Mary (Ascough MA ’00) married Damian<br />

Schönborn on February 2, 2002, in County<br />

Wicklow, Ireland. Father Michael Scanlan,<br />

TOR, celebrated their nuptial Mass and guests<br />

included a dozen alumni. The couple makes<br />

their home in Austria.<br />

2001<br />

Christine (Clark ’02) and John Brooks ’01 with<br />

Hearts <strong>of</strong> Fire and Agape households at their<br />

wedding reception.<br />

Julie (Yochim) and Corey Ferraro were<br />

married on June 1, 2002. They live in Erie,<br />

Pennsylvania. Julie works in the public relations<br />

<strong>of</strong>fice for the Millcreek School District,<br />

and Corey is the director <strong>of</strong> youth activities at<br />

St. George Church.<br />

<strong>Winter</strong> <strong>2003</strong><br />

Julie (Yochim ’01) and Corey Ferraro on their<br />

2002<br />

Mary Garbe lives in Lake Bluff, Illinois, and<br />

teaches first and second grade at East Lake<br />

Academy. She loved seeing her Sacrifice <strong>of</strong><br />

Love sisters at their recent household reunion.<br />

In Memoriam<br />

William Bettcher, father <strong>of</strong> Tim Bettcher<br />

’97 died recently. Lillian Palicki, Tim’s grandmother<br />

also passed away this fall.<br />

James B. Hagerty ’72 died September 24,<br />

2002, in Davenport, Florida. He was a 28year<br />

employee <strong>of</strong> Weirton Steel and retired in<br />

1988. He is survived by his wife MaryAnn,<br />

sons, Brian and Pat, and daughters, Maureen,<br />

Colleen, Marian, Marilyn, and Karen ’91.<br />

Charles S. Lafferty ’60 died October 9,<br />

2002, in Weirton, West Virginia. Charlie<br />

worked for many years at Weirton Steel where<br />

he held many positions in the Human Resources<br />

Department. His wife, four children,<br />

and six grandchildren survive him.<br />

Monsignor James C. Marshall, pastor <strong>of</strong><br />

Holy Rosary Church in <strong>Steubenville</strong>, Ohio,<br />

died September 19, 2002. He was an honorary<br />

alumnus and recipient <strong>of</strong> the Bishop Mussio<br />

Alumni Award in 1992.<br />

Libby (Hartranft) Waters ’98 died November<br />

20, 2002. Libby suffered a brain aneurysm<br />

in August 2001. Her husband, Nate<br />

Waters ’98, died in August 2000 <strong>of</strong> cancer.<br />

In addition to their parents and siblings,<br />

Libby and Nate are survived by their young<br />

sons, Seamus and Aidan. Two <strong>of</strong> Libby’s<br />

sisters, Cheryl (Hartranft ’89) Fitzpatrick<br />

and Wendy Hartranft ’95, are alumnae.<br />

Libby, Nate, Seamus, and Aidan Waters.<br />

Mark Grabinski, a 22-year-old senior English<br />

writing major, died October 2, 2002, in<br />

a single car accident in <strong>Steubenville</strong>. Mark is<br />

survived by his parents, Jerry and Jackie<br />

Grabinski, and sister Lisa. A Mass <strong>of</strong> Christian<br />

Burial was held for Mark in Finnegan<br />

Fieldhouse on Monday, October 7, 2002,<br />

with more than 1,200 family members, friends,<br />

and students in attendance.<br />

<strong>Franciscan</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s domain name has<br />

changed from www.franuniv.edu to<br />

www.franciscan.edu. All e-mail addresses<br />

have also changed to username@<br />

franciscan.edu. Please make these changes<br />

immediately. After March 3, <strong>2003</strong>, e-mail to<br />

the old domain name will be undeliverable.<br />
