Standard Model of Cosmology and Beyond • Good idea of the history of the Universe • Good idea of the composition: ‣ ~73% of a mysterious dark energy ‣ ~23% of an unkown dark matter component ‣ ~4% of baryons • Constraints on ~20 cosmological parameters, including optical depth, spectral index, Hubble constant, ... • Values are known to ~10% • For comparison: the parameters of the Standard Model of Particle Physics are known with 0.1% accuracy! • Where do we go from here? ‣ Precision for the sake of precision not useful, want more theory and less phenomenology ‣ Observations and theory must work together to understand the unknowns of the current Standard Model ‣ What is the Dark Energy?
