s.d. (1862?), gr. in-4to, oblong (23.5 x 33.5 cm), A series
of 12 hand-coloured lithographic views of tourist sites in
Luzern and Central Switzerland, (14.5 x 20.5 cm) without
title-page, highlighted with shellac, ms. on flyleaf: „le 15
juin 1862 par le plus beaux tems“, original publisher’s
decorative gold- and blind-blocked red cloth, with the

,Kappelgasse’ nicht immer angegeben wurde). Thema der
Ansichten sind vor allem die touristischen Anziehungspunkte:
Luzern, Vierwaldstättersee und Gotthardpassroute.
A lovely set of 12 views in Luzern and the surrounding regions
of Switzerland. Each lithography uses a blue and a beige tint
block, sometimes subtly shaded, to provide the background
colour of the sky, clouds and land, while the rest of the colours
were added by hand. The title appears on the original publisher’s
binding, and the name of the publisher at the foot of each print,
along with the title. We find some of these prints recorded for
the period 1862 to 1869, but an inscription in the present book,
dated 15 January 1862 rules out any later date. The prints are
unnumbered, but appear in the following order: 1) Lucerne vers
le Righi prise depuis le Cutsch [sic: = Gutsch]. / 2) Lucerne vers
le Mont Pilate. / 3) Monument élevé à Lucerne à la mémoire des
Gardes Suisses qui succombèrent à Paris dans la Journée du 10

notes. Avec les actes et autres pièces, servant de preuves
à cette Histoire. En 4 volumes. Genève, Fabri & Barrillot,

dépl. représ. deux grandes vues de Genève (côté Midy et
côté Septentrion), une carte dépl. de l’ancien Genève, 1
planche des monnaies + 10 planches montrant des sceaux

et une carte dépl. ‘partie du païs des Helvetiens’, reliures
en veau, dos à nerfs doré, pièces de titres et de tomaison
en cuir, tranches jaspées, mis à part de légers accrocs et

Première édition genevoise en 4 volumes, publiée parallèlement
à une édition en 2 volumes in-4°, accompagnée de notes de grand
intérêt par Jean-Antoine Gautier. Publiée pour la première fois
en 1680 à Lyon, ce classique connut des éditions en anglais et
en néerlandais et contient l’essence des travaux des historiens
genevois du XVIIe siècle. “Cette magistrale édition de 1730
qui rassemble les travaux de toute une génération apparaît, en
dernière analyse, comme un monument élevé à la gloire de
Genève. Comme telle, elle occupe et conserve une place unique
dans les annales de la République.” (J.-D. Candaux, in «Le livre
à Genève 1478-1978», p. 83, n° 116). Jacob Spon, médecin et
historien lyonnais protestant, se réfugia en Suisse romande dès
1679. Il mourut à Vevey six ans plus tard. Bibliographie raisonnée

Städelin wollte in Bordeaux als Schneider arbeiten, weigerte
sich jedoch, unter Berufung auf die den Schweizern gewährten
königlichen Privilegien, die von den Zünften geforderten
Abgaben zu leisten. Er verlor seinen Prozess sowohl vor dem
Parlament von Bordeaux wie auch die Berufung vor dem königlichen
Staatsrat. Die deutsche Uebertragung stammt von dem
Schwyzer Landschreiber Marius Föhn, die beiden Briefe vom
Landschreiber Weber zu Schwytz. Wahrscheinlich ist Städelin
mit dem Schneider Städelin identisch, der 1767 anlässlich des
Schwyzer Harten- und Linden-Handels zusammen mit dem
Anführer der ‘Harten’ verbannt wurde. Haller VI, 310; Barth

Erste und einzige rätoromanische Ausgabe, sehr selten. “Eigenartiger
zeigt sich Tilemann’s Talent in der zuerst in Cöthen
1680 erschienenen, dann noch fünfmal aufgelegten, auch in das
Raeto-Romanische übersetzten «Sechzehn Stuffen des Gnadenthrons
Jesus Christus». Als Vorbild hat offenbar das 4. Buch der
«Imitatio Christi» gedient. Es findet wie dort ein Zwiegespräch
zwischen Christus und der Seele statt und demgemäss tritt die
