I fully agree with Mr Slocock’s and Collowald’s views. I have just returned from abroad and have briefly<br />
read the minutes circulated. I would also like to propose some slight modifications, but I think that<br />
you should give a deadline for comments by delegates <strong>be</strong>fore the final REVISED version is<br />
sent out. Parents are very keen to read what their reps said at this rather delicate meeting and it<br />
would <strong>be</strong> fair that the transcription is correct.<br />
I would also like to ask (as I did during the meeting of the CE) whether if it is possible to annex to the<br />
final minutes the various documents prepared by the different language sections. If such document will<br />
not <strong>be</strong> annexed I will revise the minutes accordingly.<br />

Dear Mrs Nordstroem, I would <strong>be</strong> grateful if the school could please consider compiling some<br />
revised draft minutes in the light of the comments received (I also sent some this morning<br />
which I did not 'copy all' but can do so if preferred). Of course the minutes can only <strong>be</strong><br />
formally confirmed at the next education council, but in the meantime there is a great need to<br />
pass on as much information as possible. However parent reps would like (in order to satisfy<br />
the parents they represent) to <strong>be</strong> sure their points are accurately covered. Parent reps are<br />
doing a rather difficult job at the moment trying to fill the 'information gap' left by the school.<br />
We all understand that there are reasons for this gap, and no critcism is intended, but it really<br />
would <strong>be</strong> useful to have now a version of the minutes which we felt able to circulate (as was<br />
done for the 'groupe de pilotage' on 9 March).<br />

Thank you for the meeting minutes, to which I would ask you to make some minor aditions,<br />
<strong>be</strong>cause my interventions (Primary DE) have not <strong>be</strong>en mentionned in a complete way. Could<br />
you please amend in the following way (see red <strong>be</strong>low) or ensure that my amandment is taken<br />
to the record. I'm sure my German colleague from Maternelle agrees that it is important to<br />
state that I am representing the DE Primary section, not the Maternelle....<br />

DE (Primaire) : il est important qu’une analyse transparente soit faite et que l'école<br />
assure les conditions adéquates pour les classes qui déménagerons à Berkendael.
Mat/1 : inquiétude au niveau de transport – éviter la navette ou trouver autres moyens<br />
d'assurer la sécurité pour les enfants. Berkendael semble être mieux adapté pour les<br />
enfants plus petit car le campus est plus petit, moins d'élèves, pas <strong>be</strong>soin d'adapter un<br />
batiment à leurs <strong>be</strong>soins, loin des travaux.<br />
4/5 : il y a une inquiétude par rapport à l’équipement pédagogique sur place. Les<br />
élèves vont perdre du temps dans le transport et n’auront plus l’école secondaire à<br />
proximité. Les parents des Primary DE penchent pour un déménagement des MAT-P1<br />
pour des raisons académiques (équipement Berkendael, e.g. bibliothèque, IT,<br />
sport), logistiques (plus d'activités périscolaires, plus de professeurs impliqués) et<br />
financières (e.g. nécessité de travaux à Uccle/ Erasmus pour MAT/1).<br />
DE (Primaire): personne ne veut bouger. Le bâtiment Fabiola doit être rénové. C’est à<br />
l’école de fournir un plan basé sur des critères transparents est objectifs.<br />

Suite à ma participation au Comité du CE du 22 mars je serais reconnaissante si vous pourriez<br />
ajouter les suivantes modifications au compte rendu:<br />
Positions des sections :<br />
« ES : Demande plus de transparence. Pour les maternelles, la sécurité et le transport sont des<br />
points essentiels. Pour les 4/5, les parents voudraient être surs que le<br />
programme soit respecté. Les parents veulent un plan clair. Concernant les niveaux à transférer la<br />
section espagnole a fourni deux documents (un de la Première, l’autre de la maternelle)<br />
définissant nettement la position et inquiétudes de la section et demande à la Direction de l’école<br />
qu’elles soient tenues en compte avant toute prise de décision. En qualité de représentante de la<br />
Première espagnole il faut préciser que la Première voudrait rester uni principalement car
maternelle et Première sont deux cycles clairement différentiés et sa division ne rapporterait<br />
aucun bénéfice (toutes les justifications se trouvant dans le document de la PR ES distribué) »<br />
A la fin du compte rendu :<br />
…..En ce qui concerne le transport, M. Leurquin retient que le système de navette ne<br />
convient pas. Le budget sera certainement dès lors augmenté.<br />
« La représentante de PR ES demande à la Directrice la préparation de un document avec les<br />
scenarios possibles du transfert en répondant aux préoccupations exprimés par les sections dans<br />
les différentes documents soumis. Elle demande, si possible, que ces documents soient annexés<br />
aux actes de réunion. Elle demande finalement un document explicite sur la question du transport<br />
soit préparé définissant les contraints et choix possibles »<br />

I have a few comments for the compte rendu concerning the Danish section.<br />

DK : il n’y a pas de conclusion claire vue que les parents ne sont pas d’accord entre<br />
eux. Il est important que la décision qui est prise soit bien motivée. Les parents<br />
voudraient une information claire.<br />
- Si 4/5 : parent are concerned that it will create discontinuity for children already integrated into Uccle<br />
and that the move will interrupt the preparations of P4+P5 for the transition to secondary school.<br />
- how will moving to Berkendael influence the higher level of LII English that has now <strong>be</strong>en established<br />

Thank you Lieke. I think that it goes without saying that this is a very important document which<br />
should <strong>be</strong> drafted and checked with extreme care. In that context please let me identify 5 sentences<br />
which gave me pause:<br />

le site.<br />
This could <strong>be</strong> read as implying that the intention is 'de ne plus accepter des inscriptions' to Brussels I<br />
which is not of course the case: enrolments remain possible subject to the rules of the ACI.<br />
Mme Guldbaek donne un exemple : il y a 11 groupes de LII en 4° et 5 titulaires qui<br />
ne donnent pas cours, donc ils manqueront encore des salles de classe.<br />
This is not fully logical. If there were 6 P4 teachers giving L2 lessons and 5 who do not, there would<br />
<strong>be</strong> enough space for 11 L2 classes. I think more information (combien de titulaires qui donnent<br />
cours?) is needed to make this argument covincing.<br />
Mme Ruiz-Esturla répond que l’école de Berkendael fonctionne déjà pour les élèves<br />
de maternelle et primaire ainsi que S1 et S2.<br />
Note that this could give rise to the question whether S1/S2 could move. Up to now it has <strong>be</strong>en<br />
assumed that it would <strong>be</strong> possible, partly <strong>be</strong>cause of timetabling issues but also equipment (science<br />
labs etc).<br />
EN : Quelles sont les options ? Avons-nous étudié toutes les options ? Aussi les ½ ?<br />
Combien d’élèves prennent les bus, qui sont concernés. C’est la décision de l’école.<br />
