“CAMBIE SU RELOJ Y
CAMBIE SUS BATERIAS”
Kissimmee, Fla. — El Departamento
de Bomberos de Kissimmee (KFD,
siglas en ingles) exhorta a los
residentes a ayudar a salvar vidas
“CHANGE YOUR CLOCK
AND CHANGE YOUR
BATTERIES”
Kissimmee, Fla. —The Kissimmee
Fire Department (KFD) urges residents
to help save lives by reminding family,
friends and neighbors to change their
clocks and the batteries in their smoke
alarms.
As the time change approaches
at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November
7, KFD reminds residents to make
another change that could save
their lives…simply by changing the
batteries in their smoke alarms.
C o m m u n i t i e s
n a t i o n w i d e
witness tragic
home fire deaths
each year. An
average of three
children per
day die in home
fires and 80
percent of those
occur in homes
without working
smoke alarms.
N o n - w o r k i n g
smoke alarms
rob residents of
the protective
benefits home
fire safety devices
were designed to
provide. The most
commonly cited
cause of non-working smoke alarms:
worn out or missing batteries.
“The peak time for home fire fatalities
is between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. when
most families are sleeping,” said
Kissimmee Fire Chief Bob King.
“Smoke alarm maintenance is a
simple, effective way to reduce home
fire deaths. Children and senior
citizens are most at risk, and a working
smoke alarm can give them the extra
seconds they need to escape safely.”
Residents should also test smoke
alarms by pushing the test button,
planning “two ways out,” and practicing
escape routes with the entire family.
Families should also prepare a
fire safety kit that includes working
flashlights and fresh batteries.
For more information about fire
safety, or if you are a City resident
interested in a free smoke detector
or replacement battery, please call
CORTE DE CINTA DE LA INCUBADORA UCF
Kissimmee, Fla.
‘externo’.
*Las uñas de los pies gruesas, lo
fáciles de cortar. El recortarlas luego
* Thick toenails, which come with
age, are difficult to trim. Soaking your
feet in warm salt water will soften them
and make them easier to cut. Trimming
after a bath or shower makes sense.
* Toenails should be cut straight
across so that the nail does not extend
beyond the tip of the toe. Do not round
off corners.
La investigación comenzó a finales de
junio cuando los agentes respondieron
a la tienda por departamento Ross
ARREST SUSPECT FOR
VIDEO VOYEURISM AND
CHILD ABUSE
Osceola County, Fla. -- Osceola
County Sheriff’s detectives arrested
Lowis Garcia, III, well know Puerto
Rican Christian singer, on charges of
Child Abuse and Video Voyeurism.
The investigation began in late June
when deputies responded to the Ross
Department Store located at 3202 North
John Young Parkway in Kissimmee.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with
the complainant who indicated she
and her mother were shopping in the
store. She heard her mother asking
a Hispanic male behind them what
he was doing. When she turned
around, she saw what appeared to be
video equipment
attached to his
shoe pointing
upward. Her
mother told her the
man had his foot
placed where he
could video up her
skirt. After a brief
confrontation, the
man fled the store with a young child.
Based on the information provided by
the witnesses, detectives were able
to locate the suspect, identified as
Garcia. On September 8, detectives
obtained a search warrant for Garcia’s
residence and spoke with him about
the incident. Garcia cooperated with
detectives and they were able to
confirm Garcia brought his five-yearold
son with him to the store at the
time of the incident. They took into
evidence Garcia’s cellular phone.
On October 12, detectives confirmed
there were more than 77 videos on
Garcia’s phone, 51 videos were of
unsuspecting women being taped
inappropriately at various department
stores. On October 27, Garcia was
arrested on Video Voyeurism and
Child Abuse charges at his residence.
He was booked into the Osceola
County Jail on a $3,500 bond.
The investigation is on going as
detectives attempt to identify more
victims. Anyone with information
regarding Garcia is asked to call
the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office
Orlando Magic - Noticias / News
MAGIC REGRESAN CON
FUERZA
Por Kevin Waldbieser
Orlando, Fla.
principal. Anderson y Bass se dividirán
el tiempo en la posición de delantero
principal, ambos hicieron excelentes
contribuciones. Ambos terminaron
el juego con 19 puntos, combinando
11 rebotes y tres bloqueos. Lewis no
estuvo especialmente efectivo en la
posición de delantero, anotando solo
11 puntos en cerca de 30 minutos de
juego.
Dwight Howard llevó el peso para
los Magic defensivamente cuando
coqueteó con un doble triple en solo 23
minutos. El anotó 18 puntos, tomó 16
rebotes y bloqueo 8 tiros en su limitado
tiempo de la cancha. Vince Cartes se
vio muy efectivo, logrando 4 de sus 5
intentos de tres puntos y sirviendo 7
asistencias. Si pudiera jugar como lo
hizo el miércoles de manera regular,
los Magic tendrían su anotador. Sin
embargo, la consistencia ha sido el
mayor enemigo de Carter a lo largo
de toda su carrera.
