E LA SUA EREDITÀ<br />
In occasione del centenario della morte di<br />
Francesco Ballerini il CEFB (Centro di Egittologia<br />
Francesco Ballerini) organizza, in collaborazione con<br />
l’associazione Amici di Como, sabato 9 ottobre 2010<br />
una Giornata di Studi e una Mostra per promuovere<br />
la riscoperta non solo di un grande egittologo e<br />
orientalista italiano, ma anche di un importante<br />
cittadino <strong>com</strong>asco, poco conosciuto nella sua stessa<br />
città d’origine. Francesco Ballerini, nato a Como nel<br />
1877, subito dopo la laurea intraprende l’attività di<br />
insegnamento presso il ginnasio-liceo del “Collegio<br />
Gallio”. Nel 1902 inizia la collaborazione presso il<br />
Museo Egizio di Torino e fin da subito viene coinvolto<br />
nelle attività di ricerca sul campo promosse dal<br />
direttore Ernesto Schiaparelli: parteciperà a numerose<br />
missioni condotte in varie località dell’Egitto, fra cui si<br />
ricordano la Valle delle Regine, dove prese parte alla<br />
scoperta della tomba di Nefertari, e Deir el-Medinah<br />
a Tebe (Luxor).<br />

L’importanza della sua attività scientifica viene<br />
riconosciuta nel 1905, quando S.M. il Re d’Italia lo<br />
nomina Cavaliere della Corona d’Italia. Nel 1910, tuttavia,<br />
una improvvisa malattia lo priva prematuramente della<br />
vita. Gli interventi previsti per la Giornata di Studi, alla<br />
quale parteciperanno il dr. Christian Leblanc (CNRS –<br />
MAFTO, Mission archéologique française de Thèbes-<br />
Ouest), il dr. Beppe Moiso (ACME - Associazione Amici<br />
Collaboratori del Museo Egizio di Torino), la prof.ssa<br />
Patrizia Piacentini (Università degli Studi di Milano), il<br />
prof. Alessandro Roccati (Università degli Studi di Torino)<br />
e il dr. Angelo Sesana (CEFB – Centro di Egittologia<br />
Francesco Ballerini), permetteranno di ripercorrere le<br />
attività di Francesco Ballerini e le scoperte a cui diede<br />
un importante contributo, avvenute nel contesto della<br />
ricerca archeologica italiana in Egitto agli inizi del ‘900.<br />
Nella Mostra, che verrà inaugurata a conclusione della<br />
giornata, verranno esposti lettere e fotografie originali<br />
dello studioso.

FRANCESCO BALLERINI (1877-1910)<br />
AND HIS HERITAGE<br />
On the occasion of the centenary of Francesco Ballerini’s<br />
death, the CEFB – “Francesco Ballerini” Centre of<br />
Egyptology (with sponsorship from the “Amici di Como”<br />
Association) will hold a Study Day and Exhibition on<br />
Saturday 9th October 2010, in order to promote the<br />
rediscovery of a great Italian Egyptologist who was also<br />
an expert on Middle-Eastern civilizations, and who was<br />
regrettably little known in his native town of Como, but<br />
who nevertheless was a very active member of the Town<br />
Council and many other local organizations. Francesco<br />
Ballerini was born in Como in 1877. Immediately after<br />
having attained his degree, he was appointed as a<br />
teacher in the High School at “Collegio Gallio”. In 1902,<br />
he started collaborating with the Egyptian Museum in<br />
Turin, and at this time became a member of the Italian<br />
archaeological expedition to Egypt, headed by Ernesto<br />
Schiaparelli. Francesco Ballerini took part in many<br />
archaeological missions in various parts of Egypt, among<br />
which the Valley of the Queens, where he was directly<br />
involved in the discovery of the tomb of the Queen<br />

Nefertari, and Deir el-Medinah Thebes (Luxor), Qau el-<br />
Kebir, Asiut, Ermopoli, Giza and Eliopoli. The importance<br />
of his scientific activity was recognized by H.M. the King<br />
of Italy in 1905, when he was awarded the “Cavaliere della<br />
Corona d’Italia” (Knight of the Crown of Italy). In 1910, a<br />
sudden illness took him away too early. The presentations<br />
at the Study Day, in which Christian Leblanc (CNRS.<br />
MAFTO, Mission archéologique française de Thèbes-<br />
Ouest), Beppe Moiso (ACME - Association Friends and<br />
Collaborators of the Egyptian Museum in Turin), Patrizia<br />
Piacentini (The University of Milan), Alessandro Roccati<br />
(The University of Turin) and Angelo Sesana (CEFB –<br />
Centre of Egyptology “Francesco Ballerini”) are taking<br />
part, will remind participants of all the achievements of<br />
Francesco Ballerini and the discoveries to which he gave<br />
basic contributions thus be<strong>com</strong>ing an important member<br />
of Italian archaeological research taking place in Egypt at<br />
the beginning of the 20th Century. The Exhibition, which<br />
will officially open after the presentations, will feature<br />
letters and original photographs of the Italian scholar.<br />

