<strong>2012</strong> <strong>USCB</strong> <strong>Emerging</strong> <strong>Artists</strong><br />

<strong>Competition</strong> <strong>Prospectus</strong><br />

Objective:<br />

<strong>USCB</strong> seeks to support and showcase<br />

exemplary artistic achievements <strong>of</strong> junior and<br />

senior high school students in the southeast<br />

United States.<br />

Awards:<br />

The top three works chosen by the jurors will<br />

receive annual art scholarship awards <strong>of</strong><br />

$3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively. All<br />

other entries accepted into the exhibition will<br />

receive $500 annual art scholarship awards.*<br />

Media:<br />

Open to any and all traditional or nontraditional<br />

visual art genre and media.<br />

Entry Fee:<br />

There is no entry fee to participate in this<br />

exhibition.<br />

*Awards contingent on admission to <strong>USCB</strong><br />

with a major in Studio Art<br />

Submission Guidelines:<br />

All entries must be digital. Teachers must<br />

compile all student entries onto one CD/DVD<br />

and submit along with completed student entry<br />

forms to:<br />

Teachers:<br />

Submit all student images on one CD/DVD and<br />

clearly label it with the school’s name, mailing<br />

address, contact information. Each school<br />

may only submit one CD/DVD. Teachers may<br />

submit no more than three entries per student.<br />

CD/DVDs will not be returned.<br />

Images:<br />

<strong>USCB</strong> can only accept digital images for<br />

consideration. Images must meet the following<br />

requirements:<br />

File Names: School name followed by the<br />

student's last name and then entry number<br />

(i.e. BeaufortHigh_Smith01.jpg,<br />

BeaufortHigh_Smith02.jpg).<br />

File Size: Images must be saved in a HIGH<br />

QUALITY JPEG format and should be sized to<br />

1200 pixels on the longest side.<br />

Delivery & Return <strong>of</strong> Work:<br />

All work accepted for the exhibition must<br />

arrive ready to install. 2D works should be<br />

framed using Plexiglas. Accepted work that<br />

differs significantly from the entry images or<br />

suffers from poor presentation may be<br />

disqualified. Work may be hand delivered or<br />

shipped. Shipped works must be sent in an<br />

easily reusable container/packaging with<br />

return shipping prepaid. Please do not use<br />

packing peanuts.<br />

Calendar for <strong>2012</strong>:<br />

February 10: Deadline for applications<br />

February 20: Notifications sent via email<br />

March 9: Artwork arrival deadline<br />

March 23: Awards Reception<br />

March 23 - April 20: Show duration<br />

April 23 - 27: Pick-up artwork<br />

Sale <strong>of</strong> Work: <strong>USCB</strong> does not manage<br />

artwork sales.<br />

Marketing: <strong>USCB</strong> reserves the right to use<br />

images <strong>of</strong> accepted works for promotional<br />

purposes. The gallery may request higher<br />

quality images <strong>of</strong> accepted work upon<br />

notification.<br />

Liability: <strong>USCB</strong> will take the utmost care<br />

with your entries. Insurance will not be<br />

provided for any artwork while on <strong>USCB</strong>’s<br />

premises. <strong>USCB</strong> bears no responsibility and<br />

is not liable for damage to, theft <strong>of</strong>, or<br />

change in the condition <strong>of</strong> artwork while on<br />

the premises or as a result <strong>of</strong> participation.<br />

March 23 – Tentative Schedule:<br />

11:00am – Students arrive at <strong>USCB</strong> for tour<br />

12:00pm – Lunch provided<br />

1:00pm – Keynote speaker and Awards<br />

2:00pm – Students depart <strong>USCB</strong>


Agreement: By signing this agreement and<br />

entering my artwork into <strong>USCB</strong>’s <strong>Emerging</strong> <strong>Artists</strong><br />

<strong>Competition</strong>, I confirm that I have read and agree to<br />

all the conditions specified in the competition<br />

guidelines. I understand that incomplete<br />

submissions or submissions that do not comply<br />

with these guidelines will not be considered. I<br />

understand that work included in the exhibition may<br />

not be picked up until after the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the<br />

exhibition.<br />
