East Loddon 30 th Anniversary & Annual Changeover
Last month saw the club celebrating 30 years of Lions in
the East Loddon Community - quite an achievement for
the club, and we still have three original charter
members. A great night was had reminiscing over 30
years of photos and memories. Many past members
joined us for a night of celebration, it was a great chance
for people to catch up.
During the night Lions Barry, Frank T and Ron were
awarded their 30 year Monarchs and Jim was awarded his
20 year Monarch, which caused some confusion since
he’s been in Lions for nearly 25 years. Zone Chairman
Norm Walkington presented these awards along with
years of service awards to all club members. Each
member was also given a book containing 30 years of
history of the club.
PDG Allan Millar installed the new office bearers - in
record breaking time. Frank Tappe gave him a time limit
of three minutes and Allan said he had time left at the
end. Congratulations to our new President, Lion Frank
Tappe, all the best for the coming Lions Year. Lion Ash
Potter and partner Erica Duffy presented our three
remaining charter members with an Honour Board to be
displayed in the Lions Den. This will display the names of
the Presidents, Treasurers and Secretaries for the last 30
years.
A first for the club this year we presented the Inaugural
Citizenship Award. This was presented to Noel Hercus for
his service in the Community. Noel said he knew
something was up when he saw his family and friends
there but had no idea it would be an award. Noel is a
keen supporter of the Mitiamo Football Club and is always
on hand to help out anyone in need. John Forbes spoke
very highly of Noel and everything he has done for him
personally. Congratulations Noel!
Lions Frank Tappe and Barry Schramm were also
presented with the Chris August award for their service to
Lions and their community over the last 30 years.