Anotar 128 puntos es un logro muy
impresionante, pero la verdad de
esto es que Minnesota es un equipo
terrible. Orlando no ha probado nada
hasta ahora en esta temporada, con
2 grandes victorias contra equipos
de menor calidad. La única medida
verdadera de donde están parados
en las próximas finales fue contra los
Heat, donde se quedaron cortos. Un
MAGIC BOUNCE BACK
STRONG
By Kevin Waldbieser
Orlando, Fla. -
After what seems
like an eternity
since Orlando’s
last game, they
finally got back to
work on Wednesday night against the
Minnesota Timberwolves. The Magic
had a sour taste in their mouth after
their unfortunate display against the
Miami Heat last Friday. The plan was
to get rid of that taste in New York on
Tuesday, but the game was postponed
due to maintenance issues in Madison
Square Garden. It was very obvious
that Orlando was itching to get back
Photo Orlando Magic
on the court on Wednesday night, as
they tore apart the Timberwolves like
they were playing a high school team.
The biggest news going into the game
Wednesday night was the addition of
Ryan Anderson to the starting lineup.
Rashard Lewis was moved to the
small forward position to start the
game to make room for Anderson at
power forward. Both Anderson and
Bass would split time at the power
forward position, and they both made
excellent contributions. They each
finished the game with 19 points, also
chipping in a combined 11 rebounds
and 3 blocks. Lewis wasn’t especially
effective at the small forward position,
scoring only 11 points in nearly 30
minutes on the floor.
Dwight Howard led the charge for
the Magic defensively as he flirted
with a triple double in just 23 minutes.
He scored 18 points, grabbed 16
rebounds and blocked 8 shots in his
limited time on the floor. Vince Carter
looked very sharp, hitting 4 of his 5
three point attempts and dishing out
7 assists. If he could play like he did
on Wednesday on a regular basis, the
Magic would have their go to scorer.
However, consistency has been
Carter’s biggest enemy throughout
his entire career.
Scoring 128 points is a very
impressive accomplishment, but the
truth of it is, Minnesota is a terrible
team. Orlando has proven nothing
so far this season, with 2 blowout
victories against very sub-par teams.
The only true measurement of where
they will stand come playoffs was
against the Heat, where they came
up very short. A team can finish the
regular season with a solid record by
MOVIE TIMES
ARIES (Mar. 21 - Abr. 20) -
Admítelo! Hay ocasiones en
que estas tan apurado que tu
firmas algunos documentos
sin haberlos leído en su
totalidad, etc. Para esta semana, es muy
importante que tu leas los contratos,
etc., super cuidadosamente. También en
asuntos financieros, consulta con aquellos
que conocen el tema antes de firmar.
Estarás muy satisfecho si haces esto.
TAURO (Abr. 21 - May. 20)
GEMINIS (May. 21 - Jun.
20) - Prepárate para el
romance con tu amorcito para
el dia 7. Venus se espera
maravillosamente para esta
aventura.
Si no tienes a esa personal
especial busca a una para el amor!
CANCER (Jun. 21 - Jul. 22)
- ¿Tienes tu una mascota…
quizá una tortuga, perro o
gato?
LEO (Jul. 23 - Ago. 22) - A
ustedes Leo les encantan los
juegos de azar. Júpiter quiere
ayudarte a ganar ahora.
VIRGO (Ago. 23 - Sept.
22) - Tus amigos y la familia
te conocen pues tu eres muy
“particular” en relación a lo
que le das a tu pancita. Pues
cuando sales a comer eliges y escoges
muy inteligentemente. Eres listo! Tu
Invita a tu mejor amigo/a
a compartir esta “aventura”.
ESCORPION (Oct. 23 -
Nov. 21) - Pidele un deseo
a la luna nueva para el dia 5.
Puede que contenga el deseo
para que tengas la capacidad
de imaginar los motivos de
esos amigos cercanos que tu sientes
están por “hacer algo”. Ese “algo” es lo
que tu necesitas averiguar. Lo lograrás si
tu platicas con aquellos que algo saben.
Pregunta por alli y vas a encontrar mucha
información.
SAGITARIO (Nov. 22 - Dic.
21) - “Sentirte muy bien” es
un anhelo que llega a ti en
esta semana. Tú platicas
con mucha gente. Esta
conversación podría revelar
alguna información que puede ser usada
en tu contra. Se inteligente y “cuidado con
tu boca” así tus palabras no regresaran a ti
para atraparte. ¡La discreción es tu motivo
ahora!