ORTICOLARIO<br />
Orticolario torna per la sua seconda edizione dall’1<br />
al 3 ottobre 2010, ancora nell’esclusivo scenario<br />
di Villa Erba, a Cernobbio, “per un giardinaggio<br />
evoluto”, con tre giorni all’insegna dell’eccellenza di<br />
fiori e piante, presentate dai migliori vivaisti italiani e<br />
d’oltralpe. Particolare attenzione è dedicata all’aspetto<br />
scenografico ed estetico grazie a realizzazioni floreali<br />
di grande effetto, collocate al centro del padiglione<br />
centrale dove, con la collaborazione degli espositori,<br />
è allestito anche un giardino, una sorta di catalogo<br />
floreale, in cui viene esposto il meglio delle loro<br />
ricerche e produzioni. Per l’occasione, le essenze<br />
ivi contenute e le loro particolarità sono illustrate ai<br />
visitatori da personale proveniente dalla Fondazione<br />
Minoprio. Anche all’esterno, nel parco, è allestito un<br />
campo-catalogo con esemplari adatti a fioriture da<br />
aiuole e da giardino. All’interno dei padiglioni, in fondo<br />
alle due ali principali, sono creati due angoli “estetici”,<br />
curati rispettivamente dalla <strong>com</strong>asca Rattiflora e dalla<br />
siciliana Associazione Milazzo Flora. Il programma<br />
prevede anche conferenze, presentazioni di libri, corsi<br />
e workshop floreali, oltre a laboratori e animazioni per<br />
bambini e la possibilità, per tutti i visitatori, di effettuare<br />
un giro in mongolfiera o di ammirare i giardini di alcune<br />
ville del lago, normalmente non accessibili al pubblico.<br />
Orticolario è una iniziativa organizzata da Società<br />
Ortofloricola Comense e S.O.G.E.O srl, con il supporto<br />
di Orticola di Lombardia, con finalità sociale: i proventi<br />
della manifestazione sono devoluti ad associazioni del<br />
territorio impegnate nel volontariato.<br />

From 1st to 3rd October 2010 it is held the second edition<br />
of Orticolario, the location is still the exclusive scenery of<br />
Villa Erba in Cernobbio, “for an evolved gardening”, three<br />
days focused on the excellence of flowers and plants,<br />
presented by the best Italian and foreign flower and<br />
plant experts. A particular attention is dedicated to the<br />
scenografic and aesthetical aspect thanks to the flower<br />
<strong>com</strong>position of great effect in the center of a pavilion where<br />
you can find a garden too, it represents a sort of flower<br />
catalogue where the best researches and productions<br />
are exposed. For the occasion, the essences and their<br />
peculiarities are illustrated to the visitors by a staff of<br />
the Fondazione Minoprio. Also outside, in the park, a<br />
catalog field is prepared with some exemplars of flowerbeds<br />
and garden flowerings. Inside the pavilions, at the<br />
end of the two main wings, there are two “aesthetical”<br />
angles, prepared by the <strong>com</strong>pany from Como, Rattiflora<br />
and the Sicilian Association Milazzo Flora. The program<br />
also foresees lectures, book presentation, courses and<br />
floral workshops, besides laboratories and animations for<br />
children and the possibility, for all visitors, to go with the<br />
hot-air balloon and to admire the gardens of some villas<br />
on the lake, that usually cannot be visited. Orticolario is<br />
an initiative organized by Societa’ Ortofloricola Comense<br />
and S.Or.G.E.O srl, with the support of Orticola di<br />
Lombardia, with a charity aim: the proceeds of the event<br />

