A.G.D. ASSOCIAZIONE PER<br />
L’AIUTO AI GIOVANI DIABETICI<br />
Nata nel 1978, grazie all’iniziativa di alcuni<br />
genitori di ragazzi affetti da Diabete Mellito1,<br />
l’Associazione per l’Aiuto ai Giovani Diabetici<br />
(A.G.D.) ONLUS si occupa di diffondere maggiore<br />
consapevolezza relativamente alla patologia<br />
diabetica in età pediatrica/adolescenziale e<br />
di proporre strategie di educazione rivolte ai<br />
pazienti e alle famiglie, al fine di consentire una<br />
gestione autonoma del disagio mantenendo una<br />
normale qualità di vita. Organizzando attività di<br />
carattere non solo informativo, ma anche ludicoricreativo<br />
(ad es. campi scuola invernali ed estivi),<br />
l’Associazione consente ai ragazzi di misurarsi con<br />
i problemi quotidiani connessi alla loro patologia,<br />
di rispondervi in modo autonomo e di condividere<br />
con altri la propria esperienza. Quest’ultima<br />
dimensione socializzante dell’attività proposta<br />
consente ai ragazzi di uscire dall’isolamento<br />
psicologico, che spesso li ac<strong>com</strong>pagna nel<br />
confronto con i coetanei non affetti da diabete<br />
(ad esempio a scuola). Nel 1978, anno della<br />
sua fondazione, l’A.G.D. conta cinque iscritti.<br />
Negli anni successivi questo numero aumenta<br />
notevolmente, anche in seguito alla crescente<br />
diffusione della malattia. Impegnata in attività<br />
finalizzate alla sensibilizzazione verso la malattia<br />
(seminari, convegni, banchetti informativi) ed<br />
alla suddetta socializzazione (gite, camminate),<br />
l’A.G.D. diventa progressivamente un punto<br />
di riferimento importante per tutte le famiglie di<br />
Como e provincia toccate dal problema. Nel 1983<br />
l’Associazione organizza il suo primo campo<br />

scuola invernale: ac<strong>com</strong>pagnati da personale<br />
medico ed infermieristico, i ragazzi trascorrono<br />
una settimana in montagna alternando momenti<br />
di sport a momenti formativi e di verifica<br />
relativi alla gestione della malattia. Il personale<br />
coinvolto nell’esperienza stabilisce con i ragazzi<br />
un costante dialogo volto a rendere ciascuno<br />
di loro consapevole delle proprie esigenze e<br />
capace di trovare la risposta alle problematiche<br />
che si possono presentare in situazioni diverse (<br />
esempio ipoglicemia, iperglicemie, ecc.). Questa<br />
prima esperienza, estremamente positiva,<br />
coinvolge attivamente tutti i giovani partecipanti,<br />
le loro famiglie, i <strong>com</strong>ponenti il Consiglio<br />
dell’Associazione e il personale sanitario.<br />
L’iniziativa gode di un meritato successo e viene<br />
ripetuta con regolarità negli anni successivi.<br />
Dal 2005, all’esperienza del campo invernale<br />
si affianca quella del campo estivo.Oltre a<br />
questo rapporto diretto con gli associati,<br />
l’A.G.D. promuove attività di ricerca medica in<br />
collaborazione con la Federazione Nazionale<br />
del Diabete Giovanile, organizzando convegni e<br />
giornate di studio. Nel 2008, l’Associazione è stata<br />
promotrice del “Primo Convegno Nazionale Città<br />
di Como per la Ricerca sul Diabete Mellito di Tipo<br />
1”. Dal 1978 ad oggi tante cose sono state fatte.<br />
Tanto si potrà fare anche in futuro grazie all’aiuto<br />
degli Associati, dei <strong>com</strong>ponenti il Consiglio<br />
Direttivo, dei medici diabetologi, degli infermieri,<br />
costantemente impegnati nell’organizzazione e<br />
nella realizzazione delle attività.<br />
Con il patrocinio dei <strong>com</strong>uni di Cernobbio, Como e San Fermo nelle giornate del 12 - 13 e 14<br />
novembre verranno illuminati di blu i monumenti e alcune fontane delle città.<br />

Itinerario che si snoda dal Monumento ai Caduti, con salita sino alla terrazza posta a 33 m di<br />
altezza, attraverso il “Quartiere Razionalista”, <strong>com</strong>preso tra Viale Puecher e Viale Sinigaglia, che<br />
testimonia con i suoi edifici dedicati alle residenze, allo sport e allo svago, l’importante rinnovamento<br />
architettonico operato dal Razionalismo, sino a giungere alla Casa del Fascio, capolavoro razionalista<br />
italiano, realizzata da Terragni fra il 1932 e il 1936.<br />

the visit of the terrace 33 meters high and continues to the “Rational District”, between Viale Puecher<br />

