EL CHILE PROTAGONISTA DE LA GRAN “PELÍCULA” CLIMÁTICA
Ofrecer a Chile como anfitrión de la COP25 fue una sabia
decisión. No me refiero solo al acto de albergar una cumbre
climática de tal envergadura, sino a entrar en el debate
climático con protagonismo.
En el mundo climático pasa algo parecido a lo que pasa en
Hollywood: ya son conocidas las grandes estrellas. A nivel de
política climáticas los roles estelares son de California, Suecia o
China. América Latina tiene roles más secundarios. Con la COP,
Chile incursionó como protagonista de la película sumando un
elenco además que el mundo desconocía, como las Ministras
Carolina Schmidt (del Medio Ambiente) y Gloria Hutt
(Transportes), Gonzalo Muñoz, el campeón de alto nivel, o la
científica Maisa Rojas, designada por el Presidente Sebastián
Piñera para liderar a la comunidad científica chilena en el
camino a la COP. Esto último es vital porque la ciencia debe
tener un rol más protagónico en nuestros debates públicos.
Es una historia que me gusta y que creció sin precedentes en
2019. Por ejemplo, ver al Ministro de Hacienda, Felipe Larraín,
junto al ex Ministro del Medio Ambiente Marcelo Mena -ahora
en el Banco Mundial- liderando los nuevos esfuerzos de
finanzas climáticas. Como también veo la apuesta chilena por el
bono verde de 1,500 millones de dólares. Amigos, esto es
equivalente a decir ¡Vamos por el Óscar!
Y ojo, que nos encante esta historia no significa no ver los
desafíos chilenos, como la desigualdad o el alto uso de carbón.
Mi punto es otro. Esta nueva “película” chilena nos inspira a
superar la psicología de que solo las grandes potencias
cuentan para avanzar en la lucha contra la crisis climática o
para dejar de victimizarnos como región y asumir con
responsabilidad este desafío aunque no seamos las naciones
más grandes. Ya es hora de reconocer que la región está para
más. Tener confianza en nuestras capacidades es vital.
Hablemos más de soluciones y menos de problemas.
Justamente para eso, desde Costa Rica lanzamos un podcast
latinoamericano llamado “Ponerse las Pilas”, con historias
pragmáticas que ya incluyen la de Carlos Finat, de ACERA, y la
de Tamara Berríos, de BYD, por Chile y la de Gonzalo Muñoz
como Campeón del clima. Vendrán más historias chilenas.
De vuelta a la COP25. Hoy Chile es tratado como un líder, lo
cual crea expectativas que repaso:
1. Formalizar una meta más estricta de reducción de
emisiones para 2030 que la actual.
2. Cumplir con el calendario de cierre de centrales a carbón
e iniciar un diseño del Plan de Descarbonización para toda
la economía (a 2050 o antes) consistente con la meta de 1.5
grados.
3. Contar con una estrategia diplomática que lleve a un
buen paquete de decisiones en la COP, sumar aliados.
4. Integrar temas no tradicionales (como océanos) e
implicar a actores no estatales.
5. Promover la acción climática y mover a los gobiernos
hacia metas más estrictas.
La osada idea de traer la COP25 a Chile pondrá en vitrina todos
los cambios positivos que están en gestación y que deben
enorgullecer a quienes desde hace años trabajan en esta visión.
ACERA es uno de ellos ¡Enhorabuena!

ACERA LANZA CAMPAÑA #SOÑEMOSENERGÍA2030 EN
EL MARCO DE LA COP25
La Asociación Chilena de Energías Renovables y Almacenamiento, ACERA AG., está
desarrollando una campaña de comunicaciones para sensibilizar al sector energía, y a la
ciudadanía en general, a través de mensajes positivos y ambiciosos sobre la importancia de
iniciar de forma urgente los cambios necesarios para alcanzar emisiones netas cero,
reforzando la importancia de las energías renovables

