Manitoba Chefs Association, membership in the CanadianCulinary Federation’s Honour Society, and a 2005appointment as Member of the Order of Canada (makinghim one of only two chefs to receive this prestigioushonour, and the only one from Manitoba).Chef Murakami has also enjoyed a long and fruitfulrelationship with Red River College over the years,having served on the College’s Advisory Committee forthe last decade (the last three of which he acted as Chair),as a cooperative education employer for the College’sHospitality and Culinary Arts students, and as a memberof la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs — a capacity in which hetrained Red River College culinary students taking part inthe International Jeunes Chefs Rôtisseurs Competition.A number of Red River College’s Culinary Artsinstructors completed their apprenticeship training underChef Murakami, who also developed the DACUM(Developing a Curriculum) analysis for the College’sCulinary Arts program. Most recently, he has signed on asa Chef of Distinction supporting the Paterson GlobalFoods Institute — future home of the College’s Culinaryand Hospitality programs, and site of its first studentresidence.In Memoriam - Eva Jensen, Commandeur(1920-2011)It is with great sadness that theBailliage de Vancouverannounces the passing of EvaAase Jensen, Commandeur, onJune 14, 2011 at the age of 90,predeceased by her husband,Jorgen, in 1992. Eva was a memberof la Chaîne des Rôtisseurssince 1976.Emigrating from Denmark in1957 with Jorgen and their threedaughters, Eva was best known,of her many activities, for herSchool of Gourmet Cookery(1970-85), and for breeding andshowing long- and wire-haireddachshunds.
