For those going through the university
application process there
has been one-to-one support
given throughout the process.
For those
undertaking
the process
of Oxbridge
applications
considerable
extra
support has
been given
- visits to
conferences
at
the Emirates
Stadium, a residential trip
to Oxford and Cambridge (the
current Year 12 cohort have
been on this trip in the last
week), help with preparation for
the full range of admissions
tests. Additionally subject mentors
offering one-to-one support
and detailed mock interviews.
This has proved successful
in a number of cases as the
school builds a strong Oxbridge
tradition and former students
are being pulled in to give current
students the benefit of
their experience.
Life at Highcliffe for the Sixth
Form students is about more
than their main academic study.
This year’s students have been
able to pursue a range of other
interests through the enrichment
programme. In the physical
area this is via the development
of a sporting interest via
the Water Sports Academy,
bringing that into the community
as part of the Dance and
Sports Community Leaders
Award programmes or simply
partaking in organised sporting
activities.
Creative types have been able
to not only take part in but also
at times organise a range of musical
and drama events. Others
have been able to extend their
knowledge by being able to
study subjects
for
sheer enjoyment,
whether a
language
via the TwilightLanguagesprogramme
(Japanese,
Latin, Mandarin,
and
conversational European languages),
Astronomy, Classical
Civilisation also proving popular.
This year group in particular has
really grabbed the social side of
life, throwing themselves with
gusto into the activities offered
by the Sixth Form and individual
subject areas.
Whether it be activity trips to
Calshot/Rockley Park, social and
charity events, ski/
snowboarding in America, exchange
programmes and visit
opportunities in India, Japan,
France, Poland, Spain, Prague
and Italy the Sixth Form have
always been at the forefront.
As a team we continue to look
at how we can improve the experience
for students in the
Sixth Form whether that be via
the support and activities given
above or even by such a simple
thing as support with transport,
books and suchlike.
We are proud of what we have
so far achieved in partnership
with the students, particularly in
the cohort that we must now
bid farewell to with real expectation
of another recordbreaking
year of examination
results for the Highcliffe Sixth
Form.
We hope you enjoy looking inside
at just some of the activities
and achievements of the
group this year. For the Year 13
students we hope that you have
enjoyed your experience in the
Sixth Form and look back on it,
and us with fondness in the way
that we will you.