GEOTÉRMICA DE SUDAMÉRICA!
La campaña #SoñemosEnergía2030, que cuenta con el patrocinio oficial de la COP25, el
Ministerio de Energía y el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente, se desarrollará en tres etapas. La
primera, "30 sueños para el 2030", busca presentar 30 sueños de un diverso grupo de
actores con miras a la próxima década, a través de cápsulas audiovisuales (REVISA EL
TEASER AQUÍ). Posteriormente, en el mes de noviembre, se realizará un seminario de cierre
en el cual se debatirá “Cómo hacer posibles los sueños” y, finalmente, estos serán
compartidos también con representantes de Chile y el mundo en la Green Zone de la COP25.
De la misma manera, se recopilarán los sueños y ambiciones de la ciudadanía, tanto en
Santiago como en diferentes regiones del país. Estas cápsulas se viralizarán a través de las
Redes Sociales de ACERA y de los participantes, utilizando el mensaje “Comparte tu
ambición #SoñemosEnergía2030” / “Share your ambition #DreamingEnergy2030”.
Además de las cápsulas audiovisuales, se registrará cada sueño por escrito y se recopilará
en un libro digital para difundir. El libro incluirá una editorial de ACERA en la cual se plasme
el sueño central de la asociación al 2030, junto con todas las miradas para la próxima
década.
AVANZAN LOS PREPARATIVOS PARA LA COP25
El Ministro de Obras Públicas, Alfredo Moreno, junto al Gerente General de la COP25,
Cristián Varela, supervisaron los trabajos en el terreno que albergará la mayor cumbre
mundial de Cambio Climático, a realizarse en el Parque Cerrillos en la zona sur-poniente de
Santiago, entre el 2 y el 13 de diciembre.
“El Presidente Piñera tiene un gran interés en que esta Cumbre se realice y que avancemos
en materia de Cambio Climático, eso también es una motivación en la realización de los
trabajos para un encuentro de esta magnitud”, informó el Ministro Alfredo Moreno.
El Gerente General de la COP25, Cristian Varela, destacó respecto a la realización de la
Cumbre que “La COP25, más allá del evento internacional, es una oportunidad para que
Chile transite hacia el desarrollo sostenible con miras a la meta trazada por el Presidente
Sebastián Piñera de convertirnos en un país carbono neutral el 2050”.
Los trabajos, que estarán terminados el 15 de noviembre, contemplan siete hectáreas de
estacionamientos (VIP, autoridades y generales) y 700 metros de la vereda de conexión con
el Metro Cerrillos. También se habilitarán en forma permanente 10 hectáreas de paisajismo
con más de 2.000 árboles, arbustos y plantas.

ACERA SE SUMA A LA MOVILIDAD CERO EMISIONES
La electromovilidad se está implementando en nuestro país a paso firme, y con ella vienen
diversos desafíos asociados. Es en esta línea que el gremio renovable decidió establecer un
convenio con E-Mov, empresa dedicada al transporte multimodal de ejecutivos con
vehículos 100% eléctricos, con un enfoque en la disminución de CO2 y contaminantes en
la atmósfera.
¡ÉSTA ES LA PRIMERA PLANTA
GEOTÉRMICA DE SUDAMÉRICA!
Germán Velasco, Gerente General de E-Mov, señaló tras el encuentro que “estamos muy
contentos de poder concretar este convenio con ACERA, ya que nos permitirá acercarnos
a todas las empresas afiliadas al gremio renovable y ampliar así el número de compañías
que disfruten del servicio E-Mov 100% sustentable y se sumen al transporte limpio como
aporte a la mitigación del cambio climático”.
Por su parte, el Presidente de ACERA, José Ignacio Escobar, destacó que “era
necesario y evidente que el gremio que impulsa energía limpia se sumara a la movilidad baja
en emisiones. Gracias a este convenio podremos acceder más fácilmente a este
espectacular servicio de transporte cero emisiones para desplazarnos sin contaminar y de
manera sustentable”.
Con la firma de este convenio ACERA se suma oficialmente a la electromovilidad para
aportar, ya no solo desde el impulso de las energías renovables, sino que también desde el
transporte, a la mitigación del cambio climático. Con este servicio, ACERA reducirá un
porcentaje importante de su huella de carbono, el cual será validado con la certificación
anual que entrega la Agencia de Sostenibilidad Energética.
SE MUEVE EL SECTOR ENERGÉTICO: FLEXIBILIDAD E IMPUESTO VERDE
La dominancia de las energías renovables en la matriz eléctrica nacional plantea un desafío
de flexibilización del sistema. Es en ese contexto que el Ministerio de Energía convocó a
una “Comisión Asesora para la Flexibilidad en el Sistema Eléctrico” que quedó
conformada por especialistas del sector y participantes de equipos técnicos del mismo
Ministerio, la CNE y el Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional.
La labor de la comisión será proponer modificaciones al marco regulatorio para que la
integración de la energía renovable sea eficiente y segura en el sistema. Para esto, el
Ministerio solicitó la opinión de distintas asociaciones gremiales y centros de estudios
especializados en energía para ampliar las visiones. ACERA, gremio representante del
sector renovable, es uno de los invitados a colaborar.