KARIBUNI ONLUS<br />

Karibuni nasce da un viaggio di un gruppo di amici in<br />
Kenya nel 2002 e la conoscenza delle realta’ locali ci<br />
ha portato a fare i primi interventi di aiuto e sostegno.<br />
Alla fine del 2004 decidiamo di costituire Karibuni<br />
onlus ( in swahili Karibuni vuol dire benvenuto).<br />
Obiettivo dei fondatori dedicarsi alla realizzazione<br />
di progetti scolastici ed educativi. Riteniamo che la<br />
crescita di un popolo, il suo sviluppo ed il suo futuro<br />
benessere nasca proprio da un forte radicamento<br />
scolastico e da adeguate garanzie sanitarie. Nei<br />
primi tre anni di attivita’ Karibuni ha relizzato scuole<br />
ed asili a Watamu, Gede, Jimba, Marafa, Gis, Mida<br />
sviluppando il proprio intervento negli anni successivi<br />
con nuove costruzioni a Malanga e Langobaya.<br />
Attualmente Karibuni si avvale della collaborazione<br />
di tre medici locali, organici all’associazione , che<br />
collaborano direttamente con gli oltre 30 medici<br />
del Medical Team recentemente costituito e che a<br />
turno si recano in Kenya per visitare nei nostri centri<br />
di riferimento. Infine la nuova frontiera del nostro<br />
intervento: il lavoro, senza il quale i nostri ragazzi non<br />
potranno avere nessuna garanzia per il futuro. Prima<br />
con Amref abbiamo realizzato 10 pozzi d’acqua<br />
nel Kajado, consentendo a centinaia di persone<br />
di avere accesso piu’ facile all’allevamento ed<br />
all’agricoltura, poi con due interventi diretti a Mida ed<br />
a Langobaya dove abbiamo costituito le prime due<br />
farm, direttamente seguite da noi per un totale di oltre<br />
100000 m2 coltivati. E’ nostra intenzione realizzare<br />
una farm adiacente ad ogni progetto scolastico<br />
onde consentire nel giro di un paio di anni di creare<br />
le condizioni di autosostegno per ogni scuola. Con<br />
la collaborzione della Diocesi di Malindi abbiamo<br />
inoltre avviato attraverso la formula del microcredito<br />
oltre 60 piccole attivita’ che danno gia’ un sostegno<br />
fondamentale ad altrettante famiglie. Karibuni oggi<br />

puo’ contare su oltre 300 soci sparsi su tutto il<br />
territorio nazionale, oltre 400 bambini studiano grazie<br />
al sostegno a distanza, il 97% delle donazioni che<br />
riceviamo viene destinato direttamente ai progetti,<br />
meno del 3% serve per la gestione dell’associazione<br />
ed è un risultato che raggiungiamo grazie all’aiuto di<br />
tanti volontari. PIU’ SAREMO PIU’ FAREMO...è uno<br />
dei nostri motti....se condividi i nostri progetti, i nostri<br />
sogni, il nostro modo di lavorare, scrivici e se andrai<br />

ELVINO MOTTI L’ANIMA DELLA MATERIA<br />
Da aprile a dicembre <strong>2011</strong> il Beach Resort Golf<br />
& SPA Parco San Marco di Cima di Porlezza,<br />
sul Lago di Lugano, ospita un’esposizione<br />
di sculture inedite, “L’anima della materia”,<br />
dell’artista Elvino Motti. Scultore <strong>com</strong>asco,<br />
Motti ha saputo imporre il proprio nome a livello<br />
nazionale ed internazionale, dedicandosi sia<br />
all’insegnamento, sia alla creazione di opere<br />
che lo portano ben presto ad aggiudicarsi premi<br />
autorevoli e ad esporre in sedi di prestigiose<br />
<strong>com</strong>e la Biennale di Venezia. Elvino Motti non<br />
crea solamente arte con stile e con estro, ma<br />
dimostra un non <strong>com</strong>une capacità di estrapolare<br />
e risvegliare l’anima della materia, riuscendo<br />
a dare espressione alle sue opere. La sua<br />
raffinatezza artistica sta nel conferire dinamicità<br />
ad un elemento statico; le forme geometriche<br />
sembrano perdere parte della perfetta loro<br />
astrattezza ed animarsi. Esse si aggregano e<br />
s<strong>com</strong>pongono in vario modo, dando a chi guarda<br />
l´impressione di un loro perenne movimento.<br />
Nasce così l’illusione del divenire. Nessun<br />
altro artista contemporaneo può richiamare<br />
costantemente acquirenti e collezioniste d’arte,<br />
senza eccezione, <strong>com</strong>e l’Italiano Elvino Motti.<br />
La sua scrittura artistica è inconfondibile. Sia a<br />
Milano che alle Hawaii, Elvino Motti, con le sue<br />
sculture, ottiene costantemente l’adesione d’un<br />

