emphasized the importance <strong>of</strong> safeguarding<br />
the doctor-patient relationship.<br />

focused on organized <strong>dentist</strong>ry’s role in<br />
developing pr<strong>of</strong>essional collegiality.<br />
Dr. Greg Smith (bottom-center above) served as faculty marshal for the ceremony.<br />
“.... pr<strong>of</strong>essionalism is also defined by our<br />
actions outside our own <strong>of</strong>fice, and partly by<br />
how much we contribute to the community....<br />
Nowhere is it written that we are obligated to<br />
give a certain amount <strong>of</strong> hours in a month to<br />
help and/or educate people about oral health,<br />
but it is a responsibility that we accept as<br />
pr<strong>of</strong>essionals. We should not cop out to the<br />
Charles Barkley excuse that we did not ask<br />
to be “role models,” but rather welcome the<br />
added responsibilities because we realize<br />
that they are part <strong>of</strong> a package deal.”<br />