Otro de los temas que tuvo alto movimiento este periodo fue el Impuesto a las Emisiones
(Impuesto Verde), a través de la aprobación de la reforma tributaria en la Cámara de
Diputados, y su posterior paso al Senado. La iniciativa fue aprobada con 84 votos a favor
y 60 en contra.
El impuesto verde a las fuentes fijas entró en régimen el 1 de enero de 2017 y su primer
proceso de reporte, cobro y recaudación finalizó el 30 de abril de 2018. La reforma propone
varias modificaciones, que tienen por objeto perfeccionar este instrumento, con el
propósito principal de otorgar certezas respecto a los distintos elementos que componen
este gravamen, según lo indicado por la Cámara de Diputados de Chile.

244 MW DE NUEVOS PROYECTOS ERNC FUERON DECLARADOS EN CONSTRUCCIÓN
Durante agosto de 2019 el Servicio de Evaluación Ambiental aprobó cuatro proyectos solares fotovoltaicos, sumando 34,1 MW.
Por otra parte, cuatro proyectos solares fotovoltaicos fueron admitidos a calificación durante este mes, representando 244,8 MW.
En la resolución exenta número 490, del 20 de agosto de 2019, publicada por la CNE, se declararon en construcción 10 nuevos proyectos ERNC,
totalizando 266 MW.
Además, se anunció que nueve proyectos ERNC entraron en periodo de pruebas, lo que representa 41 MW.

ESTADÍSTICAS
Durante julio de 2019 las ERNC aportaron el 17,8% de la energía total del sistema.
La energía eólica fue la que más contribuyó con un 6,82%, lo que significó un aumento del 6% con respecto a la generación del mes
anterior. Le siguió la energía solar con un 5,75%, aumentando en un 11% con respecto a junio de 2019. La energía proveniente de
centrales mini-hidro estuvo en tercer lugar con 3,01%, representando un aumento del 11%. A continuación, estuvo el aporte proveniente
de la bioenergía, con un 1,98%, disminuyendo en un 8% con respecto al mes anterior. Finalmente estuvo la energía geotérmica, que
contribuyó con un 0,25%, lo que significó una disminución del 4% con respecto a la generación de junio.

