“PARTNERSHIPS”
The Chihuahuan Desert symposium series is held at roughly fiveyear
intervals and is coordinated by the Board of Scientists of the
Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute. The Fifth Symposium is the
result of a partnership between the Chihuahuan Desert Research
Institute, Sul Ross State University, World Wildlife Fund, and National
Park Service.
The objectives of the Symposium are to promote cooperation between
international scientists, agencies, and organizations, to build
on previous data, to exchange new data , to expose participants to
the scope of current research activities in the region, and to allow for
an understanding of future research and management priorities.
Only through research, documentation, and a direct dialogue between
scientists can we hope to understand and respect the limits
and potential of resources of the Chihuahuan Desert in the face of
an expanding human population.
