Cadet College
1

INTRODUCTION
Cadet colleges are specialized autonomous residential institutions that impart an all round
education to the young learners of the secondary and higher secondary level. Adjutant
General, Bangladesh Army is the ex-officio Chairman of governing bodies, cadet colleges.
There were four cadet colleges before the independence of Bangladesh. Eight more cadet
colleges emerged after the independence with a view to keeping pace with the growing
demand for such type of institutions. Presently there are twelve cadet colleges in Bangladeshnine
for boys and three for girls. Cadet colleges follow the English version national curriculum
prescribed by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB). Cadet colleges also
emphasize on co-curricular activities to bring up cadets’ sound body and mind with breadth of
vision and leadership quality. These special features distinguish cadet colleges from other
institutions. Cadets are proving their worth at home and abroad after the successful
completion of cadet college education.