Adrián es argentino, está casado y tiene una hija. Es Ingeniero en
Computación de la Universidad de Mendoza, Argentina, tiene un posgrado
en Ingeniería Gerencial en Administración de Empresas y una Maestría en
Administración de Negocios en la Universidad Tecnológica Nacional de
Mendoza.
¿Cuáles son los productos o servicios que entrega su empresa y hacia qué
tipo(s) de ERNC?
Ofrecemos una amplia gama de servicios para los Sistemas Eléctricos de
Potencia. Brindamos soluciones EPC asumiendo la responsabilidad total de un
proyecto, además de mantenimiento y asistencia en la operación de sistemas
automáticos de control.
¿Cuáles son las novedades o cambios de su empresa en el último tiempo?
Entregamos servicios de asistencia sobre la operación de los esquemas
suministrados, permitiendo aportar seguridad y gran respaldo sobre las
operaciones y maniobras que nuestros clientes realicen sobre aquellas
instalaciones involucradas en estos esquemas.
¿Cuáles son los principales proyectos -o temas- que están trabajando en el
último tiempo en torno a las ERNC o el medioambiente? En caso de ser
plantas de generación, ¿dónde se ubican? ¿Cuáles son sus características
centrales?
Protegemos las líneas que conforman la doble terna de 220kV, comprendidas
entre la S/E Maitencillo y la S/E Nogales. Optimizamos el despacho de los
parques ERNC. También nos preocupamos de la estabilidad del sistema, ante una
completa desvinculación eléctrica entre la S/E Charrúa y S/E Ancoa. Mantenemos
los niveles de tensión sobre líneas de 500Kv y 220kV entre la S/E Alto Jahuel y la
S/E Ancoa. Además, realizamos sistemas de lectura remota de protecciones.
¿Qué elementos caracterizan y/o diferencian a su empresa?
Dentro de los elementos que caracterizan a nuestra empresa están el
profesionalismo, compromiso y responsabilidad, confianza e integridad,
honestidad y un ambiente laboral saludable y seguro.
¿Cuál considera que es la importancia de la participación ERNC en el
sistema eléctrico del país?
Estas energías son recursos limpios e inagotables que nos proporciona la
naturaleza. Su empleo nos entrega un sinfín de ventajas, el más importante,
reducir el efecto invernadero y proteger nuestro planeta.
¿Por qué recomendaría ser socio de ACERA?
Por la trayectoria y prestigio que han logrado adquirir en el mercado de las
energías renovables en Chile y la disponibilidad de información y datos de los
proyectos en el mercado eléctrico chileno que tienen. Además, el acercamiento
entre los socios y las relaciones es de vital importancia para este tipo de
asociaciones, donde ACERA lo cumple a cabalidad.

Fernando es de nacionalidad española, vivió en Chile durante seis años, está
casado y tiene dos hijas. Es licenciado en Derecho de la Universidad
Complutense de Madrid, ha desarrollado toda su carrera profesional en
compañías relacionadas con la energía solar. Los últimos 10 años ha estado
enfocado en el mercado latinoamericano.
¿Cuáles son los productos o servicios que entrega su empresa y hacia qué
tipo(s) de ERNC?
X-ELIO es un operador independiente de Energía Renovable de origen solar.
Invertimos en nuestros propios parques y comercializamos energía generada por
ellos.
¿Cuáles son los principales proyectos -o temas- que están trabajando en el
último tiempo en torno a las ERNC o el medioambiente? En caso de ser
plantas de generación, ¿dónde se ubican? ¿Cuáles son sus características
centrales?
Operamos una planta solar fotovoltaica en Antofagasta denominada Uribe Solar,
con una potencia de 57 MWP. Dentro de los planes de nuestra compañía está
poner en marcha durante 2020 otro proyecto de 57 MWp denominado La Cruz
Solar y seguir incrementando la cartera de desarrollo de proyectos.
¿Qué elementos caracterizan y/o diferencian a su empresa?
Integración vertical. Abarcamos desde la promoción del proyecto hasta la
comercialización de la energía, manteniendo los activos en nuestra propiedad.
Esto es posible gracias al capital humano del que dispone la compañía.
¿Cuál considera que es la importancia de la participación ERNC en el
sistema eléctrico del país?
Sin duda, Chile está haciendo un gran esfuerzo en la descarbonización de su
matriz, posible gracias a la madurez de las tecnologías renovables que hoy en día
ya compiten en precio con las energías convencionales.
¿Por qué recomendaría ser socio de ACERA?
ACERA ha realizado durante los últimos años una labor tremendamente
encomiable de concientizar en todos los sectores chilenos. Sin duda, las
inversiones y descarbonización de la matriz de Chile no hubieran sido posible sin
el empuje de ACERA y la labor que ha venido haciendo el gremio.
¿Cuáles son las novedades o cambios de su empresa en el último tiempo?
Como novedad, a nivel global, podemos comentar la puesta en marcha de la
planta solar Guanajuato, de 73 MWp en México. Esto lo realizamos en octubre de
2018.

