22.11.2010 37 CONCLUSIONS 1 • The use of an addon battery with plugin capability for grid electricity uptake was proven to be highly successful • On average, some 25 % reduction in fuel use, and at best, 40 to 50 % reduction achieved • Both urban type of driving and longdistance extra urban commuting were analysed • Urban driving offered somewhat larger potentials in fuel savings, because of lower speeds and adequate capacity of the battery
