hoRNEd FRog MaRchiNg BaNd Band,Uniform & Instrument Fees All Band fees will be charged directly to your TCU account. All members of the Horned Frog Marching Band and Colorguard pay annual band fees to include: 6 $75.00 - Band Dues - covers the cost of a band uniform shirt, baseball cap, band polo shirt, travel, and social activities. $40.00 - Uniform fee assessed for uniform use. $15.00 - Gloves (if applicable) $50.00 - Nike Cross-trainers to use as your marching shoe. This is through a special arrangement we have setup through our athletic equipment office. You will be able to try on shoes at band registration. Everyone will need a new pair of shoes. An Instrument/Equipment Fee will be charged to all Percussion, Piccolo, Mellophone, Euphonium, & Tuba students at the following rates: $50.00 - per semester, ($60 for Percussion), non-refundable fee for use of school-owned instruments and equipment to assist with the cost of repairs and maintenance. All members are responsible for any loss or damage of uniforms or TCU equipment. Traveling with the TCU Band To travel with the marching band, TCU Policy states that students must: • Complete a Student/Participant Release and Indemnity Agreement (ONLINE) • Complete an Emergency Medical Treatment Information Form (ONLINE) • Register for the course, through TCU or TCU Extended Education if you are concurrently enrolled at another college by emailing d.alenius@tcu.edu or calling 817.257.7640 for registration information. • Complete a Band Registration Information Form (ONLINE) Please take care of this during band camp. After classes start, it becomes a hassle! a NoTE FRoM ThE dRUM MajoRS We hope your summer is going well! In a little more than a month we will begin our band camp, and we’re excited to see all of your pretty faces once more. We’re also eager to meet all of the new members! Keep the great memories of this past season close at hand – defeating the Boise State Broncos to become BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK Mountain West Conference Champions, watching Casey Pachall break Andy Dalton’s single-season passing records in only his FIRST year as a starting QB, and traveling to San Diego to win the Poinsettia Bowl (3-0 all-time in this bowl!). This 2012 season is sure to be different in a lot of ways, but we can count on Coach Gary Patterson to lead our football team to success. You will perform in the TCU Marching Band during our first year in the Big XII Conference, and you will also be the first to play in the brand-new stadium! Due to the sizes and nearby locations of the other schools in our conference, there will be many more visiting fans and visiting bands at football games. This creates an electric and exciting game atmosphere, but it also means there will be tons of energy to compete with in the stadium. To contend with and add to this energy, we are looking to step up our game and become the best and largest TCU Marching Band possible. Just two years ago, we took a band to Pasadena for the Rose Bowl that was just over 200 members. Our goal is to surpass that July 2012 Hey Band! and make our way toward 260 members in the next couple of years. We need YOUR help in making this happen! If you know ANYONE who has played an instrument in high school and is attending TCU or another nearby college (TCC, Weatherford, TWU, UTA, etc), please encourage him or her to march in the TCU Band. There are dozens of students in the area that would love to be a part of a Big XII band but haven’t realized they have the opportunity to participate. Our show this year is based on a past Blue Devils show, so we hope you are ready to work hard, move fast, and play loud! We want to make a great first impression in the Big XII and continue TCU’s “Tradition of Excellence.” Don’t forget, as our director Mr. Youngblood says, you will “have as much fun as you can have in a band that’s still any good.” Feel free to email us with any questions, comments, or concerns!