CHILE AS THE LEAD OF THE GREAT CLIMATE “MOVIE”
Offering Chile as host to COP25 was a wise decision. And not
only concerning the act of accomodating such an important
climate summit, but also entering into the climate debate with a
leading role.
Something similar to Hollywood happens in the climate world:
big stars are already known. At the climate policy level, the
leading roles are held by California, Sweden or China. Latin
America has more secondary roles. With COP, Chile is venturing
into the film as the protagonist, including actors unknown
to the world in the cast, such as Ministers Carolina Schmidt
(Environment) and Gloria Hutt (Transport), Gonzalo Muñoz, a
high-level champion, or scientist Maisa Rojas, assigned by
President Sebastián Piñera to lead the Chilean scientific
community along the path to the COP. This latter is vital since
science must have a more protagonist role in our public debates.
It’s a story I like, that experienced an unprecedented growth
during 2019. For example, seeing the Minister of Finance,
Felipe Larraín, together with former Minister of Environment
Marcelo Mena -now in the World Bank- leading the new efforts
concerning climate finance. Or the Chilean commitment to the
1,500 million dollar green bonus. This, my fellows, is equivalent
to saying “let’s go for the Oscar!”.
But don’t misunderstand me. The fact of loving the story does
not mean we are unaware of the Chilean challenges, such as
inequality or the high use of coal. This new Chilean “film”
inspires us to overcome the psychology of thinking that only the
great powers count for advancing in the fight against the
climate crisis or to stop victimizing us as a region and assume
with responsibility this challenge in spite of not being the largest
countries. It is time to acknowledge that the region
may play a more important role. Believing more in our capabilities
is vital.
Let’s talk more about solutions and less about problems.
Precisely for this purpose, we have launched from Costa Rica a
Latin American podcast called “Ponerse las Pilas”, (“Get on
the stick”), with pragmatic stories that already include those of
Carlos Finat, from ACERA, and Tamara Berríos, from BYD,
from Chile, and the one of Gonzalo Muñoz as the climate
Champion. More Chilean stories will follow.
Back to COP25. Chile is nowadays treated as a leader, which
gives rise to the following expectations:
1. Formalizing a more strict emission reduction for 2030
than the current one.
2. Complying with the closure of coal-fueled plants and
starting the design of a Decarbonization Plan for all the
economy (by 2050 or before), consistent with the 1.5 degree
goal.
3. Having a diplomatic strategy aimed at achieving a good
package of decisions at the COP, gaining allies.
4. Integrating non-traditional themes (like oceans) and
involving non-state actors.
5. Promoting climate action and moving governments
towards more strict goals.
The daring idea of bringing COP25 to Chile will showcase all the
positive changes that are in the pipeline, of which all those that
have been working for years on this vision must feel proud.
ACERA is one of them. Congratulations!

ACERA LAUNCHED THE CAMPAIGN #DREAMINGENERGY2030 WITHIN
THE FRAMEWORK OF COP25
The Chilean Association of Renewable Energies and Storage, ACERA AG., is carrying out a
communications campaign through positive and ambitious messages, aimed at raising the
energy sector’s -and the general population’s- awareness on the importance of beginning
urgently the changes required to reach zero net emissions, reinforcing the importance of
renewable energies as a mitigation factor of

