We welcomed 17 new members to the association. We are pleased to say that many new members are from developing countries in Asia, the Middle East and South America. During the same period, 21 members left the association. The main reasons given for leaving were mergers and liquidations, as in previous years. The membership changes also resulted in minor structural alterations. Whilst the proportion of publishers and ancillary services to the press industry increased slightly, the trend noted with regard to distributors was quite the opposite. After the encouraging growth seen in the affiliate association category in the first year following the changes to the Statutes, a further increase failed to appear this year. We need to make even more of an effort in this area. Our positive experience of cooperation with the newly joined affiliate organisations shows that they can represent a very valuable complement to our regular members. De nombreux mouvements ont de nouveau marqué l’exercice écoulé. Nous avons eu la plaisir d’accueillir 17 nouveaux membres, parmi lesquels – chose réjouissante – beaucoup de pays en développement du Proche- Orient, d’Asie et d’Amérique latine. Durant la même période, nous avons enregistré 21 départs. Comme l’année précédente, les raisons principales de ces départs ont été les fusions et les faillites. Ces mouvements ont également engendré de petites modifications structurelles : alors que la proportion d’éditeurs et de services auxilliaires de l’industrie de la presse a légèrement augmenté, une tendance inverse a été constatée du côté des distributeurs. Après les débuts encourageants enregistrés au cours de la première année de la modification des statuts, la progression dans la catégorie des organisations affiliées s’est arrêtée. Nous devons, là aussi, redoubler d’efforts. L’exemple de la bonne collaboration avec les membres affiliés montre que ces organisations constituent un précieux complément à nos membres réguliers. Im letzten Geschäftsjahr gab es wieder viele Bewegungen in der Mitgliedschaft. 17 neue Mitglieder konnten aufgenommen werden, darunter erfreulich viele aus Entwicklungsländern in Asien, Nahen Osten und Südamerika. Im gleichen Zeitraum mussten wir 21 Austritte registrieren. Die Hauptgründe dafür waren, wie schon in den letzten Jahren, Fusionen und Liquidationen. Die Bewegungen führten auch zu kleineren strukturellen Verschiebungen: Während der Anteil der Verlage und der Lieferanten der Presseindustrie leicht zunahm, konnte bei den Vertriebsfirmen eine umgekehrte Tendenz festgestellt werden. Nach der ermutigenden Entwicklung des ersten Jahres nach der Statutenänderung blieb der weitere Zuwachs in der Kategorie der assoziierten Organisationen aus. Auch hier müssen unsere Bemühungen verstärkt werden. Das Beispiel der guten Zusammenarbeit mit den beigetretenen assoziierten Mitgliedern zeigt, dass diese Organisationen eine sehr wertvolle Ergänzung zu unseren regulären Mitgliedern sind. 18