DARIO TAGLIABUE,<br />
LA SOCIETA’ DELL’ACQUA<br />
Le foto che presentiamo in questa pagina sono una<br />
piccolissima scelta dal lavoro di ricerca che Dario<br />
Tagliabue conduce da oltre trent’anni. In tutte le foto,<br />
anche in quelle più recenti che evidenziano il degrado di<br />
molti di questi manufatti, c’è l’identico interesse per una<br />
storia che, intorno all’acqua, sa raccontare le vicende<br />
delle persone. Oltre a quelli naturali, l’acqua “storica”<br />
aveva dei luoghi che ormai sono svaniti dalla memoria<br />
collettiva: le rogge e i mulini e, soprattutto, le fontane e<br />
i lavatoi. La fontana era il centro di approvvigionamento<br />
collettivo, un luogo sociale, di confronto e di scambio di<br />
idee. A Como - tanto per rendere evidente l’importanza<br />
dell’oggetto - a un “fontanile” erano intitolate ben tre<br />
vie. Intorno al lavatoio molte <strong>com</strong>petenze passavano<br />
di generazione in generazione, e si confrontavano le<br />
diverse esperienze, tra residenti e forestiere, tra anziane<br />
e giovani. Travolto dalla lavatrice privata, il lavatoio<br />
sopravvive oggi <strong>com</strong>e segno architettonico di austera<br />
funzionalità e di grande potenza “narrativa”.<br />

DARIO TAGLIABUE, THE SOCIETY OF THE WATER<br />
The pictures that are presented in this page are a small<br />
selection of a research work carried out by Dario Tagliabue<br />
for more than 30 years. In all the pictures, even in the most<br />
recent ones, that stress the degrade of many of these<br />
washtubs, there is the same interest for a history that,<br />
around the water, tells the history of the people. A part from<br />
the natural ones, the “historical” water had some places<br />
that now are forgotten: the irrigation ditches and the mills.<br />
The fountain was the center of the collective water supply,<br />
a real social place. In Como, just to stress the importance<br />
of the subject – three streets were dedicated to a drinking<br />
troughs. Around the washtubs many <strong>com</strong>petences passed<br />
from generation to generation and the different experiences<br />
were <strong>com</strong>pared between residents and foreigns, between<br />
old and young people. Swept away by the private washing<br />
machine, the washtubs survive today as an architectural<br />
sign of austere functionality and of great “narrative” power.

tema il contesto naturale del <strong>com</strong>asco. “Oltre a far<br />
conoscere aspetti ambientali del nostro territorio,<br />
a volte poco noti, con queste pubblicazioni<br />
intendiamo portare avanti una vera e propria<br />
politica di educazione ambientale rivolta a tutti<br />
e non solo, <strong>com</strong>e tradizionalmente si è portati a<br />
pensare, centrata sul mondo scolastico, – afferma<br />
l’Assessore Provinciale Paolo Mascetti. – Siamo<br />
infatti profondamente convinti che la <strong>com</strong>prensione<br />
delle dinamiche che hanno portato alla nascita<br />
del nostro meraviglioso contesto naturale, portino<br />
<strong>com</strong>e conseguenza un accresciuto rispetto per<br />
l’ambiente.” Nell’alveo di tali iniziative è stata di<br />
recente affrontata una tematica particolare, quella<br />
dei fossili, che ha sempre suscitato interesse anche<br />
in chi non è esperto o appassionato della materia, se<br />
non altro per il richiamo ad epoche smisuratamente<br />
lontane rispetto alla scala umana, le cui tracce di vita<br />
pietrificate si rinvengono oggi sui nostri monti. Grazie<br />
infatti ad Attilio Selva, appassionato ed esperto<br />
<strong>com</strong>asco, che ha messo a disposizione il materiale<br />
da lui elaborato in anni di ricerche, la Provincia ha<br />
potuto realizzare una bella pubblicazione (ritirabile<br />
gratuitamente presso l’Assessorato Ecologia<br />
della Provincia), contenente per la prima volta una<br />
sistematica e dettagliata descrizione dei ritrovamenti<br />
paleontologici effettuati nel corso degli anni sul<br />
territorio <strong>com</strong>asco. Il territorio della provincia di<br />
Como è infatti molto ricco di affioramenti fossiliferi,<br />
i cui ritrovamenti sono riconducibili ai principali<br />
periodi geologici. Tra i giacimenti più importanti vi<br />
è l’affioramento carbonifero della Val Sanagra, che<br />
ha permesso di portare alla luce fossili di oltre 310<br />
milioni di anni fa, formatisi nel periodo Carbonifero,<br />
in un ambiente dominato da foreste di felci giganti,<br />
licopodi e equiseti. I fossili della Val Sanagra sono<br />
in uno stato di conservazione tale da mostrare i<br />
dettagli minuti delle fronde delle felci e, fatto molto<br />
raro, contengono i primi semi <strong>com</strong>parsi nella storia<br />
della Terra. Un altro sito degno di nota è il giacimento<br />
giurassico di Osteno, noto a livello mondiale per<br />
l’eccezionale stato di conservazione dei fossili<br />
che mostrano peculiari dettagli anatomici <strong>com</strong>e le<br />
antenne e i muscoli dei crostacei. La fauna di Osteno<br />
consente di ricostruire una parte del Giurassico,<br />
caratterizzata dalla presenza di un ambiente marino<br />
particolarmente ricco di pesci e crostacei. Tra<br />
gli eccezionali ritrovamenti di Osteno si citano la<br />
Squaloraja, un pesce con caratteristiche intermedie<br />
tra squalo e la razza, o l’emblematico Ostenocaris<br />
cypriformis, uno strano animale che ha permesso<br />
agli studiosi di istituire una nuova classe di crostacei<br />
precedentemente sconosciuta alla scienza. Un’altra<br />
zona che merita attenzione è la Val Menaggio.<br />

