la page 31, ainsi que par code de couleur. 

Sauf indication contraire, tous les ateliers sont d’une durée de 45 minutes. 

Les heures présentées sur une même ligne (p. ex. 13:30 – 15:30) représentent 

une plage horaire. Autrement, l’heure inscrite correspond au début de l’atelier.

début sont énumérées à la verticale, en ordre chronologique. 

Lorsque vous aurez choisi les activités qui vous intéressent, notez-en le lieu

Une fois votre horaire établi, consultez la carte du campus, à la page 34, pour 

vous orienter et pour planifier vos déplacements. Les édifices y sont identifiés 

au moyen des codes de couleur des facultés et services correspondants ainsi 

4 que par un sigle. Pour connaître l’adresse du lieu de votre activité, consultez 4 

la légende qui se trouve au bas de la carte. Sur le campus, les facultés sont 

identifiés par des bannières selon le même code de couleur. 

N’oubliez pas de prévoir du temps dans votre horaire pour vous déplacer 

d’un édifice à l’autre et, surtout, pour prendre une bouchée. Vous pouvez obtenir 

à la tente d’accueil un coupon de réduction d’une valeur de 5 $ valable dans les 

différents points de services alimentaires. Vous trouverez à la page 32 la carte des 

points de services alimentaires. 

WHERE TO START? 

Browse through the pages to find the faculties and services you’re interested 

in. They’re listed on pages 11 to 31, in alphabetical order and by colour code. 

All workshops and activities are 45 minutes in length unless otherwise 

specified. If the schedule does not indicate a time range, the workshop is 

offered only at the time indicated. The 24-hour clock is used throughout 

this schedule. Therefore, 13:00 means 1 p.m., and so on. 

Jot down the time and location of the activities you’d like 

to attend in the blank schedule provided on the next page. 

Once you’ve created your schedule, find the building locations on the campus 

map on page 34 in order to plan your route. The buildings are identified with 

the colour of the corresponding faculty or service as well as their acronym. 

Refer to the legend on the campus map to find the location of your activities. 

Faculties are identified on campus with banners of the same colour. 

Be sure to leave enough time in your schedule to get around campus between 

workshops and to grab a bite to eat! Remember to pick up your $5 coupon at the 

welcome tent to use at one of our food services locations on campus. See page 32 

for a map of the different food service locations.

of the campus.

Students who work as community advisors in the residences give 

tours of the different types of residences and offer their take on 

what life is like in residence.

laboratoires ultramodernes du Complexe des biosciences pour les 

départements de Biologie, de Biochimie et des Sciences de la Terre, 

où vous aurez droit à des démonstrations. Vous visiterez ensuite les 

laboratoires de chimie et de physique. 

In groups of 25 (maximum), you’ll get to visit the Biosciences 

Complex and see demonstrations in the state-of-the-art 

laboratories of the departments of biology, biochemistry and Earth 

sciences. Tours are followed by visits of the chemistry and the 

physics department laboratories.

Le Laboratoire de recherche en pédagogie du piano renferme des 

installations de pointe qui répondent aux normes internationales de

The Piano Pedagogy Research Laboratory is a state-of-the-art facility 

that meets international high-tech standards. The lab’s equipment 

makes it possible to observe specific visual and auditory phenomena 

as they occur in order to measure the complex activity of learning to 

play the piano.

The term “Gee-Gee” has many meanings at uOttawa. It’s the first 

horse out of the starting gate as well as our beloved mascot, the 

name of our athletic teams and our colours—garnet and grey. But 

above all, it represents each uOttawa student and the spirit they 

bring to the University. During this information session, you’ll hear 

first-hand from a panel of students about why they chose uOttawa 

and what it’s like to be a Gee-Gee. 

À l’Université d’Ottawa, le terme « Gee-Gee » désigne bien des 

choses : le premier cheval à s’élancer du bloc de départ dans une 

course, notre bien-aimée mascotte, nos équipes sportives, nos 

couleurs (le grenat et le gris). Mais surtout, il fait référence aux 

étudiants de l’Université d’Ottawa et à l’esprit dont ils imprègnent 

notre université. Pendant cette séance d’information, des étudiants 

parleront des raisons pour lesquelles ils ont choisi l’Université

During this presentation, the Liaison Office team provides parents 

of our future students with an overview of the University and its 

services, important dates and deadlines as well as different options 

available to pay for university studies. This 40-minute presentation 

is followed by a 20-minute question and answer period. Students 

are welcome to attend too!

You think it’s easy to burn calories? Come to our lab and give it a 

try. You’ll experiment with different types of activities to determine 

how many kilocalories you use! 

Il est bien connu qu’une perte de poids, même modeste, 

s’accompagne d’une amélioration de la santé. Malgré cela, la grande 

majorité des gens qui arrivent à diminuer leur surcharge pondérale 

ont un défi immense à relever, celui de ne pas reprendre le poids 

perdu. Cette difficulté résulte fort probablement d’un ensemble de

Sport plays a powerful role in reinforcing, challenging and reinventing 

identities, both on an individual and a collective level. The sociology 

of sport focuses on the social and cultural structures, patterns, 

organizations and groups engaged in sport. In this workshop, we 

address how sport confirms or challenges our sense of what and who 

we are and how we make sense of “others.” What is hockey’s historical 

role in creating Canadian and masculine identities? How did soccer 

contribute to maintaining the cultural identities of immigrant groups 

now forming Canada’s multicultural fabric? How do sport media 

hyper-sexualize sportswomen?
