CURRICULUM VITAE SINTETICO
Nato ad Avezzano (Aq) il 05/08/1949.
Laureato nel 1973 in Chimica Industriale presso l’Università La sapienza di Roma (110/110 e lode).
Ricercatore presso l’Istituto di Ricerca sulle Acque (IRSA) dal 1975.
Dirigente di Ricerca dal 2001.
Direttore dell’Istituto di Ricerca sulle Acque dal 16 settembre 2008.
Associate Editor della rivista internazionale Marine Chemistry dal 1999.
Membro del Comitato Tecnico Scientifico istituito presso la Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri -
Dipartimento della Protezione Civile per la lotta agli inquinamenti marini da idrocarburi e altre sostanze
nocive dal 1992.
Membro del Consiglio Scientifico dell’Istituto di Ricerche sulla Pesca Marittima del CNR dal 1993 al 1999.
Membro della Commissione Metodi Analitici, che ha portato alla pubblicazione nel 2003 della nuova collana
di Metodi Analitici per le Acque da parte di IRSA e APAT.
Rappresentante CNR nel Comitato di Coordinamento del Protocollo d’Intesa tra il CNR e l’Istituto Superiore
per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale (ISPRA) da marzo 2010.
Ha effettuato stages all’estero presso i laboratori del Netherland Institut of Sea Research, ospite del prof. Jan
C. Duinker (Texel) nel 1978 e presso il dipartimento di Marine and Atmospheric Chemistry (University
of Miami), ospite del prof. F.J. Millero nel 1986.
E’ stato responsabile di attività di ricerca nell’ambito di progetti nazionali e internazionali ed ha svolto attività
di consulenza presso il Ministero dell’Ambiente in merito a problematiche concernenti il rilascio di
autorizzazioni per lo scarico in mare di fanghi di risulta da operazioni di dragaggio, standard di qualità
ambientali per acque interne e marine, carichi massimi ammissibili e limiti agli scarichi per la laguna di
Venezia.
Si è occupato di: trasporto e speciazione di metalli, cinetiche di processi redox che influenzano le interazioni
metalli-biota, circolazione del carbonio e dei nutrienti, eutrofizzazione, sviluppo e messa a punto di
metodologie analitiche, standard di qualità per inquinanti, classificazione ecologica dei corpi idrici.
Ha curato come relatore esterno il lavoro di tesi di laureandi in Chimica Industriale e Chimica (relatori
interni: Prof. R. Passino e Prof. L. Campanella – La Sapienza) ed ha seguito come tutor la formazione di
borsisti, post-dottorato, personale a contratto e assegnisti. Ha svolto attività di referee per numerose
riviste internazionali e per valutare proposte di ricerca sottomesse alla US National Science Foundation e
alla National Research Foundation (South Africa).
E’ autore di circa 160 articoli di cui oltre 60 su riviste/proceedings/libri internazionali (dal database SCOPUS
a luglio 2009: h-index = 17; citazioni totali = 640).
