Metrajea gorenera iristenpentsamenduak jasotzen ditu dokumentalak, am-(1979) izan zen hura, egilearen opera prima da, zaintzen zituzten polizien sableen mehatxupean, eta, Santos Zunzuneguiren hitzetan, fikzioranzkobere bidaia luzearen hasiera.epaituak Eusko Gudariak abesten ari ziren aretokozuzeneko soinua entzuten denean eta, azken zatian, euretako seiren heriotza-zigorrak kommutatzen direlajakinaraztean. UCD alderdiak zentsura abolituzuela bi urte bakarrik igaro zireneko testuinguru historikoharen eragina izan zuten bai filmaren sorkuntzaknola harrerak. Beste arazo askoren artean, JaimeMayor Oreja filma Donostia Zinemaldian proiekta zezateneragozten saiatu zen. 47 Ukaezina da filmak gauregun dokumentu historiko gisa lortu duen balioa eta, euskal zinemaren historian “zinema autonomiko”deituko denaren atarian kokatuz gero, oso leku garrantzitsuamerezi du, argi erakutsi baitzuen zilegizela Euskal Herritik arrakastaz ekoiztea, argumentuakgertuko historian bilatuta.47Cfr. Francisco Letamendia, contains the trajectories andthoughts of each of the sixteen ETA members whohad gone to trial in Burgos almost a decade beforeand who had ended up being granted amnesty. Theclimax of the film was achieved with a live recordingof the courtroom with the defendants singing“Eusko Gudariak” (the Basque soldiers’ hymn) whilethreatened by the sabres of the police officers guardingthem and, in the final part, with the announcementof the death penalties which six of them received.Neither the idea for the film or its receptionwere very far removed from a historical context inwhich censorship had been abolished barely twoyears before by the UCD (Unión de Centro Democrático,Union of the Democratic Centre). Amongstother problems it faced, Jaime Mayor Oreja (todaya prominent politician in the Partido Popular orconservative People’s Party) tried to have its screeningat the Donostia / San Sebastián Film Festivalbanned. 47 The value of this documentary today asa historical document is indisputable. Meanwhile, framed in the history of Basque cinema at thethreshold of what would be called “autonomous cinema”,it deserves a very special place given that itcame to demonstrate that it was indeed possible tosuccessfully produce things in the Basque Country, seeking storylines in recent Basque history itself.7147Cfr. Thenewspaper ABC spoke of a “cinema-poll exalting ETA” andeven criticised Imanol Uribe’s attire when he receivedthe Perla del Cantábrico award, because it was “littlein keeping with an act of such standing.” Cf.
