y personal experience in
M Ireland
Since the beginning I was expecting and
waiting for these days and I had lots of
questions, it would be a new and
different experience, but how would it
be?
Well, now I can say that it was a great
experience. For me, personally, it was a
nice opportunity to meet people, to
discover a new place, the experience of
working in a foreign place, living in
another culture, speaking another
language…
During these days we knew how to live
far away from our family, friends,
cultures and our daily routine, not
speaking our own language… We learnt
how to open our mind: being the same
person in spite of living different
situations.
I met nice people, and if I had to
remember something special, the first
thing I would remember would be a big
green field with sheep and some birds,
the sun shinning in the middle of a rainy
day, really, really cold and windy, and
often rainy too.
For me, it was special too, because I met
people from my own religion and we
went preaching and we attended our
meetings, but in English. And it was
nice to see that we have the same
behavior, the same feelings…the same
Truth and the same God, Jehovah. I
made very good friends and I enjoyed
the time with them.
Every day I met my classmates. In the
morning, with two of all them, I worked
in a Primary School), and in the
afternoon, with the rest of the group ,we
EL MÓN DEL TREBALL
had English classes.
All the time there, we knew each other
and became good friends. The entire
group began to feel like a little family
having fun everywhere but especially I
remember Dublin (it was a nice time).
Another important experience was the
work. Some of us (Ingrid, David & me)
where working at Fountain Primary
School. It was a sweet and nice
experience. The first day we were a little
bit nervous, but then the experience was
so great and comfortable.
In my opinion, these days were like
making our dreams come true, different
from our daily life, and at the same time
great, special, as if the time stopped for
a short time. Nice and curious.
Well, and about our time in Derry, what
I can explain is that we improved our
English because we spoke and listened
to it everywhere (and even we learnt
some Irish). But in my opinion, it wasn’t
the only thing that we learnt; But I think
there was even a better lesson for all of
us: “It doesn’t matter wherever you go,
everywhere there are people, different
people maybe, but at the same time
equal, because of their heart and their
feelings”
To sum up: A nice, an unforgetable
time.