Negli strati rocciosi di queste aree sono state<br />
individuate faune noriche (Triassico superiore)<br />
particolarmente ricche di pesci, in particolare<br />
i generi Saurichthys (che ricordano gli attuali<br />
barracuda) e Thoracoperus (pesci volanti). Fossili<br />
più recenti, <strong>com</strong>unque sempre risalenti a decine di<br />
milioni di anni fa, si rinvengono negli strati del Rosso<br />
Ammonitico Lombardo e della Maiolica, formazioni<br />
rocciose di età giurassico/cretacica che interessano<br />
il settore meridionale del Triangolo Lariano (Alpe del<br />
Vicerè), particolarmente ricche, <strong>com</strong>e ne attesta il<br />
nome, di ammoniti.<br />

Department of the Province of Como makes<br />
publications about the natural landscape on Lake<br />
Como.“Besides presenting the environmental<br />
aspects of our territory, that only a few know, with<br />
these publications we would pursue a real policy<br />
of environmental education for everybody and not<br />
just for schools, as someone may think”, says the<br />
Provincial Councillor Paolo Mascetti. Among these<br />
initiatives, recently it was faced a particular theme,<br />
the one of the fossils. They have always been a source<br />
of interest also for those who are not experts or<br />
impassioned of the subject, because they represent<br />
a call to the ancient times if <strong>com</strong>pared to the human<br />
beings, moreover their traces of petrified life can be<br />
found on our mountains today. Thanks to Attilio<br />

of the paleontological recoveries carried out during<br />
the years on the territory of Como. The territory of<br />
the province of Como is in fact very rich of fossils,<br />
whose recoveries are dated back to the principal<br />
geologic periods. Among the most important<br />
layers there is the carboniferous breakthrough of<br />
the Val Sanagra, that allowed to bring to the light<br />
fossils of over 310 million years ago, formed in the<br />
Carboniferous period, in an environment dominated<br />
by forests of giant ferns, club-moss and equisetum.<br />
The fossils of the Val Sanagra are in a state of such<br />
maintenance that they show the minute details of<br />
the leafy branches of the ferns and, a very rare thing,<br />
they contain the first seeds appeared in the history of<br />
the Earth. Another site worthy of note is the Jurassic<br />
layer of Osteno, it is known at world level for the<br />
exceptional state of maintenance of the fossils that<br />
show peculiar anatomical details as the spar and<br />
the muscles of the shellfishes. The fauna of Osteno<br />
allows to reconstruct a part of the Jurassic time,<br />
characterized by the presence of a sea environment<br />
which was particularly rich in fishes and shellfishes.<br />
Another area that deserves attention is the Val<br />
Menaggio. In the rocky layers of these areas noric<br />
faunas (superior Triassic) particularly rich in fishes<br />
is been individualized. More recent fossils, however<br />
always going back to about ten million years ago,<br />
are recovered in the layers of the Lombardy Red<br />
Ammonite, and of the Maiolica, rocky formations<br />
of Jurassic/cretacic age that interest the southern<br />
sector of the Triangolo Lariano (Alpe del Vicerè),<br />
which are particularly rich in ammonite.<br />

