Fabriqués à Fès (Maroc) selon les mêmes procédés depuis le
XIIème siècle, les Zelliges sont des carreaux de terre cuite émaillée,
traditionnellement destinés à être retaillés en fines mosaïques.
L’argile de Fès donne le charme à ce carreau aux couleurs très
nuancées y compris d’une pièce à l’autre et sur une même plaque.
C’est à la cuisson que les caractéristiques esthétiques apparaissent,
donnant tout son charme et son attrait décoratif au produit fini. Ainsi,
craquelures, cloques, éclats participent au relief et à la profondeur de
la couleur, ce ne sont en aucun cas des défauts. Il s’agit bien là du
résultat de “L’Art du Feu” et de sa magie.
ZELLIGE 10 x 10 cm:
Produit traditionnel par excellence, le zellige 10X10 cm est taillé et
biseauté à la main en sous face, pièce par pièce.
Le biseau permet une pose à joint fin de 1 mm sans que la colle ne
remonte à la surface, ménageant ainsi suffisamment de volume pour
le joint.
Manufactured in Fez (Morocco) with the same process since the 12th
century, Zellige tiles are glazed terra cotta tiles, traditionally re-cut into fine
mosaics.
The clay from Fes gives this highly shaded tile its incomparable charm from
one piece to another, as well as within one sheet.
The aesthetic features appear during firing, giving the finished product its
distinctive and elegant decorative properties. The cracks, bumps, splinters
and other imperfections contribute to giving depth to the colour, they are
in no way a defect.
This product is indeed the result of the “Art of Fire” and its magical features.
ZELLIGE 10 x 10 cm:
Excellent traditional product, each 10 x 10 cm zellige tile is cut and beveled
by hand on the underside. The bevel allows for a thin joint of 1 mm while
it prevents the excess grout from squeezing-out from between the tiles,
leaving enough space for the thin-set to set in.
