Int<strong>en</strong>ded use<br />
Your Black & Decker trimmer has be<strong>en</strong> designed for<br />
trimming and fi nishing lawn edges and to cut grass<br />
in confi ned spaces. This appliance is int<strong>en</strong>ded for<br />
consumer use only.<br />
Safety instructions<br />
Warning! Wh<strong>en</strong> using mains-powered appliances,<br />
basic safety precautions, including the following,<br />
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fi re,<br />
electric shock, personal injury and material damage.<br />

Using your appliance<br />
Always take care wh<strong>en</strong> using the appliance.<br />
♦ Always use safety glasses or goggles.<br />
♦ Never allow childr<strong>en</strong> or people unfamiliar with<br />
the instructions to use the appliance.<br />
♦ Do not allow childr<strong>en</strong> or animals to come near<br />
the work area or to touch the appliance or power<br />

♦ This appliance is not int<strong>en</strong>ded for use by persons<br />
(including childr<strong>en</strong>) with reduced physical, s<strong>en</strong>sory<br />
or m<strong>en</strong>tal capabilities, or lack of experi<strong>en</strong>ce<br />
and knowledge, unless they have be<strong>en</strong> giv<strong>en</strong><br />
supervision or instruction concerning use of<br />
the appliance by a person responsible for their<br />

Residual risks.<br />

working with wood, especially oak, beech<br />
and MDF.)<br />
After use<br />
♦ Wh<strong>en</strong> not in use, the appliance should be stored<br />
in a dry, well v<strong>en</strong>tilated place out of reach of<br />
childr<strong>en</strong>.<br />
♦ Childr<strong>en</strong> should not have access to stored appliances.<br />
♦ Wh<strong>en</strong> the appliance is stored or transported in<br />
a vehicle it should be placed in the boot or restrained<br />
to prev<strong>en</strong>t movem<strong>en</strong>t following sudd<strong>en</strong><br />
changes in speed or direction.<br />
Inspection and repairs<br />
♦ Before use, check the appliance for damaged<br />
or defective parts. Check for breakage of parts<br />
and any other conditions that may affect its<br />
operation.<br />
♦ Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged<br />
or defective.<br />
♦ Have any damaged or defective parts repaired<br />
or replaced by an authorised repair ag<strong>en</strong>t.<br />
♦ Never attempt to remove or replace any parts<br />
other than those specifi ed in this manual.<br />