“L’ISOLA CHE C’ERA”<br />
L’Isola Comacina rappresenta per tutti gli abitanti del<br />
lago un luogo ricco di fascino e mistero. Negli anni,<br />
<strong>com</strong>plici anche le innumerevoli leggende che ruotano<br />
attorno a questa località, il mito dell’isola è cresciuto<br />
ed ha attirato visitatori e personaggi noti, da ogni parte<br />
del mondo. Albertina Nessi, autrice del libro “L’isola<br />
che c’era”, arrivato nel giro di pochi mesi alla seconda<br />
edizione, (editore Alessandro Dominioni), è figlia del<br />
“Cotoletta”, Lino Nessi, primo impavido locandiere di<br />
questo luogo. Ha vissuto per 27 anni sull’unica isola del<br />
lago di Como e ora ci invita ad immergerci nella storia di<br />
quell’originale, avventurosa ed affascinante esperienza<br />
di vita. «Questo romanzo nasce da una promessa<br />
fatta a mio padre -spiega l’autrice-. Ho intrecciato<br />
vicende personali, mie e della mia famiglia, con un po’<br />
di immaginazione, che mi ha permesso di trasformarle<br />
in un racconto». La memoria narra di misteriosi<br />
accadimenti e tragedie <strong>com</strong>battute con il rito del fuoco.<br />
Da dove nasce questo magico rituale? «Parto da<br />
lontano: nel 1948 una cordata di imprenditori decise<br />
di far rinascere l’isola e per farlo scelsero mio padre.<br />

Dal momento dell’apertura della locanda, una serie<br />
di accadimenti e fenomeni inquietanti, fece perdere<br />
l’iniziale entusiasmo: la gente del lago non vedeva di<br />
buon occhio il nuovo progetto, i clienti scarseggiavano,<br />
i contrabbandieri erano molto infastiditi dalla presenza<br />
di gente e, per finire, una serie di tragedie coinvolsero<br />
alcuni dei protagonisti dell’originaria cordata. Insomma,<br />
l’antica maledizione tornava a colpire. La chiave di volta<br />
fu l’incontro con una giornalista inglese, giunta sull’isola<br />
dopo essere venuta a conoscenza di questi fenomeni.<br />
Questo cambiò il destino dell’isola. Dopo una seduta<br />
spiritica, la reporter consigliò al “Cotoletta” il rito del<br />

luogo». Le voci narranti, Albertina e Lino Nessi, insieme<br />

ALBERTINA NESSI, “L’ISOLA CHE C’ERA”<br />
The Comacina island represents for all the inhabitants<br />
of the lake a place rich in charm and mystery. During<br />
the years, due also to the legends linked to this place,<br />
the myth of the island grew and it attracted visitors and<br />
important people from all over the world. Albertina Nessi,<br />
author of the book “L’isola che c’era” (The island as it<br />
was), which was printed in the second edition after few<br />
months, (publisher Alessandro Dominioni) is the daughter<br />
of the “Cotoletta”, Lino Nessi, first fearless landlord of<br />
this place. She lived 27 years on the only island of Lake<br />
Como and now she invites us to discover the story of<br />
that original, adventurous and fascinating life experience.<br />
“This novel was born for a promise I made to my father -<br />
explains the author -. I put together personal stories, mine<br />
and of my family with some imagination, that allowed me<br />
to turn it into a novel.” They are about mysterious events<br />
and tragedies fought with the rite of the fire. Where does<br />
this magic ritual <strong>com</strong>e from? “It is a long story: in 1948<br />
some entrepreneurs decided to make revive the island<br />

