This has been a busy
year for Senators in Texas.
We have met with the Texas
Jaycees at their elections
meeting last November in
Irving, where they elected
Adam Vanek as their new
president. More recently we
met at their Year End Celebration
in San Antonio in
March, where we welcomed
two new Senators, Alan
Robinson and Miles
Faherty. Senators were also
called upon to coordinate
and help with yearend Book
Judging. Participating were

Arif #65389 on a great year,
the Texas Jaycees will be
marching #1 at the US Jaycees
annual meeting in June.
Senators from Texas have
travelled to Little Rock, AR,
for a meeting of the Region
VII Senators and to Kissimmee,
FL, for the Midyear
meeting of the US JCI
Senate. The hospitality of
the Arkansas Senate was
outstanding. The banquet,
held aboard a riverboat,
was a unique experience.
While the weather
was cold and windy, the
fellowship kept us all
warm. I did not personally
accompany our team
on the Florida mission; I
have heard that a great
time was had by all. The
Florida Senate always
does a great job.
Our next meeting of
the Texas Senate will be
held in Houston May 1.
This will take place during
the Region VIII convention
that we will be
hosting April 30 – May 2
at the Spring Hill Suites
Houston Hobby Airport.
At this meeting we will
be holding our annual
elections and you will
also have the opportunity
to meet with candidates
for the executive board of
the US JCI Senate.
Chairman David Ray

have put together a
great weekend for us so I
hope that you will all be
there. If you have not already
contacted David to
offer help, please take a
moment to do so now, we
will need all hands on deck
for this one!
We are now looking
forward to our final mission:
the US JCI Senate
Annual meeting in Concord,
CA. This promises
to be a great convention.
There will be winery tours,
shopping in San Francisco, a
beer belly tour, and many
other activities. You will
certainly not want to miss
this year’s states party.
This has been a full and
rewarding year. I am proud
to have served as President
of the Texas JCI Senate, but
it would not have been possible
without the constant support
of my board and all of
you, Texas Senators. President

From the Veep
Well another winter has come and gone and Daylight Savings Time is here.
Judy and I have been to Florida for the USJCI Winter Board of Directors meeting, and along with a good group of
Texas and Oklahoma Senators, we had a great time.
We also attended the Texas Jaycee’s Year End Convention in San Antonio where we were once again among great
senate friends.
We also got 2 new senators in San Antonio, Miles Faherty and Alan Robinson. We grew by 2 in one meeting.
Up next is the Region VIII meeting in Houston April 29 & 30 and May 1. This will also be the Texas Senate Year
End & Elections. If at all possible make plans to attend. We will be hosting Senators from Region XIII and it will be
a good time for all.
It has been my great pleasure to have served on the Senate Board this past year and I look forward to serving next
year. Please consider serving as well. There are a number of Board positions still open for next year including Treasurer,
Hospitality and Director at Large. If you are interested in any of these positions please let me know. My email

The San Antonio meeting was a great, if you missed it we hope you will make
one of the next meetings (see the photos on the Senate web site). April 30, Region
8 meeting in Houston . And if you like Austin , the Jaycees are planning a
meeting in August. The details of the Austin meeting will be released soon, keep
checking the website for details. In San Antonio , Senator Marvin Longabaugh
55659 and his wife paid us a visit from Nevada . Also it was my first time to
meet Senator Gary Towers #29103 and his wife Brenda. Since we were in his
area, Senator Oscar Zaldivar 39080 also paid a visit.
We have quite a few members coming due in May (see list of May renewals), we
encourage you to consider a life membership in the Texas JCI senate. The cost is
$300 and will put an end to the pesky annual renewal. You can pay the life
membership in one payment or make quarterly payments starting with one payment
for at least $75.

Howdy from Houston – the Home of the Region VIII/Texas JCI Senate Meeting
“The Final Frontier” from April 30 – May 1, 2010. Our headquarters is the
Springhill Suites by Marriott Houston Hobby Airport. The hotel will pick you up
for free if you fly into Hobby Airport. We have a lot of good hospitality planned
and good entertainment, but for the Convention to be a success, we need for you
to register early so we know how many to plan for and to volunteer when called
upon to help our small dedicated committee make this meeting a success for
Texas and a good time for our guests from out of state. Registrations forms are
found on the next page of the newsletter or can be downloaded from either
“texasjcisenate.org or usjcisenate.org” and should also be attached to this newsletter.
RJ Montgomery (281) 630-4850 is in charge of manpower and Pat Felder
