ACTIVITIES
InsIde the IssF
T
he The 2011 ISSF Championship
season has now ended. We recently
attended our last two Championships
in a series which began last March with
a Shotgun World Cup in Concepción, Chile and
has now concluded with the World Cup Final
for Rifle and Pistol in Wroclaw, Poland and the
World Cup Final for Shotgun in Al Ain, United
Arab Emirates. World Cup Finals are our annual
“champion of champions” competitions.
Both were tremendous successes and we
thank the organizers for their excellent preparations
and execution of these very prestigious
competitions. They were truly highlights that
finished a great year of ISSF Championships.
2011 ISSF WorkShop
The ISSF is now looking forward to our 9th ISSF
Workshop for Organizers, which will be held in
Munich on November 18-19. All 2012 and 2013
ISSF World Cup organizers as well as the organizers
of the 2013 ISSF World Championships
and the 2012 Olympic Games are invited. During
the two-day Workshop, we will review 2011
World Cups and discuss the best options to
prepare and hold ISSF Championships during
the next two shooting seasons. These Workshops
have become an important part of the
ISSF’s program year and they have helped our
Federation to take many steps forward in making
our Championships better competitions.
The annual meetings of the ISSF Section Committees
as well as meetings of our Technical,
Medical, Statutes, Athletes and Coaches Advisory
Committees will take place immediately
after the Workshop. We are looking forward to
a fruitful and productive series of meetings.
2012 ISSF General aSSembly
Next year the ISSF will be organizing an ordinary
ISSF General Assembly, which will be held
on 17 April on the occasion of the ISSF World
Cup and Olympic Test Event in London, Great
Britain. As usual, meetings of the ISSF Executive
Committee and Administrative Council will
take place on April 14-15, just before the General
Assembly. ISSF Headquarters will soon
send out further details concerning hotel accommodations
and transportation for the General
Assembly. We wish to remind our member
federations that any proposals for the General
Assembly agenda must be received by the ISSF
Secretary General three months in advance,
that is, not later than January 17, 2012. There
are some important decisions to be made in this
General Assembly, including the election of the
member federations to host the 2015 World
Shotgun Championship and the 51st World
Shooting Championship for all shooting events
in 2018. Therefore we kindly ask any member
federation which wishes to submit a proposal
to organize either of these ISSF World Championships
to send a letter of intent as soon as
possible. Proposals to host a World Championship
must, of course, also include all of the
back-up documents required by Article 3.2.6 of
the ISSF General Regulations and Annex “W”
of the General Regulations (Article 3.12.2.4, Application
Procedures for World Championships).
Please note that proposals to organize a World
Championship must be submitted to the Secretary
General with all corresponding documents
at least one month beore the General Assembly
(17th March 2012 at the latest).
During the April 2012 meetings in London,
the ISSF Administrative Council will elect members
of the ISSF Section Committees for new
two-year terms. We would like to take this opportunity
to remind all member federations that
the ISSF Secretary General must receive their
nominations for the election or re-election of any
committee member no later than two months
before the election, that is, on 17 February 2012.
We ask all member federations to respect these
deadlines as we prepare for this General Assembly
as well as the ISSF World Cup and Olympic
Test Event at the Olympic Shooting Venue
at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich. We
hope to welcome delegates of all member federations
to these important events.
2012 QuoTa placeS
Following the General Assembly and Olympic
Test Event, the highlight of the year 2012 will
certainly be the Olympic Games in London.
Most of the quota places for participation in the
Olympic Shooting events have already been distributed,
but some Continental Confederations
are still looking forward to Continental Championships,
where some additional 2012 quotas
will be distributed. At the end of February 2012,
all member federations will receive a detailed
informative letter containing the quota places
as well as the names and scores of all athletes
who have obtained an MQS. However, since
the ISSF is already receiving numerous requests
concerning the distribution of Universality or
Wild Cards, we would like to inform the Member
Federations that according to the “Special
Regulations for the Participation in the Shooting
Sport Events of the Olympic Games,” these quotas
will by distributed by the IOC as “Tripartite
Commission Invitation Places.” Twenty-four of
these Tripartite places will be made available to
eligible NOCs. The International Olympic Committee
will contact all NOCs that are eligible to
apply for Tripartite Commission Invitation Places.
The deadline for those NOCs to submit their
applications is Januray 16, 2012. All member
federations interested in receiving Universality
or Wild Cards are urged to contact their NOCs to
confirm that their applications will reach the IOC
before this deadline. According to the “Special
Regulations for the Participation in the Shooting
Sport Events of the Olympic Games” the ISSF
has no Universality or Wild Cards available for
distribution. However, it may be possible that
the ISSF will receive a few quota places back for
re-distribution. To facilitate this possible quota
re-distribution, ISSF Headquarters will send a
circular letter to all Member Federations and
NOCs in February 2012 after the last quotas
have been distributed. This letter will provide
exact details on how to apply for any available
Universality or Wild Card quotas. If there are
any questions concerning how to apply for a
Tripartite Commission Invitation Place or a Wild
Card, please contact your NOC or contact the
ISSF Headquarters. We will do our best to provide
you with assistance and further details.

In the past month, ISSF Headquarters have
faced several problems concerning incorrect
addresses and contact information for officers
in several Member Federations. Therefore we
once again remind Member Federations that
whenever they have a change of officers, such
as the President or Secretary General, that they
must please send the new names of the officers
as well as any changes in their e-mail, phone,
fax or mailing address to the ISSF Headquarters
as soon as possible so that the ISSF address
list can be kept updated. This is of great
importance because in the next few months we
will send several circular letters with important
information about the forthcoming ISSF General
Assembly as well as the Olympic Games
in London. If you are not sure what details are
registered for your federation, please check the
ISSF website (http://www.issf-sports.org/theissf/organisation/member_federations.ashx)
and inform us of any necessary changes.