and to do it they chose my father. From the moment of<br />
the opening of the inn, a series of events and anxious<br />
phenomena made lose the initial enthusiasm: the people<br />
of the lake didn’t have a positive feeling about the new<br />
project, the clients were few, the smugglers were very<br />
annoyed from the presence of people and then, a series<br />
of tragedies involved some of the protagonists from<br />
the beginning of the project. In short, the ancient curse<br />
returned to strike. The solution was the meeting with an<br />
English journalist, she came on the island after she knew<br />
of these phenomena. She changed the destiny of the<br />
island. After a session, the reporter re<strong>com</strong>mended to the<br />
“Cotoletta” the rite of the fire and from that moment it<br />
has never abandoned the island and from sixty years,<br />
it defends the island from malignant spirits. From that<br />
evening, the curse abandoned that place.” The narrating<br />
voices, Albertina and Lino Nessi, together with the one<br />
of the lake, ac<strong>com</strong>pany the readers in a scheming story<br />
rich of magic, with the setting of a territory that wel<strong>com</strong>es<br />
and frames that piece of land, with its past full of art,<br />
spirituality, culture.
FRANCESCA ARRIGHI,<br />
PRODUCT DESIGNER<br />
L’avventura di Francesca, <strong>com</strong>asca lanciata nel<br />
mondo dell’architettura e del design, inizia nel<br />
febbraio 2008 quando, insieme al suo socio,<br />
Simone, inaugura lo studio Arrighi – Montanaro<br />
nella città della Madonnina. «Perché Milano e non<br />
Como?» le chiediamo subito. «Perché il design è<br />
Milano», ci risponde. Laureata in disegno industriale<br />
e con alle spalle alcune collaborazione con la Flou<br />
s.p.a. ed altri studi specializzati in contract, con i<br />
quali ha sviluppato diversi progetti di appartamenti<br />
extra-lusso, uffici e hotel sia in Italia che all’estero,<br />
Francesca Arrighi ci spiega in che cosa consiste oggi<br />
il suo impegno professionale e quello del suo studio:<br />
«Ci occupiamo della ristrutturazione di case private,<br />
oltre che di design di prodotto. In questo momento<br />
realizziamo soprattutto <strong>com</strong>plementi d’arredo e<br />
lampade, ma il desiderio sarebbe quello di ampliare i<br />

nostri orizzonti. Certamente questo non è un mondo<br />
facile, la concorrenza è spietata e molto spesso<br />
le aziende si dimostrano esterofile, scegliendo<br />
professionisti stranieri, piuttosto che affidarsi a<br />
designer italiani». Lo studio, nel 2010, si è aperto<br />
anche all’evento Fuori Salone con “Contaminazioni<br />
Lineari”: «Abbiamo affittato uno spazio in via<br />
Tortona, cuore dell’appuntamento milanese. I diversi<br />
ambienti a nostra disposizione ci hanno dato la<br />
possibilità di differenziare l’allestimento ed offrire al<br />
visitatore l’opportunità di effettuare un poliedrico<br />
“viaggio” fatto di forme e materiali differenti. Le sale<br />
erano allestite <strong>com</strong>e grandi vetrine perché fosse<br />
più immediata la <strong>com</strong>prensione e la conoscenza<br />
del prodotto. Uno degli aspetti più belli di questo<br />
lavoro è vedere la gente <strong>com</strong>une, e l’evento Fuori<br />
Salone dà anche questa chance, che si rapporta

con gli oggetti che realizzi. Un episodio che mi ha<br />
colpito particolarmente ha coinvolto una coppia<br />
di “non addetti ai lavori” che è rimasta affascinata<br />
da alcuni dei nostri oggetti, tanto da affermare,<br />
ad un mio tentativo di approccio per chiedere se<br />
avessero bisogno di aiuto, “stiamo ammirando!”.<br />
Riconoscimenti <strong>com</strong>e questo sono sicuramente<br />
il miglior premio per me». A proposito di premi, lo<br />
studio Arrighi - Montanaro ha partecipato ad un<br />
prestigioso concorso, lo “Young and Design”, indetto<br />
annualmente da Rima Editrice, con lo specchio<br />
“Plissé”, realizzato per Tonelli Design, con il quale<br />
ha ottenuto un meritato secondo posto. Tentiamo di<br />

2010, our studio took part in the event Fuori Salone<br />
with “Linear Contaminations”: “We rented an area<br />
in via Tortona, that is the heart of the event in Milan.<br />
The different rooms we had at disposal gave us the<br />
opportunity to create a multifaceted “journey” made<br />