THE SOUL OF THE MATTER<br />
From April to December <strong>2011</strong> in the Beach<br />
Resort Golf & SPA Parco San Marco of Cima di<br />
Porlezza, of Lugano Lake, there is an exhibition<br />
of sculpture, which have never exhibited, “The<br />
soul of the matter”, by the artist Elvino Motti.<br />
Sculptor from Como, Motti imposed his name<br />
at national and international level, dedicating<br />
himself to teaching, to the creation of works<br />
that allow him to receive authoritative prizes<br />
and to exhibit in prestigious places, such as<br />
the Biennal exhibition in Venice. Elvino Motti<br />

Fiera di S.Martino<br />
Da quasi quattrocento anni l’11<br />
novembre, nei pressi della chiesa<br />
di San Martino, si tiene la fiera a<br />
lui dedicata. Una folla numerosa<br />
proveniente da tutta la regione percorre<br />
la lunga fila di bancarelle dove<br />
si possono acquistare pesciolini<br />
secchi, caldarroste, dolciumi vari,<br />
ma anche giocattoli e vestiti.<br />
Giunti in prossimità del sagrato,<br />
dopo che i bambini si sono gustati<br />
giostre e autoscontri, diviene obbligo<br />
entrare in chiesa per rendere<br />
omaggio al Santo dei poveri<br />
offrendogli un cero. Originariamente<br />
la fiera era prettamente agricola ed<br />
offriva ai contadini della regione la<br />
possibilità di esporre e <strong>com</strong>merciare<br />
bestiame. Ancora oggi il giorno<br />
del sabato è dedicato a questa<br />

L’ALTOPIANO MALGRATE: BORGO VALSASSINESE: DA<br />
un CARTOLINA balcone sulle Grigne<br />
Lasciato alle spalle Lecco, attraversato il<br />
colle di Balisio, il turista entra in Valsassina, la<br />
ridente valle prealpina circondata da cime che,<br />
sentinelle attente, le fanno da guardia. L’Altopiano<br />
Valsassinese, un suggestivo balcone sul gruppo<br />
delle Grigne, è stato sin dall’inizio del Novecento<br />
una delle mete turistiche dei “Milanesi”. Non a<br />
caso, passeggiando tra le vie che si diramano<br />
dai nuclei storici dei paesi, si possono ammirare<br />
numerose ville e abitazioni dell’epoca, molte delle<br />
quali di un certo rilievo architettonico e artistico<br />
<strong>com</strong>e Palazzo Manzoni o Villa Carnevali. Uno<br />
scenario naturalistico mozzafiato accoglie i quattro<br />
<strong>com</strong>uni, Moggio, Cassina, Barzio e Cremeno con<br />
Maggio, antichi borghi rurali che nel tempo si<br />
sono trasformati per poter accogliere i sempre più<br />
numerosi turisti in cerca di sport, natura e relax a<br />
pochi passi dalla città, mantenendo però l’identità<br />

