Pacific Coast Council was one of the first few Councils that did not charge Leader’s fees. This has now been adopted by Scouts Canada for all Volunteers and Rovers across the country. A large percentage of the membership continues to take advantage of the early registration discount. The year has benefited from the prudence/savings in most departments. Thanks are due to the Council Management and Area Service Teams for the financial restraint they have demonstrated. Recognition is due to the following for their continued financial support of our movement: The Government of British Columbia, The United Way of the Lower Mainland, and the Vancouver Foundation. I would also like to record my appreciation of the excellent support given by the BCY Service Centre staff, the Council Management Team, and the Area Service Teams. Thanks to all of you hardworking staff and volunteers. Thanks also to our auditor Mr. Alnoor Jivraj, CGA for his services. Our investments continue to do well, thanks to the team at Lee,Turner & Associates Inc. Harry Lee the fund manager has performed well beyond our original target of a rate of return (double the rate for 3 months Canadian Treasury bills – currently at +3.27%). At the end of our Fund’s 18th year, we are pleased to report that our fund’s rate of return over these years has surpassed that of the TSX Index as well as that of the Canadian Bond Index.
