ABSTRACT
The development of ontologies, taking as input only text documents is very
important because the manual construction of ontologies is a labor extensive and
expensive, however there is already a wealth of information in electronic format.
This thesis presents a method for automatic construction of semantic dictionaries,
taking as input only text documents using a variety of statistical methods, including
term extraction algorithm using the Log-Likelihood, the cosine similarity measure
and clustering via K-Means algorithm.