di paesi di montagna con le proprie tradizioni, la<br />
propria cultura e i propri valori. Durante tutto l’arco<br />
dell’anno, si susseguono caratteristiche feste,<br />
alcune delle quali legate alle tradizioni religiose,<br />
<strong>com</strong>e il S.Natale con l’allestimento di tipici presepi<br />
e le popolari rievocazioni o le celebrazioni per i<br />
Santi Patroni con le antiche processioni. Vi sono<br />
poi feste legate all’avvicendarsi delle stagioni,<br />
<strong>com</strong>e i tradizionali falò per scacciare l’inverno o le<br />
castagnate. A queste si sono aggiunte nel tempo<br />
altre manifestazioni sportive e culturali <strong>com</strong>e la Fiera<br />
di Santa Rosalia a Cremeno o enogastronomiche,<br />
<strong>com</strong>e la Moggio Profumi&Sapori d’<strong>Autunno</strong>, la<br />
II domenica di Ottobre e la Festa di Mezzacca,<br />
nate per far conoscere le delizie della cucina di<br />
montagna. Assolutamente da visitare nel <strong>com</strong>une<br />
di Cassina, la frazione di Mezzacca, piccolo borgo<br />
formato da poche abitazioni contadine che ha
mantenuto intatto il suo antico carattere rurale e la<br />
Culmine di San Pietro, passo prealpino che separa<br />
la Valsassina dalla Val Taleggio, meta ambita<br />
da ciclisti e bikers che giungono da ogni parte<br />
d’Europa. Qui è possibile ammirare la piccola<br />
chiesetta dei Santi Pietro e Paolo documentata<br />
fin dal 1557. Vi è inoltre Concenedo, piccolo<br />
borgo raggiungibile a piedi da Barzio, attraverso<br />
una mulattiera, oppure in auto, da Moggio. La<br />
piccola frazione è caratterizzata da un nucleo<br />
dove vecchi casolari e cascine lasciati intatti nel<br />
loro aspetto si raccolgono attorno alla piccola<br />
chiesetta. Splendide località situate sopra gli<br />
abitati, i Piani di Artavaggio e i Piani di Bobbio,<br />
rappresentano una sorta di balcone panoramico<br />
sui monti del lecchese. Raggiungibili attraverso i<br />
numerosi sentieri immersi nel bosco o per mezzo<br />
delle due funivie, offrono ai turisti la possibilità di<br />

splendide escursioni tra prati fioriti nella stagione<br />
estiva o paesaggi innevati nella stagione invernale.<br />
I Piani di Bobbio in particolare sono una rinomata<br />
stazione sciistica con numerose piste di discesa di<br />
ogni grado di difficoltà, oltre a vari anelli per lo sci<br />
di fondo. Il gruppo dei Campelli, che separa le due<br />
stazioni, regala agli esperti scalatori la possibilità<br />
di esercitarsi sulle sue vie ferrate. Durante<br />
tutto l’anno, il “Centro Sportivo dei Noccoli” tra<br />
Cremeno e Barzio, il “Parco Giochi Brodolini”<br />
a Cassina e il “Centro Sportivo G. Locatelli” di<br />
Moggio offrono la possibilità di praticare moltissimi<br />
sport <strong>com</strong>e tennis, bocce, calcio, calcetto, beach<br />
volley, pattinaggio... Nei mesi di luglio e agosto a<br />
Cremeno e a Moggio, l’animazione guidata da un<br />
nutrito staff di professionisti, garantisce ad adulti e<br />
bambini la possibilità di trascorrere le giornate tra<br />
sport, giochi, musica e balli.

It is not by chance that while you walk in the streets of<br />
historical part of the village you can admire numerous<br />
historical villas and residences, many of them have an<br />
architectural and artistic importance, such as Palazzo<br />
Manzoni or Villa Carnevali. A breathtaking natural<br />
landscape connects four villages, Moggio, Cassina,<br />
Barzio and Cremeno con Maggio, ancient rural<br />
suburbs that were transformed during the course<br />
of time to wel<strong>com</strong>e more and more tourists looking<br />
for sports opportunities, nature and relax not too far<br />
from the city, but keeping their identities of mountain<br />

winter or the chestnut festivals. Moreover there are<br />
sports and cultural events, the Fair of Santa Rosalia<br />
in Cremeno or food and wine festivals, the Moggio<br />
Profumi&Sapori d’<strong>Autunno</strong>, the 2nd Sunday of<br />
October and the Festival of Mezzacca, born to make<br />
people know of the delights of the mountain food.<br />
Not to miss: Mezzacca, in the village of Cassina,<br />
small suburb made of few farmer residences which<br />
kept its ancient rural aspect and the Culmine di<br />
San Pietro, pre-alpine pass that separates the<br />
Valsassina from the Val Taleggio, destination aspired<br />
by the bicyclists and bikers who <strong>com</strong>e from all<br />
over Europe. Moreover there is Concenedo, small<br />
suburb reachable on foot from Barzio, through a
mule track, or by car, from Moggio. Beautiful places<br />
located above the inhabited areas, the Piani di<br />

are a famous skiing station with numerous ski slopes<br />

cross-country skis. The group of the Campelli, which<br />
separates the two stations, offers the opportunity to<br />
the experienced climbers to practice on the routes<br />
with fixed ropes. During the whole year, the “Centro<br />