By Joyce Steinecke
ARIES (Mar. 21 - Apr. 20) - Admit it!
Sometimes you are in such a hurry
that you sign papers that you haven’t read
thoroughly, etc. This week, however, it’s a
must for you to read contracts, etc. extra
carefully. Also, in any financial deals,
consult those in the know before signing!
You’ll be so glad that you did this!
TAURUS (Apr. 21 - May 20) - You are
a fair person! You expect others to
do their share of the work, both at home
and at work! If you find slackers, remind
them gently how to “play the game” of
responsibility. Letting anyone put more
burden on you without your speaking up
will cause this to happen again. So be
firm!
GEMINI (May 21 - June 20) - Take
time out on the 7th to romance
your number one squeeze! Venus
is wonderfully aspected for such an
adventure! So, sing to your beloved, write
a poem, or do whatever you consider
romantic to please your darling. If you
don’t have one, select that special person
for love...MMMM!
CANCER (June 21 - July 22) - Do
you have a pet...a turtle, doggie or
kitty? If not, now is the week to seek out
that lucky pet to be your own! The local
Humane Society has a variety of pets
from which to choose so take your pick!
Of course this lucky pet will be spoiled by
you as your sign in know for CARING!
LEO (July 23 - Aug. 22) - How you
Leos love to play games of chance!
Jupiter wants to help you win now! But
what will you choose to play...cards,
lottery, a trip to play the slots? You don’t
have to spend lots of the green stuff...just
enough to say that you PLAYED. This will
add to the zest for life that you sometimes
need!
VIRGO (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22) - Your
family and friends know that you are
“particular” what you put in your tummy.
So when you “dine out” you pick and
choose wisely. Smart you! Your tender
tummy thanks you and you reap the
reward of being choosy what you eat!
Smart you refrain from lecturing others
on eating habits, too, don’t you!
LIBRA (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22) - How long
has it been since you delved into the
big trunk in your attic? You’ll be amazed
what’s in there. The treasures you’ll
find might be worth $$$ but photos you
find will take you back in time and fond
memories come flooding into your happy
heart. Have your best friend along on this
“’adventure”
SCORPIO (Oct. 23 – Nov .21) -
Make a wish on the new moon on
the 5th! It might contain the desire to be
able to figure out the motives of some
close associates whom you feel are “up
to something”. This “something” is what
you need to find out. You will if you talk to
those “in the know.” Ask around and find
out plenty!
SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)
- That “feel good” feeling sweeps
over you this week. You chat with lots of
people. This idle “talking” could reveal
information that could be used again you.
Smart you will therefore “monitor your
mouth” so your words won’t come back
to haunt you. Discretion if the motto for
you now!
CAPRICORNIO (Dic. 22 -
Ene. 19) - Los Capricornio
valoran mucho a sus amigos,
algunos de los cuales han
tenido por años! Y tu eres
muy especial para a quien
considerar “amigo”. Comunicate con ellos
ahora.
hiendo. ¡Se sentirán más cercanos a ti si
lo haces!
ACUARIO (Ene. 20 - Feb. 18) - Sociabilizar
con gentes de otras culturas
no solamente abrira tu mente
e intereses, sino que podria
impulsarte a aprender su
idioma. Aprender otro idioma
a parte de tu lengua nativa no
solo expande tus conocimientos sino te da
la oportunidad de apreciar a otras culturas
mucho más. Talvez Chino...?
PISCIS (Feb. 19 - Mar. 20) - Tu habilidad
compartes tu tiempo y tienes
paciencia para escuchar
tranquilamente. Estos amigos
confían en tu discreción al no
repetir lo que te han contado. Asegurate
entonces de guardar sus confesiones
estrictamente “confidenciales”. Algunos se
pueden convertir en “grandes amigos”.
CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19) -
Cappies value their friends, many
of whom they’ve had for years! You are
“particular” whom you consider to be
“friends”. Be sure and keep in touch with
them now!. Take time to e-mail. Better
yet, phone them and catch up with what’s
happening to them. They will feel closer
to you if you do!
AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18) -
Socializing with folks from other
cultures will not only expand your mind
and interests, but might also impel you
to study their language. Adding another
language to your native tongue will not
only expand your fine mind but enable
you to appreciate other cultures that
much more. Chinese, anyone?
PISCES (Feb. 19 - March 20) - Your
ability to listen to the problems
of others will take up lots of your time
this week if kind-hearted you spare
the time and has the patience to listen
quietly! These anxious folks rely on your
discretion in not repeating their remarks.
Make sure, then, to keep their chats
strictly “private.” Some of them could
become “good friends.”
