Pete Pullen sets scoring mark
in Recreation league action
Pete Pullen. of the first place
Wildcats, set a league record by
scoring 33 points on 16 field
goals and one foul in the Re
Recreation Department's high
school league.
Pullen and Frank Sannino, of
Ocean City Glass, had held the
previous high of 31 points,
which they both scored earlier
in the season. Pullen had 12
points in the first half and 21 in
the second in the game in which
his team retained its hold on
first place by defeating
Flander's Hotel, 83-58.

mark. They outscored the
losers 11-7 in the final frame to
notch the victory.

Richards had 17, Ed Ginn 14,
Scott Halliday 6, Tim
Schellinger 4, and Jim Ginn and
Bob Wright 2 each. For the
Trojans, Tom Ang had 14, Jim
Nickles 11, Mark Smith eight,
Chuck Kinsing seven, and
Terry Smick three.

Vernon Valley trip,
scheduled for skiers
The Ocean City Recreation
Department and Ski Den are
sponsoring a student ski trip to
Vernon Valley in North Jersey
on Wednesday, March 7. This is
a school holiday.
The bus will leave the Youth
Center at 6 o'clock on Wed-
nesday morning. It is suggested
that those who attend bring
their own lunches to save
money.

Raiders play Pennsville in
Vineland on Saturday
Ocean City High School,
defending champion in South
Jersey Group Two. will play
Pennsville (9-13) Saturday
night at 8 p.m. in the Vineland
High School gym. That is,
provided the Raiders won last
night in a game too late to
report here.
The Raiders have met the
Eagles Five times previously
and Ocean City has won all five.
The most recent was in the 1970
tournament when a great
fourth quarter rally led Jack
Boyd's Raiders to a 69-67 first
round win in the Group Two
tourney. The other four wins
over PennsviUe were during the
regular season in the late SO's.
This season the Eagles
Finished sixth in the nine-team
Tri-County Conference that was
won by Gloucester in a dose
race with Pitman. They
reached the quarter-final round
by defeating Peims Grove for
the third time this season, 89-99,
this past Tuesday night. Coach
Jack Hathway, whose team
finished 4-18 last season and
failed to qualify for tbe tourney,
is only average in site and
features no particular player of
great ability
11 Ocean City wins Saturday,
assuming they first won last
night, they will play either
Pleasantville (18-6), Burlington
Township (19-4) or Haddon
Township (4-18) early next
week. Pleasantville, whom
Ocean City defeated twice
during the regular season,
plays either Burlington
Township or Haddon Township
this Saturday night at 8 p.m. in
the Shawnee High School gym.
The Greyhounds earned the
quarter-final round by romping
over Eastern. 63-39, Tuesday
night.
Elsewhere in the tournament.
Wildwood easily defeated Point
Pleasant Beach but was
scheduled to face tough Had-
donfield in Group One last
night. Middle Township, Lower
Cape May Regional and
Hammonton all lost firat round
games in Group Obe. Ninth-
ranked Palmyra, whom Sen-