LA PRIMERA PLANTA
GEOTÉRMICA DE SUDAMÉRICA!
The #DreamingEnergy2030 campaign, sponsored officially by COP25, the Ministry of
Energy, and the Ministry of Environment, will be carried out in three stages. The first one,
“30 dreams for 2030”, seeks to show 30 dreams of a diverse group of actors concerning the
next decade, through audiovisual capsules (CHECK THE TEASER HERE). Then, in
November, a closing seminar will be held with a debate on “How to make dreams possible”,
and finally they will be shared with representatives from Chile and the world at the Green
Zone of COP25.
In the same way, the dreams and ambition of the population, both from Santiago and
different regions of the country, will be collected. These capsules shall be viralized on
ACERA’s and the participants’ Social Networks, using the message “Comparte tu
ambición #SoñemosEnergía2030” / “Share your ambition #DreamingEnergy2030”.
In addition to the audiovisual capsules, every dream will be recorded in writing and
collected in a digital book to be disseminated. The book will include an editorial by ACERA
where the Association will set forth its main dream for 2030, together with all the views for
the next decade.
PREPARATIONS ARE GOING AHEAD FOR COP25
The Minister of Public Works, Alfredo Moreno, together with COP25’s General Manager,
Cristián Varela, oversaw the works carried out in the place where the greatest world
Summit on Climate Change will be held, that is, Parque Cerrillos, in the southwest of
Santiago, between 2 and 13 December.
“It’s in President Piñera’s great interest that this Summit takes place and progress is
made in Climate Change, and this is also a motivation for the performance of the Jobs for
an encounter of this magnitude”, informed Minister Alfredo Moreno.
Concerning the Summit, the General Manager of COP25, Cristian Varela, pointed out
that “beyond being an international event, COP25 is an opportunity for Chile to advance
towards a sustainable development, according to the goal established by President
Sebastián Piñera of becoming a carbon-neutral country by 2050”.
The works, that will be finished on November 15, include seven hectares of parking lots
(VIP, authorities, and general) and 700 meters of connection with the Cerrillos Subway
Station. In addition, 10 hectares of gardens will be habilitated, with over 2,000 trees,
bushes, and plants.

ACERA ADDS UP TO ZERO-EMISSION MOBILITY
Electromobility is being implemented in our country at a steady pace, and it conveys
several associated challenges. In this line, the renewable energy association decided to
establish an agreement with E-Mov, a company devoted to the multimodal transport of
executives with 100% electric cars, focused on reducing CO2 and pollutants in the

atmosphere.
GEOTÉRMICA DE SUDAMÉRICA!
Germán Velasco, General Manager of E-Mov, stated after the encounter that “we are
very satisfied in establishing this agreement with ACERA, since it will help us to get closer
to all the companies members of this association, and therefore increase the number of
companies that can enjoy the 100% sustainable E-Mov service, adding up to the clean
transport as a way of contributing to climate change mitigation.
ACERA’s President, José Ignacio Escobar, on his part, pointed out that “it was
necessary and evident for the association that boosts clean energy to add up to
low-emission mobility. Thanks to this agreement, we will have an easier access to this
spectacular zero-emission transport service to travel without polluting and in a sustainable
way”.
By signing this agreement, ACERA adds up officially to electromobility to contribute with
climate change mitigation not only by driving renewable energies, but also through
transport. With this service, ACERA will reduce significantly its carbon footprint, which will
be validated with the annual certification provided by the Energy Sustainability Agency.
THE ENERGY SECTOR IS MOVING:
FLEXIBILITY AND GREEN TAX
The dominance of renewable energies in the national electric matrix poses a system
flexibilization challenge. In this context, the Ministry of Energy convened an “Advising
Commission for the Electric System Flexibility”, formed by specialists of the sector and
participants of technical teams from the same Ministry, the CNE, and the National Electric
Coordinator.
The commission’s task will be to propose modifications to the regulatory framework so that
renewable energy’s integration is efficient and safe in the system. To this end, and with the
purpose of broadening the views on the subject, the Ministry asked for the opinion of
different trade associations and study centers specialized in energy. ACERA, the
association representing the renewable sector, is one of the entities invited to collaborate.

Another theme that had an important movement during this period was the Emission Tax
(Green Tax), through the approval of tax reform at the Chamber of Deputies, which was
now submitted to the Senate. The initiative was approved with 84 votes in favor and 60
against.
The green tax on stationary sources entered into force on January 1, 2017, and its first
reporting, billing, and collection ended on April 30, 2018. The reform proposes several
modifications, aimed at perfecting this instrument with the main purpose of providing
certainty related to the different elements that compose this tax, as stated by the Chilean
Chamber of Deputies.

