The Western Transdanubian Nursery Association was established in 1990with the participation of 45 nurseries, in order to coordinate the productionand make a professional corporation for business federation. First, ourmembers were only from the western part of Hungary, but for now we possessmore nurseries from whole Hungary; producing not only trees and shrubs butspecialized on perennials as well. Today the Western Transdanubian NurseryAssociation is the largest in Hungary: it counts 200 members from the total450 nurseries, among them the largest companies of the country. Our membersare producing on approx. 1.500 hectares, which is more than 70% of thetotal production area of Hungary. Together with the rich assortment and goodquality is to mention the very good cold-tolerance of our plants. Thanks to thecontinental climate of Hungary and to the temperatures between -25 and +40degrees the plants produced in our nurseries can cope excellently with theweather conditions in the countries of Eastern Europe.The main aims of the association are the professional supporting and trainingof our members. In order to improve their skills and possibilities there are manyprogrammes organized and continuously new contacts built to foreign specialists.Four time a year the professional paper of the association, the “FaiskolaiÉrtesítő” is published, which gets to all nurserymen in the country. There arepresentations hold how to solve different problems and many books are publishedfor hobby and professional gardeners. The association is a member inthe Hungarian Council of Ornamental Plant Producers.Its largest professional program is the yearly Nursery Exhibition, which is heldin Szombathely, on every second weekend in August. Among the Hungarianexhibitors there are from year to year more and more foreign exhibitors as well.There were 79 Hungarian and 7 foreign (Czech Republic, Denmark, Germanyand The Netherlands) nurseries participating on the XIX. Nursery Exhibition2012, on 1.068 squaremeters. Similar to the former years there were representednursery plants, perennials, liners, chemicals, substrates, machines and allkind of tools for nursery production.
