2012 USCB Emerging Artists
Competition Prospectus
Objective:
USCB seeks to support and showcase
exemplary artistic achievements of junior and
senior high school students in the southeast
United States.
Jurors:
Jonathon Goebel, M.F.A., USCB Assistant
Professor of Studio Art
Lisa Victoria Ciresi, Ph.D., USCB Assistant
Professor of Art History
Roger L. Steele, MFA, USCB Adjunct
Instructor of Studio Art
Awards:
The top three works chosen by the jurors will
receive annual art scholarship awards of
$3,000, $2,000 and $1,000 respectively. All
other entries accepted into the exhibition will
receive $500 annual art scholarship awards.*
Media:
Open to any and all traditional or nontraditional
visual art genre and media.
Entry Fee:
There is no entry fee to participate in this
exhibition.
*Awards contingent on admission to USCB
with a major in Studio Art
Submission Guidelines:
All entries must be digital. Teachers must
compile all student entries onto one CD/DVD
and submit along with completed student entry

Teachers:
Submit all student images on one CD/DVD and
clearly label it with the school’s name, mailing
address, contact information. Each school
may only submit one CD/DVD. Teachers may
submit no more than three entries per student.
CD/DVDs will not be returned.
Images:
USCB can only accept digital images for
consideration. Images must meet the following
requirements:
File Names: School name followed by the
student's last name and then entry number
(i.e. BeaufortHigh_Smith01.jpg,
BeaufortHigh_Smith02.jpg).
File Size: Images must be saved in a HIGH
QUALITY JPEG format and should be sized to
1200 pixels on the longest side.
Delivery & Return of Work:
All work accepted for the exhibition must
arrive ready to install. 2D works should be
framed using Plexiglas. Accepted work that
differs significantly from the entry images or
suffers from poor presentation may be
disqualified. Work may be hand delivered or
shipped. Shipped works must be sent in an
easily reusable container/packaging with
return shipping prepaid. Please do not use
packing peanuts.

February 10: Deadline for applications
February 20: Notifications sent via email
March 9: Artwork arrival deadline
March 23: Awards Reception
March 23 - April 20: Show duration
April 23 - 27: Pick-up artwork
Sale of Work: USCB does not manage
artwork sales.
Marketing: USCB reserves the right to use
images of accepted works for promotional
purposes. The gallery may request higher
quality images of accepted work upon
notification.
Liability: USCB will take the utmost care
with your entries. Insurance will not be
provided for any artwork while on USCB’s
premises. USCB bears no responsibility and
is not liable for damage to, theft of, or
change in the condition of artwork while on
the premises or as a result of participation.
March 23 – Tentative Schedule:
11:00am – Students arrive at USCB for tour
12:00pm – Lunch provided
1:00pm – Keynote speaker and Awards
2:00pm – Students depart USCB

Agreement: By signing this agreement and
entering my artwork into USCB’s Emerging Artists
Competition, I confirm that I have read and agree to
all the conditions specified in the competition
guidelines. I understand that incomplete
submissions or submissions that do not comply
with these guidelines will not be considered. I
understand that work included in the exhibition may
not be picked up until after the conclusion of the
exhibition.