244 MW OF NEW NCRE PROJECTS WERE DECLARED IN CONSTRUCTION
During August 2019, the Environmental Assessment Service granted the environmental approval to four solar photovoltaic projects, totaling 34.1
MW.
On the other hand, four solar photovoltaic projects were admitted to environmental permit process during this month, totaling 244.8 MW.
In the Exempt Resolution Nº 490 of August 20, 2019, published by the National Energy Commission, ten new NCRE projects were declared in
construction, totaling 266 MW.
In addition, nine NCRE projects began their test period, totaling 41 MW.

STATISTICS
During July 2019, NCRE’s contribution to the total energy system amounted to 17.8%.
The highest contribution was wind energy, with a 6.82%, which represents a 6% increase as compared to the prior month’s generation,
followed by solar energy with a 5.75%, increasing by 11% with respect to June, 2019. Energy from mini hydro plants was placed third with
a 3.01%, representing an 11% increase, followed by bioenergy, with a 1.98%, which represents an 8% decrease with respect to the prior
month. Finally, geothermal energy contributed with a 0.25%, which meant a 4% decrease as compared to June.

Adrián is Argentinean, married, and has one daughter. He is a Computer
Engineer from the Mendoza University, Argentina, has a postgraduate
diploma in Management Engineering and a Master Degree in Business
Administration from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional de Mendoza.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of
NCREs?
We offer a wide range of services for Power Electric Systems. We provide EPC
solutions taking the whole responsibility of a project, in addition to the
maintenance and operation assistance in the operation of automatic control
systems.
Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your
Company?
We assist our customers in the operation of the supplied schemes, providing
safety and backup for the operations and maneuvers in the installations involved
in these schemes.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on
concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans,
where are they located and which are their main characteristics?
We protect the lines comprising the 220kV double circuit between Maitencillo and
Nogales substations. We optimize the dispatch of NCRE parks. We also ensure
the system’s stability, facing a complete electric disconnection between Charrúa
and Ancoa substations. We maintain voltage levels on 500kV and 220kV lines
between Alto Jahuel and Ancoa substations. In addition, we carry out distant
protection reading system.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
Among the elements that distinguish our company, we can mention
professionalism, commitment and responsibility, confidence and integrity,
honesty, and a sound and safe work environment.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
These energies are clean and inexhaustible resources provided by nature. Using
them gives us boundless advantages, the most important of which are the
reduction of greenhouse effect and the protection of our planet.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
Because of the track record and prestige they have gained in the Chilean
renewable energy market and the availability of information and data they have on
the projects in the Chilean electric market. Besides, establishing a close
relationship among the members is of vital importance for this kind of
associations, and ACERA fully complies with it.

Fernando is Spanish. He lived in Chile for six years, he is married and has
two daughters. He holds a degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense
de Madrid, has developed all his professional career in companies related to
solar energy, and during the last 10 years he has been focused on the Latin
American market.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what kind(s) of
NCREs?
X-ELIO is an independent operator of solar-based Renewable Energy. We invest
in our own parks and market the energy generated by them.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working on
concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation plans,
where are they located and which are their main characteristics?
We are operating a solar photovoltaic plant in Antofagasta called Uribe Solar, of 57
MWP. Our company’s plans also include the implementation in 2020 of another 57
MWp project called La Cruz Solar and continue expanding our project
development portfolio.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
Vertical integration. We cover all the process from the promotion of the project
until the energy marketing, keeping the asset ownership. This is possible due to
the company’s human capital.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
There is no doubt that Chile is making a huge effort towards its matrix
decarbonization, which is possible due to the maturity of the renewable
technologies that are nowadays competing in price with conventional energies.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
ACERA has carried out a commendable job during the last years in raising the
awareness of all the Chilean sectors. Tee investments and decarbonization of the
Chilean matrix would have certainly not been possible without ACERA’s drive and
the job performed by the Association.
Which have been the latest new services or changes introduced by your
Company?
As a novelty at a global level, our solar plant Guanajuato, of 73 MWp, located in
Mexico, started operating in October 2018.
