Only original store receipts dated 11/19/12 to 

1/7/13 will be accepted. Receipts must include name 

of business and may only be submitted once. Receipts 

will be marked and returned if needed and verified at 

sponsor locations. Purchases must be from 5 different 

member businesses. A deposit slip from any member 

bank will count as a receipt. Receipts for credit purchases 

must be store receipts, not credit card statements. 

Entrants must be at least 18 years of age. 

Enter as many times as you like. All entries must be 

submitted by close of business 1-7-13. No purchase 

necessary (visit businesses to receive vouchers). Winners 

agree to have names and photos published. If you

of your money circulating in Louisville. A recent study of Louisvillearea 

businesses shows that for every $100 spent a locally-owned, 

independent business, $55 is reinvested locally, whereas only $14 is 

reinvested when that same money is spent at a national chain.

TO KEEP IT WEIRD: Locally-owned, independent businesses are one-of-a-kind enterprises 

that are vital to the unique character of the Louisville Metro community. 

TO KEEP MORE MONEY: Dollars spent at community-based merchants create a multiplier 

effect. A recent study of Louisville-area businesses shows that for every $100 spent a 

locally-owned, independent business, $55 is reinvested locally, whereas only $14 is 

reinvested when that same money is spent at a national chain. 

TO KEEP MORE JOBS: Local independent businesses are better at creating higher-paying 

jobs for our neighbors. 

TO KEEP OUR ENVIRONMENT: Buying from a local independent business conserves 

energy and resources in the form of less fuel for transportation, less packaging, and 

products that you know are safe and well made, because we stand behind them. 

TO KEEP GOOD KARMA: We know you, and you know us. Studies have shown that locallyowned 

businesses donate to community causes at more than twice the rate of chains. 

TO KEEP YOUR OPTIONS: When a fewer number of larger stores dominate a community, it 

is the national chains that choose what reaches customers, and options dwindle.
