will ensure that even if a very late redistribution
of a quota place is made to any of those
federations, that the athlete is then already
entered and can accept the “Wild Card”. Exact
details are included in the circular. We urge all
member federations as well as their respective
NOCs to pay careful attention to this letter.
issF WOrld cup series 2012
Preparations for the forthcoming World Cup
Series are going very well. The year will start
with the first Shotgun World Cup in Tucson,
Arizona at the end of March. Unfortunately
the ISSF had to cancel the World Cup for
Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun which was scheduled
to be held in Beijing, CHN in June. The
Organizing Committee contacted the ISSF
because they had been informed that due to
the National Congress, several additional security
and safety issues were now required,
making it impossible to hold this ISSF World
Cup during the proposed dates. After a detailed
evaluation and discussion, the ISSF
decided to cancel this World Cup without
any replacement since most ISSF Member
Federations had already planned their preparation
for the Olympic Games and, therefore,
it was not possible to find a replacement city
for the same period. The ISSF did not want to
force its member federations to change their
existing plans. Therefore, the year 2012 will
only have three World Cups each for Rifle and
Pistol as well as for Shotgun.
lOndOn 2012 april
The second location in the 2012 World Cup
series will be the Pre-Olympic Test Event
and World Cup in London for Rifle, Pistol and
Shotgun in April. Shortly before this World
Cup the ISSF will also organize meetings of
the ISSF Executive Committee on April 14, followed
by the ISSF Administrative Council on
April 15 and finally the ordinary ISSF General
Assembly on April 17. All of these meetings
will be organized in the Grange Tower Hotel
in London. All Member Federations have already
received their invitations and the ISSF is
looking forward to successful meetings with
many participants. In case any ISSF Member
Federation is not able to personally attend
the General Assembly in London please be
reminded that each Member Federation can
give their proxy to another federation.
The World Cup and Olympic Test Event
in London will follow directly after the ISSF
meetings. We are sure that this will give
many ISSF Member Federations and Officials
a chance to see our beautiful Olympic Venue
at the Royal Artillery Barracks (RAB). This
temporary venue will be very impressive. The
ISSF is also very satisfied with all other Olympic
Games preparations. All constructions are
finished and the final installation of the electronic
targets is taking place. The venue will
be ready for the Test Event in April.
The World Cup Series will then continue
with a Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, ITA followed
by the World Cups in Milan and Munich
for the Rifle and Pistol Events.
issF WOrld cup Finals
After the Olympic Games in London in July
and August 2012, the ISSF will organize its
yearly World Cup Finals where all medal winners
of the Olympic Games will be invited.
Therefore the World Cup Final 2012 will be
of a very high standard where we can look
forward to exciting competitions. For the
Shotgun events, the World Cup Final will be
organized in Maribor, SLO in September and
for the Rifle and Pistol events in Bangkok,
THA in October 2012.
The ISSF wishes all athletes, coaches and
officials a very successful season, which this
year includes the most important event of all:
the Olympic Games. We are confident that all
friends of the shooting sport will enjoy exciting
competitions with top performances. We
wish all shooters good luck in their endeavors
and look forward to welcoming all of you
at our 2012 competitions and championships
and at the Olympic Games.