IL MARCHIO CSU<br />
Csu è una società <strong>com</strong>asca vivace ed intraprendente che<br />
continua ad allargare i suoi orizzonti e proporre nuove<br />
idee per cercare di soddisfare le necessità del cliente, sia<br />
il <strong>com</strong>asco sia il turista occasionale. Nata per la gestione<br />
parcheggi, l’azienda ha progressivamente ampliato il<br />
proprio raggio di azione. Nel tempo ha consolidato tutte<br />
le prestazioni originarie e intrapreso, con successo e<br />
soddisfazione, altre attività. Nel vasto territorio del turismo<br />
per esempio Csu segue alcuni settori chiave quali la<br />
gestione del porto del primo bacino del lago, le grandi<br />
mostre, la riqualificazione urbana; si tratta di tasselli diversi<br />
che però possono essere ricondotti allo stesso mosaico.<br />
Analogo ragionamento va fatto per gli impianti sportivi,<br />
sia per la qualità della gestione che per la qualità della<br />
proposta. Un centro ben tenuto e propositivo può<br />
interessare le popolazioni locali ma anche le persone<br />
che vengono a Como per turismo. È il caso della piscina<br />
Sinigaglia. Un luogo per lo sport e per il benessere, e fra<br />
l’altro un luogo carico di fascino fin siecle. Nonostante<br />
si tratti di una struttura <strong>com</strong>pletamente rinnovata la<br />
Sinigaglia per nome e collocazione rappresenta infatti un<br />
bene saldamente inserito nella storia sportiva e culturale<br />
<strong>com</strong>asca. Csu ha preso in carico la piscina associando<br />
innovazione e funzionalità. Oltre al nuoto, l’impianto<br />
offre per esempio trampolini per i tuffi con piattaforme<br />
omologate dalla federazione. Mette a disposizione anche<br />
un’area wellnes con sauna e bagno turco. Ovviamente<br />
c’è la possibilità di acquistare un pacchetto <strong>com</strong>pleto o<br />
di fruire di <strong>com</strong>binazioni particolari. E Csu mette l’accento<br />
sul carattere davvero particolare dell’offerta: il lunedì<br />
e il giovedì, dalle 18 alle 21, addirittura, con la vasca<br />
occupata dai corsi di nuoto, resta infatti a disposizione lo<br />
spazio benessere vero valore aggiunto del centro<br />
La qualità i gestione di Csu si coglie anche nella capacità<br />
di andare incontro ai bisogni dei clienti. Ha suscitato<br />
interesse l’idea di aprire al mattino presto: il massimo<br />
per gli amanti del nuoto e per tutti quanti vogliono far<br />
precedere la giornata lavorativa con una sana attività<br />
fisica. La Sinigaglia è infatti aperta al pubblico tre giorni<br />
la settimana (il lunedì, martedì e il giovedì) sin dalle 7,15.<br />
Un piccolo gioiello, per il quale Csu sta studiando la<br />
possibilità di allacciare convenzioni con la rete alberghiera.<br />
THE CSU BRAND<br />
Csu is a dynamic and resourceful <strong>com</strong>pany of Como that<br />
continues and enlarges its horizons, it also proposes new<br />
ideas to try and meet the customers’ needs, both the<br />
people of Como and the occasional tourists. It was born to<br />
manage the parking places, then the <strong>com</strong>pany enlarged<br />
its horizons. It consolidated all the original services and it<br />
succesfully started other activities. It followed the same<br />
policy for sports facilities, both for the quality of the<br />
management and for the quality of the proposal. A wellorganized<br />
and active center can be a service not just for<br />
the people of Como, but also for the people who are in<br />
Como for tourism. This is the case of the swimming pool<br />
Sinigaglia. The quality of the management of Csu can also<br />
be seen in the ability of meeting the customers’ need. A<br />
small jewel, for which Csu is studying the possibility to<br />

“IO TI ASPETTO QUI”<br />
“Io ti aspetto qui” è il sequel de “L’amore imperdonabile”,<br />
il romanzo di Giuseppe Guin, giornalista del quotidiano<br />
La Provincia, che aveva lasciato con il fiato sospeso<br />
numerosissimi appassionati lettori. Ad un anno di<br />

DAL LAGO ALLA MONTAGNA<br />
Sulla sponda orientale del ramo lecchese del Lario,<br />
la superstrada verso Colico e Sondrio si delinea<br />
sotto le pareti del Monte San Martino fino ad Abbadia<br />
Lariana. Fa da spartitraffico una grande torre del XII<br />
secolo, detta la Torraccia, resto di una fortificazione<br />
medievale che dà il benvenuto al visitatore. Dove si<br />
devia per rientrare sul tracciato lacuale, la chiesa<br />
di San Martino biancheggia nelle muraglie del XIII-<br />
XV secolo, con qualche affresco; qui si distende il<br />
paese, attrezzato con spiagge. Un antico monastero<br />
ha dato il nome alla località; già dedicato a San<br />
Pietro dai benedettini ed unito a San Vincenzo in<br />
Prato di Milano nell’833, fu ricostruito nel 1272<br />
dai Serviti; ad essi appartenne il Conventino, ora<br />
abitazione privata, a lato della parrocchiale di San<br />
Lorenzo. Dei numerosi filatoi, rimane quello della<br />
famiglia Monti (circa 1818), ora Museo del Setificio,<br />
con ruote, canali, ed un altissimo piantello in tondo<br />
dell’epoca. Il paese vecchio sta a monte della<br />
ferrovia, con murature medievali, affreschi murali,<br />
caseggiati barocchi, fino alla chiesa neoclassica di<br />
San Rocco (1839). A regolare il sole in paese c’è<br />
l’imponente sagoma della Grigna Meridionale (2184<br />
m), mentre le finestre rivolte al lago si affacciano sul<br />

