EyeWiki
EyeWiki
In our ongoing effort to help ophthalmologists
around the world deliver the best possible eye
care, the Academy — in close collaboration with
several subspecialty and special interest societies
— created EyeWiki. Just like the collaborative
online encyclopedia Wikipedia, EyeWiki can be
viewed and modified using any Web browser.
EyeWiki has expanded significantly since its
inception in July 2010, with more than half of the
site’s visitors living outside the United States. Four
hundred registered users have made more than
8,000 edits to the ever-growing library of articles.
Contributing articles to EyeWiki is an easy
way for you to give back to your profession and
provide quality ophthalmic information for other
ophthalmologists, medical students, patients
and researchers around the world. Join other
contributors and consider adding a new article in
your area of expertise.
“This fascinating project promotes a new
level of collaboration and information-sharing
among ophthalmologists. It pools the ophthalmic
community’s knowledge to create the best
possible up-to-date information. And it offers
the public a unique resource for in-depth clinical
information on eye conditions that complements
general patient information.”
— Aaron M. Miller, MD, EyeWiki Editor-in-Chief
“We’ll be working hard to ensure that this ‘living
textbook’ of our ophthalmic community reflects
the high standards of our profession while
maintaining the openness and simplicity of a wiki.
Thousands of ophthalmologists will soon be using
this resource as we care for our patients, and I
want to be sure the information we need is just
an EyeWiki search away.”
— Brad H. Feldman, MD, EyeWiki Deputy
Editor-in-Chief
