4. Volume sur pied (capital-bois)<br />
4.1 Volume sur pied<br />
<strong>La</strong> fonction de pro<strong>du</strong>ction de la <strong>forêt</strong> <strong>jurassi<strong>en</strong>ne</strong> est incontestable <strong>en</strong> regard<br />
des ess<strong>en</strong>ces <strong>et</strong> des peuplem<strong>en</strong>ts qui la constitu<strong>en</strong>t. Le matériel sur pied est<br />
une donnée importante qui perm<strong>et</strong> d'estimer l'état des ressources <strong>en</strong> bois<br />
<strong>du</strong> canton. Ram<strong>en</strong>é à l'hectare, le volume moy<strong>en</strong> des arbres vifs sur pied<br />
d'un diamètre supérieur à 12 cm est v<strong>en</strong>tilé par type de propriétaire dans le<br />
tableau 8 4 . Un hectare de <strong>forêt</strong> <strong>jurassi<strong>en</strong>ne</strong> conti<strong>en</strong>t ainsi <strong>en</strong> moy<strong>en</strong>ne 356<br />
m 3 de bois. Le volume sur pied est particulièrem<strong>en</strong>t élevé aux Franches -<br />

<strong>en</strong> m3/ha selon le type de propriétaire, pour le canton <strong>et</strong> par district.<br />
Ensemble analysé: Surface forestière accessible, sans les pâturages boisés.<br />
Montagnes, ainsi qu'<strong>en</strong> <strong>forêt</strong> privée. L'écart très important (81 m 3 /ha) <strong>en</strong>tre la<br />
<strong>forêt</strong> privée <strong>et</strong> la <strong>forêt</strong> publique peut surpr<strong>en</strong>dre. C<strong>et</strong>te valeur reflète cep<strong>en</strong>dant<br />
la t<strong>en</strong>dance à un abandon périodique de l'exploitation <strong>en</strong> <strong>forêt</strong> privée<br />
(r<strong>en</strong>tabilité <strong>en</strong> forte baisse, desserte souv<strong>en</strong>t insuffisante). En <strong>forêt</strong> publique,<br />
les exploitations se sont maint<strong>en</strong>ues à un niveau important (souti<strong>en</strong> à la filière<br />
régionale, prés<strong>en</strong>ce de personnel perman<strong>en</strong>t, <strong>et</strong>c.).<br />
