Juni 2006.▼ The scenic performance,planned already for last year butpostponed, of Hindemith’s earlyone-act opera Sancta Susanna will celebrate its premiereon 22 September 2006 at the Teatro alla Scala inMilan. The musical direction will be in the hands ofMarko Letonja, principal conductor and music directorof the Basel Symphony Orchestra and Opera. GiancarloCobelli will be responsible for the production.Costumes and scenery are in the hands of AlessandroCiammarighi. Further performances will take place on23, 25, 26, 28 September and 2 October 2006.Riccardo Muti, former music director of the MilanScala, will also be taking on Hindemith’s one-acter,presenting the piece in a concertante performancewith the New York Philharmonic Orchestra at LincolnCentre’s Avery Fisher Hall. La premièresera donnée le 7 juin 2006 ; d’autres représentationsauront lieu les 8, 9 et 12 juin 2006.▼ Hindemith schreibt im Vorwort zum Klavierauszugseiner Komposition Hérodiade: „Hérodiade ist ein Versuch,Worte, poetische Idee, lyrischen Ausdruck undMusik in ein einheitliches Ganzes zusammenzuschmelzen,dabei aber auf das Ausdrucksmittel, daseiner solchen Mischform am natürlichsten sich darbietenwürde, den Gesang nämlich, völlig zu verzichten.“Das als Ballett 1944 entstandene und von Hindemithals Récitation orchestrale bezeichnete Stück vonStéphane Mallarmé wird im Rahmen des Luzern-Festivals2006 von der Camerata Zürich unter ChristophMueller und der Sprecherin Anne-Marie Blanc in derLuzerner Lukaskirche am 6.
