(Comedy Unit). Credits whilst<br />

training include: Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching<br />

Towards the Somme, Medea, A Midsummer Night’s<br />

Dream and Sweet Bird Of Youth. Samuel is making his<br />

professional stage debut in <strong>The</strong> <strong>Maids</strong>.<br />

ROSS MANN | CLAIRE<br />

Ross graduated from the Royal<br />

Conservatoire of Scotland in<br />

2012. <strong>The</strong>atre credits include:<br />

<strong>The</strong> Inventor’s Story (Ankur<br />

Productions), Cain’s Book<br />

(Untitled Projects), Kasimir and<br />

SCOTT REID | SOLANGE<br />

Scott is in his third and final<br />

year at the Royal Conservatoire<br />

of Scotland. <strong>The</strong>atre credits<br />

include: King Lear (<strong>Citizens</strong>),<br />

Passion (Old Red Lion), <strong>The</strong><br />

Martyr (<strong>The</strong>atre 503), Fit for a<br />

King (<strong>The</strong> Arches). Credits at the<br />

Royal Conservatoire of Scotland<br />

include: <strong>The</strong> Importance of Being Earnest, Romeo &<br />

Juliet, Uncle Vanya and Lie of the Mind. Later in the<br />

year Scott is on a national tour with Paddy Cunneen’s<br />

play Fleeto, where he will play the part of Mackie.<br />

MARTIN CRIMP | TRANSLATOR<br />

Martin Crimp was born in 1956 and began writing for<br />

theatre in the 1980’s. His plays include <strong>The</strong> City (2008),<br />

Fewer Emergencies (2005), Cruel and Tender (2004),<br />

Face to the Wall (2002), <strong>The</strong> Country (2000), Attempts<br />

On Her Life (1997), <strong>The</strong> Treatment (1993), Getting<br />

Attention (1992), No One Sees the Video (1991), Play<br />

with Repeats (1989), Dealing with Clair (1988), and<br />

Definitely the Bahamas (1987). He has close<br />

relationships with the Royal Court <strong>The</strong>atre, where he<br />

was writer-in-residence in 1997, <strong>The</strong> Young Vic, and<br />

the National <strong>The</strong>atre, which in 2007 produced the UK’s<br />

first major revival of Attempts on her Life. His work is<br />

widely translated and has been seen on numerous<br />

European stages including the Bouffes du Nord and<br />

Théâtre de la Colline in Paris, the Vienna Festwochen<br />

and Berlin’s Schaubühne. <strong>The</strong> Treatment (winner of<br />

the John Whiting award) was produced by New York’s<br />

Public <strong>The</strong>ater in the same year as the Royal Court<br />

premiere, and in 1998 his translation of Ionesco’s <strong>The</strong><br />

Chairs won a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play. He<br />

has also translated works by Koltès, Genet, Marivaux,<br />

Molière, Chekhov and most recently Gross und Klein<br />

by Botho Strauss.<br />

STEWART LAING | DIRECTOR & DESIGNER<br />

Stewart Laing is Artistic Director of Untitled Projects<br />

which he formed in 1998. <strong>The</strong> Company’s large-scale<br />

theatre, blending landscape, biography, novel, video,<br />

lecture, music, documentary, installation, interview,<br />

science and playwriting includes: <strong>The</strong> Salon Project<br />

(2011), An Argument About Sex (2009), Slope (2006),<br />

blind_sight (2004) and Myths of the Near Future (1998–<br />

2000). As a director and designer, Stewart has created<br />

productions for the <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre, Dundee Rep,<br />

National <strong>The</strong>atre of Scotland, Traverse <strong>The</strong>atre, Scottish<br />

Opera, Grange Park Opera, Norrlandsoperan, Malmö<br />

Opera, Bavarian State Opera. He has also designed for<br />

the West End and Broadway, winning a Tony Award in<br />

1997 for outstanding set design on the musical, Titanic.<br />

In 2002 Stewart received a Creative Scotland Award to<br />

research digital imagery in live performance. Untitled<br />

Projects has received recognition of its exceptional<br />

vision with significant three year funding from the Paul<br />

Hamlyn Foundation Breakthrough Fund.<br />

STUART JENKINS | LIGHTING DESIGNER<br />

Stuart Jenkins has been working in professional<br />

theatre for over 25 years and has worked for <strong>The</strong>atr<br />

Clwyd, <strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre, Royal Lyceum <strong>The</strong>atre<br />

Edinburgh, Traverse <strong>The</strong>atre, Wildcat, Tron <strong>The</strong>atre,<br />

Lung Ha’s, TAG and the National <strong>The</strong>atre of Scotland<br />

amongst others. Lighting credits include: Molly<br />

Sweeney (<strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre/NTS), Blasted, <strong>The</strong> Human<br />

Voice, Vernon God Little, Ten Rillington Place, Smoking<br />

with Lulu, Krapp’s Last Tape, <strong>The</strong> Shadow of a<br />

Gunman (<strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre), Suddenly, Last Summer<br />

(<strong>The</strong>atr Clwyd), Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto (Opera on<br />

a Shoestring), Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco (Tron<br />

<strong>The</strong>atre), Dr. Ferret’s Bad Medicine Roadshow and On<br />

the Rim of the World, Temptations of Tam (Scottish<br />

Opera/<strong>Citizens</strong> <strong>The</strong>atre). He lives in Glasgow with his<br />

partner and three children.<br />

SCOTT PATERSON | GUITAR COACH<br />

Scott Paterson has been writing and performing as<br />

lead guitarist with the rock band Sons & Daughters for<br />

the last decade and has released 4 albums on Domino<br />

Records. He has also performed and toured as part of<br />

Franz Ferdinand and <strong>The</strong> Kills. In addition he has<br />

worked on composition pieces for short films most<br />

recently Scott Graham’s ‘Native Son’ as part of Sons &<br />

Daughters.<br />

DEBBIE HANNAN | ASSISTANT DIRECTOR<br />

Debbie trained in directing at the Royal Conservatoire<br />

of Scotland, where she developed and directed Pamela<br />

Carter’s liberty, equality, fraternity (Tron, Traverse,<br />

Cockpit). She previously assisted John Tiffany and<br />

Vicky Featherstone on National <strong>The</strong>atre of Scotland’s<br />

Enquirer, and most recently assisted Dominic Hill on<br />

Sleeping Beauty. Recent directing work includes:<br />

Roses are Dead (Arches Live!) and Yellow Pears (Bruce<br />

Millar Award 2012).<br />
