Media around the world and in the U.S. covered the University of Dayton’s efforts to help students develop into citizens of the world and embrace diversity in their own communities. www.udayton.edu/news telling the story: inTernaTional anD inTerCUlTUral engagemenT The University embarked on an expanded partnership with the world-renowned Dayton Contemporary Dance Company to enhance students’ learning in diversity, the African-American experience and the performing arts. The Chronicle of Higher Education’s new blog “Arts & Academe” on Sept. 30, reported on the University’s partnership with the DCDC. The New York Times also wrote about the University’s partnership with the company in a feature story about DCDC’s resiliency. National Indian news outlets, including The Hindu and Times of India, covered the winner of the Mindful Leadership competition, a joint effort between the University and Loyola Institute of Business Administration in India. Tadias, the leading lifestyle and business publication devoted exclusively to the Ethiopian-American community in the United States, and the Dayton Daily News both reported on associate visual arts professor Peter Gooch’s painting exhibit inspired by a trip to Ethiopia. A visit from Chinese business officials to the University of Dayton in January made headlines locally. The Dayton Daily News, WDTN-TV and ABC 22/Fox 45 interviewed the delegates while on campus, and University government and regional relations director Ted Bucaro was a guest on the Fox 45 morning show to discuss the visit. The Catholic Telegraph wrote about a February forum on race in the Catholic church held at the University. Abdul-Jabbar also took in part of the NCAA’s inaugural First Four at the University of Dayton Arena and talked to national sports reporters about basketball and the men’s basketball tournament.
