and Competition Readiness themes.
Several other coaches have begun
the process of completing the entry
requirements for the program. Theme
units were offered to coaches via online
considerable travel for participants and
increased the program’s accessibility.
Additional “content specialists” are
Level 4 certi cation and Melanie
or more.
Women in Coaching NCI Scholarships
were awarded to Tania Harrison –
Volleyball, and Lisa Borgerson –
Pistol Shooting, in 2011-12.
COACH PROFILE
Todd Hinds, Wrestling Coach
“The success of the sports science specialists
depends on the athletes who access their
services; the services only work if the
athletes embrace what’s available to them.
The majority of our athletes are embracing
these services, and are bene ting greatly
from this. On competition day, it’s ultimately
up to the athletes to go out on the mat and
wrestle and perform their best. By having
a support team of sports science specialists
available, we are helping our athletes be as
prepared for competition as is possible.”
“At the elite level every fencer has talent -
adding things like nutrition, sports psychology
and focused strength/conditioning helps make
me a more rounded athlete and gives me a
step up over my competition. It has only
been through the support of the CSCS that I
have been able to access these services and
become a more successful athlete.”
