Nutraceuticals: a blessing for many
Supplying the human body with vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and other essential nutrients is
a basic requirement for preserving its vital functions and promoting performance. Nutrients
are ingested with the usual food or through nutritional supplements specifically conceived to
this effect. Only very few nutrients are synthesised by the body in sufficient amounts to meet
its needs. What is better: uptake through food or by way of nutritional supplements?
Nutraceuticals often come in safety containers to prevent overdosage
At all events, nutritional supplements – or so called «neutraceuticals» – must not be used in
place of a varied and healthy nutrition. This is also stated on every quality product. Many
people, however, suffer from disorders which may impede the uptake of nutrients. Others
consciously or unconsciously choose diets that can lead to deficiencies in certain nutrients.
On the other hand, certain circumstances of life such as pregnancy, vegetarian regimens or
participation in competitive sports may lead to an increased demand for various substances.
In this and many other cases, nutritional supplements, for instance in the form of drops or
instant drinks, constitute a welcome alternative to purely medical dosage forms such as
tablets or capsules. Popular nutritional supplements include vitaminated «gummy bears»
and, more recently, also omega-3 enriched «gummy fishies». In addition, concepts with fruit
or vegetable powder are enjoying increasing popularity on account of their antioxidant action. We have been producing products of

Anti‐Halitosis
We have developed a completely new
range of anti-halitosis candies against
bad breath. Most products on the
market simply mask oral malodour. In
contrast, our drops focus on the
enzymes responsible for bad breath
which are generated by bacteria in the
mouth. A recently completed clinical
study by the Dental Prophylaxis Institute
in Zurich has shown that our products
instantly fight bad breath as soon as
you take them. According to Prof. Ulrich
Saxer who headed the study, our anti-halitosis candies “significantly reduce oral
malodour (tongue and mouth) and ensure that a patient with halitosis has no
noticeably bad breath for at least one hour.” Our new anti-halitosis candies come
in many different flavours.

More functional food
Food matrix description
Beta-glucans are polysaccharides which
occur most commonly as cellulose in
plants, cereal grains, mushrooms and
bacteria. The European Food Safety
Authority (EFSA) has approved a causeand-effect
relationship between the consumption
of oat beta-glucans and the
reduction of blood cholesterol concentrations.
For products containing at least 1 g
of oat beta-glucans per serving and a
daily consumption of 3g, you're allowed
to use the following claim: «Oat betaglucan
has been shown to lower/reduce
blood cholesterol. Blood cholesterol
lowering may reduce the risk of (coronary)
heart disease». We have developed
not only effective but also tasty
instant powder mixes with the required
amount of beta-glucans, the positive
effects of which can be fully claimed.
These instant powders are best used for
delicious milk drinks or also with yogurt
or cereals. You can sample them at our
stand at the ISM trade fair in Cologne.
Collagen is a protein with a wide
variety of applications, ranging from
food to medical preparations. It can play
an important role in weight
management or may be used for its
satiating power. For quite a few years, it
has been used in cosmetics to slow
down the skin's aging process.
However, for food, the EFSA rejected
all applications claiming a health
benefit. Nevertheless, should you be
interested in collagen which incidentally
is a common food ingredient in Japan,
for example, please ask us about our
collagen pastilles.
