Technical Drawing, Computer Science, etc. <strong>Cadet</strong>s prepare their lessons in the afternoon,<br />

evening and night under the direct supervision of the teachers.<br />

6. Co-curricular Activities. Various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are<br />

conducted to inculcate leadership qualities. These are:<br />

a. Stage Programmes. Inter house stage competitions on various subjects are<br />

held regularly. Competitions include Poetry recitation, Extempore speech, Debate, Set<br />

speech, Qirat, Current affairs, Music and Drama. Besides, individual classes and<br />

houses organize cultural programmes regularly. Both Bangla and English periodicals<br />

and college magazines are published to help flourish the creativity and talents of<br />

cadets. Inter house Bangla and English wall magazines and painting competitions are<br />

also held. <strong>Cadet</strong>s take part in TV debate and other national competitions. The scope of<br />

joining overseas international programmes to represent the country is also open.<br />

b. PT/Drill. Every working morning cadets practice PT/Drill for 30 minutes under<br />

the supervision of College Adjutant (a military officer of the rank of Major).<br />

c. Games and Sports. In the afternoon cadets compulsorily take part in various<br />

games and sports for 45 minutes. Football, volleyball, basketball, hockey, cricket, lawn<br />

tennis, squash, badminton, handball, swimming, obstacle course, cross-country and a<br />

variety of indoor games are in vogue in cadet colleges. Inter house competitions of<br />

these games and sports are arranged. Besides, annual athletics cum final prize<br />

distribution ceremony is held in a befitting manner in presence of the parents, guardians<br />

and other invited guests. Arrangement of inter cadet college literary, music, games and<br />

sports competitions are also regular features.<br />
