Application Instructions All International Students (non-U.S. citizens wishing to study in the U.S. under an F-1 visa) are required to: • Complete Jefferson Community College and International Student Application (pages 1&2) and signed by applicant only. • If the applicant currently resides outside of the United States, submit a copy of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL.) Score of 61 or higher on IBT is required for admission. This test is given in countries throughout the world. Testing information is available from www.toefl.org. • Transcripts of secondary education must be submitted with an official English translation. Postsecondary (collegiate) transcripts must be evaluated by an educational credential evaluator. A recommended service is Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), www.ece.org. • Provide a letter of support from a local sponsor.** • It is estimated that the cost of study at Jefferson Community College is about $15,000 U.S. dollars per academic year. The College DOES NOT provide dormitory facilities nor does it assume responsibility for student housing. It is the student’s responsibility to make necessary housing arrangements. Financial aid is not available to any International student at Jefferson Community College. The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization will not approve any off-campus employment unless the student is able to present and document that there has occurred unforeseen changes in economic circumstances since arrival in the United States. It is imperative that adequate sources of finances be available, without working, for the duration of the study. Application Deadline: Applicants for January admission must complete admissions procedures by November 15. Applicants for September admission must complete admissions procedures by June 1. Weir, Director of Admissions **A local sponsor is a person, residing in Jefferson County, who will provide support for the student while living in the U.S. The sponsor is able to act on the students behalf in the case of emergencies. The sponsor will be a family member, friend, associate, or acting on behalf of an agency or church.