profilo montuoso del Triangolo Lariano. La recente<br />
riqualificazione della passeggiata sul lago regala,<br />
inoltre, momenti di relax ed ampi scorci di lago.<br />
Fanno parte del <strong>com</strong>une di Abbadia Lariana, oltre<br />
che di Mandello del Lario, Ballabio e Lecco, anche<br />
i Piani Resinelli, un vasto altopiano pianeggiante<br />
tra i 1200 e i 1300 m d’altezza. La località è<br />
adagiata ai piedi della Grignetta ed è costituita<br />
da una distesa di prati tra boschi di faggi, betulle<br />
e conifere, dolcemente digradanti verso Abbadia<br />
e Mandello. I Piani Resinelli si propongono <strong>com</strong>e<br />
centro alpinistico tra i più importanti d’Italia, con un<br />
ampio ventaglio di possibilità sportive: traversate<br />
ed ascensioni, facili ed impegnative e numerose vie<br />
di roccia di ogni grado di difficoltà ne fanno una<br />
palestra tra le più belle e frequentate. Notevole<br />
anche il Museo Naturalistico delle Grigne che<br />
offre un’interessante carrellata su tutti gli aspetti<br />
paesaggistici e naturalistici del gruppo delle Grigne.<br />
Ai Piani Resinelli esiste anche una <strong>com</strong>plessa rete<br />
di miniere che continua a stupire per le recenti<br />
scoperte di nuovi cunicoli, binari e di un carrello in<br />
ottimo stato di conservazione, diventate percorso<br />
di visite guidate.

On the oriental bank of the branch of Lecco on Lake<br />
Como, the freeway towards Colico and Sondrio is<br />
delineated under Monte San Martino until Abbadia<br />
Lariana. The divider is a huge tower dated back to<br />
the 12th century, called the Torraccia, it is part of<br />
a medieval fortification that wel<strong>com</strong>es the visitors.<br />
In the point where you change direction to follow<br />
the lake shores, the church of San Martino can<br />
be seen through the 13th and 14th century walls<br />
with some frescos; here the village is equipped<br />
with beaches. The place is named after an ancient<br />
monastery; it was already dedicated to San Pietro<br />
dei benedettini and linked to San Vincenzo in Prato<br />
of Milan in 833; in 1272 it was rebuilt by the Serviti;<br />
the Small convent is their property and now it is a<br />
private residence, at the side of the parish church<br />
of San Lorenzo. Of the numerous spinning wheels,<br />
it remains just the one of the Monti family (around<br />
1818), now it is the Silk Museum, with wheels,<br />
channels and a high ancient round throwing-mill.<br />
The old village is above the railway, with medieval<br />
walls, mural frescos, baroque houses, up to the<br />
neoclassical church of San Rocco (1839). The<br />
sun in the village is regulated by the imposing<br />
outline of the Mountain Grigna Meridionale (2184<br />

meters), while the windows in direction of the<br />
lake lean out on the mountainous profile of the<br />
Triangolo Lariano. The recent requalification of the<br />
walk on the lake promenade gives also moments<br />
of relax and wide views of the lake. The Piani<br />
Resinelli are part of the municipalities of Abbadia<br />
Lariana, Mandello del Lario, Ballabio and Lecco,<br />
they are a big level plateau about 1200 and 1300<br />
meters high. The place is located at the feet of the<br />
Grignetta and it is made of lawns among woods of<br />
beech trees, birch trees and conifers, which softly<br />
descending towards Abbadia and Mandello. The<br />
Piani Resinelli are one of the most important alpine<br />
center in Italy, with many sports opportunities: easy<br />
and difficult crossing and climbing, and many rock<br />
streets of different difficulty levels make them one<br />
of the most beautiful and attended rock gym. The<br />
Naturalistic Museum of the Grigne is also notable,<br />
it offers an interesting range of landscapes and<br />
naturalistic aspects of the group of Grigne. At the<br />
Piani Resinelli it also exists a <strong>com</strong>plex net of mines,<br />
which still surprises for the recent discoveries of<br />
new burrows, binaries and a cart in good state of<br />
maintenance, which represents a destination for<br />
tourists.
