Ebrico Odierno, New York representive and cast<strong>in</strong>g director for the <strong>Philadelphia</strong> La Scala <strong>Opera</strong> Company died<br />

backstage at the Academy of Music as the curta<strong>in</strong> was ris<strong>in</strong>g on the first act of Il trovatore... Present when he<br />

died was this stepson, Banjam<strong>in</strong> Altieri, stage manager... who a short time earlier had escorted Mr. Odierno’s<br />

wife, Emilia Vergeri... to the hotel. Mr. Odierno had been identified with the opera for 35 years, and was<br />

associated with the <strong>Philadelphia</strong> La Scala <strong>Opera</strong> Co. s<strong>in</strong>ce its organization five years ago, as well as with its<br />

predsecessor, the second Civic <strong>Opera</strong> Co. His home was <strong>in</strong> New York.<br />