diversi s’incontrano. Ognuna è stata vissuta<br />
subendo e affrontando le ingiustizie della società.<br />
Ognuna di loro ha scelto la propria strada per<br />
sfidarle e <strong>com</strong>batterle. Qualcuno però ha sbagliato.<br />
E la domanda è sempre la stessa, Perché? Un<br />
incalzante racconto che vi ac<strong>com</strong>pagnerà in una<br />
corsa contro il tempo, sfiorando odio, amore,<br />
<strong>com</strong>passione e rabbia. Una storia avvincente alla<br />
ricerca di una risposta.<br />
“Perché?” è il primo romanzo di Fabio Barone, un noir<br />
ambientato a Como nato dall’esperienza quotidiana<br />
e frutto di un’attitudine innata nel raccontare, nel<br />
calare il lettore in uno scenario cinematografico<br />
nel quale l’immaginazione può correre e costruire<br />
paesaggi e situazioni. I protagonisti sono persone<br />
<strong>com</strong>uni, gente che attraversa i drammi e le gioie<br />

della vita di ogni giorno condito dal dramma<br />
psicologico di una società che, quando ti ritiene<br />

spesso drammatici. Un racconto avvincente che<br />
incatena il lettore in un susseguirsi di colpi di scena<br />
rendendo naturale il ritrovarsi caratterialmente in<br />
almeno uno dei personaggi. Una sola domanda<br />

L’autore<br />
Poliedrico. Basterebbe questa definizione a<br />
descrivere Fabio Barone, scrittore che si affaccia nel<br />
mondo del noir in punta di piedi ma con una volontà<br />
dirompente. Un personaggio la cui storia rimanda<br />
subito al pirandelliano uno, nessuno, centomila.<br />
Le tante sfaccettature di una personalità che ha<br />
dapprima esordito nello spettacolo, catalizzando<br />
l’attenzione e l’affetto di migliaia di persone nei<br />
villaggi turistici. Prosegue con lo studio presso<br />
il CTA di Milano (Centro Teatro Attivo), per poi<br />
approdare <strong>com</strong>e conduttore televisivo sul piccolo<br />

Eclectic. This definition would be enough to<br />
describe Fabio Barone, a writer who starts<br />
getting close to the world of noir novels in a<br />
disruptive way. A person, whose story make<br />
you go back to the novel of Pirandello “One,<br />
no one, one hundred thousand”. The different<br />
facets of a personality that first of all began in<br />
the entertainment, attracting the attention and<br />
the affection of thousands of people in the tourist<br />
villages. He continues his studies at the CTA<br />
in Milan (Active Theatre Center) and he starts<br />
working as a TV conductor. Actor, TV conductor<br />
and author: the career of Fabio Barone is made<br />
of many experiences which lead him to be<strong>com</strong>e<br />
a successful entrepreneur who wants to reach<br />
his goals.The same strength that pushes him to<br />
be<strong>com</strong>e a writer.<br />

La Sagra della Mela e dell’Uva è<br />
una delle manifestazioni enogastronomiche<br />
più importanti della<br />
provincia di Sondrio che, nel corso<br />
degli anni ha promosso con sempre<br />
maggiore risonanza la tradizione<br />
frutticola locale. Tra gli appuntamenti<br />
di maggior rilievo il concorso<br />
“La miglior mela di Valtellina”, aperto<br />
ai frutticoltori di tutta la provincia<br />
che potranno presentare mele<br />
delle varietà Stark e Golden. La<br />
manifestazione si svolge nel centro<br />
di Villa di Tirano e prevede incontri,<br />
mostre, serate danzanti, la tradizionale<br />
rassegna di canto corale e<br />
il mela-pedalo con trasferimenti in<br />
elicottero.<br />

illustre senatore. Questo è l’ormai mitico “Trofeo Vanoni”,<br />
un circuito di 7 km, dislivello di 500m con partenza e arrivo<br />
nel centro di Morbegno. Cinquantaquattro edizioni ininterrotte<br />
hanno permesso a questa manifestazione di crescere<br />
sino a diventare una gara internazionale di alto livello che<br />
ospita le migliori squadre europee di specialità.<br />

dell’<strong>Autunno</strong> Tiranese si animerà<br />
con il mercatino dei prodotti tipici e<br />
dell’artigianato locale; i palazzi del<br />
centro storico apriranno le loro corti<br />
per ospitare degustazioni di vini e<br />
prodotti gastronomici. Si potranno<br />
assaggiare il “Chisciol”, piatto<br />
tipico tiranese, (una sorta di frittella<br />
di grano saraceno e formaggio),<br />
le gustosissime frittelle di mele e<br />
i “Braschée” (caldarroste). I ristoranti<br />
del tiranese proporranno, per<br />
l’occasione, menù tipici dai sapori<br />
autunnali. Ad animare il fine settimana<br />
non mancheranno spettacoli<br />
