J.H. Hegetschweiler seine 3 Versuche, den Tödi zu besteigen,
beschrieb. Die kol. Karte zeigt «Todigebirg und dessen Umgebungen»,
die Aquatintatafel eine «Ansicht der Gletscher auf
der obern Sandalp, Canton Glarus 6000 ü. Meer» und die gest.
Tafel, eine «Ansicht der Sennhütte auf Sand-Oberstaffel». Im

Halder de St. Gall) coloriée à la main + titre avec vignette

Précurseur des guides d’Ebel et un des premiers vrais manuels
pour voyageurs dans les Alpes (Ziak). Première édition française,
rare. Augmentée, par rapport à la première éd. allemande
de 1787, de près du double de pages et illustrée d’une carte
coloriée. Intéressant guide de voyage sur la Suisse. La première
partie de l’ouvrage consiste en un tableau volumineux des distances
séparant les principales agglomérations et localités de
la Suisse et des pays limitrophes. La deuxième partie, en petits
caractères, est une liste alphabétique assez détaillée de toutes les
villes, bourgades et autres lieux de passage de la Suisse, avec
une notice descriptive proportionnée à l’importance du lieu. Ce
précurseur du guide d’Ebel est peu courant. Perret mentionne
une planche dépliante gravée et coloriée et (en plus) une carte.
Ceci est erroné! Il existe une réédition à la date de 1799 (cf.
exempl. de la Bibl. Nat. Suisse). L’édition orig. en allemand

gefalteten Profiltafeln, 4 (2 mehrfach gefalteten) lithographierten
Karten und 2 gefalteten Tabellen. - Hellwag (1827-1882)
wurde 1875 als Nachfolger Gerwigs, leitender Oberingenieur
der Gotthard-Bahn. Sein im vorliegenden Band detailliert beschriebenes
Projekt der Bahnstrecke fand der höheren Kosten
wegen nicht die Zustimmung der Bahngesellschaft und führte zu
juristischen Auseinandersetzungen, in denen Hellwag obsiegte.
Die Richtigkeit seiner Arbeit lässt sich auch daraus entnehmen,
