To kick off the Vibrant Acadiana initiative, 1A committed to three initial<br />

In March, 1A hosted our second CivicCon Acadiana event to unveil the new<br />
regional dashboard, fulfilling the third of these three initial commitments.<br />
GOOD JOBS CHALLENGE<br />
1A partnered to submit two applications<br />
for the EDA’s Good Jobs Challenge:<br />
1. A regional application submitted by<br />
the UL Lafayette Blanco Center<br />
2. A statewide application submitted<br />
by the Louisiana Board of Regents<br />
The need for talent development and<br />
economic diversification sparked the<br />
“why” behind 1A’s 55 by 25 initiative.<br />
This Good Jobs Challenge opportunity<br />
would help represent the “how” of 55 by 25 – by providing resources<br />
to support collaborative skills training for high-demand occupations in<br />
growing industries.<br />
1A would serve as the backbone organization for each proposal, helping<br />
to staff and operate sector partnerships for target industries. The regional<br />
application targets the healthcare, IT, and advanced manufacturing<br />
industries. The statewide application targets the skilled trades industry in<br />
the Acadiana region.<br />

As a tool for positive and proactive messaging around the Vibrant<br />
Acadiana initiative, 1A launched The Vibrant Acadiana Message, a new<br />
monthly newsletter to help raise civic IQ and celebrate bright spots in<br />
