96ANNI vissuti bene 1919 - 2015 96 WELL-LIVED YEARS La storia del Moto Club Bergamo è un tema che è già stato ampiamente trattato ma, nonostante questo, riteniamo sia interessante riproporlo in quanto un tuffo nel passato, quando è glorioso come quello del BERGAMO, è sempre affascinante. Sono trascorsi 61 anni da quando il Moto Club Bergamo è stato registrato ufficialmente all’anagrafe del motociclismo italiano, ma, in effetti, la sua apparizione vanta un’anzianità superiore di qualche anno: le basi del motociclismo bergamasco furono gettate infatti nel 1919. L’Italia di allora stava riprendendo i contatti con la vita, dopo il terribile conflitto mondiale, ed il motociclismo segnò la sua difficile ripresa su The history of Bergamo Motorcycling Club is a subject that has been widely dealt with but, nonetheless, we believe it is interesting to propose it again as plunging in such a glorious past, as the Bergamo's one, is always fascinating. Now, 61 years have gone through since when the Bergamo Motorcycling Club has been officially registered into the Italian Motorcycle Register, but it was actually created few years earlier: as a matter of fact the Bergamo motorcycling did first appear on 1919. At that time Italy was coming back to life after the terrible world war. Motorcycling marked its hard start back on difficult roads tormented by deep holes, dust and stones. Le moto di allora portavano nomi tutti italiani: GARELLI - BENELLI – BIANCHI – BORGO – BUCHER.ZEDA – DELLA FERRERA – FONGRI – FRERA – GILERA – MAFFEIS – STUCCHI. Poi c’erano gli uomini e le gare, che adesso rivediamo con la patina ed il rispetto della nostalgia, il Raid Nord Sud con i coraggiosissimi Miro Maffeis, Isacco Mariani, Pierino Maggi, Mario Acerboni…… . There were the men and the competitions that now we look at through the coat and the respect of nostalgia: the North-South raid with the brave Miro Maffeis, Isacco Mariani, Pierino Maggi, Mario Acerboni….. In un clima tanto “ruggente“ ecco un gruppo di appassionati bergamaschi dare vita a quello che sarebbe diventato, in pochi anni, il Moto Club più importante d’Italia : il promotore dell’iniziativa fu Arnaldo Ne’, padrino Paolo Serafini. Il Moto Club Bergamo (anno 1919), iniziò i primi passi con gite turistiche, qualche gara, come la Bergamo-San Vigilio (1923-1930) vinta da Sestini su Indian, e subito si delineò chiaro lo stile di vita, uno stile che avrebbe in seguito distinto tutte le manifestazioni della Società: la tecnica senza prove più esasperate non può progredire, più aspri sono gli ostacoli, tanto più utili si rivelano le corse. In quella prima fase, che fu di grande attività, furono molti gli sportivi che diedero grande impulso allo sport della motocicletta: Luigi Chiorda, Cecco Ruggeri, Grazioli, Crippa, Aldo Dall’Ara ….. . Ma facciamo un passo avanti e arriviamo al 1925. In Italia , allora, circolavano motociclette di ben 164 marche diverse, 85 italiane e 79 straniere, e già cominciava a farsi strada, nella tendenza costruttiva, una “coscienza“ del silenziamento. L’A.N.C.M.A., in omaggio al suo programma di stimolare il progresso della motocicletta, si preoccupava di annullare l’effetto rumore. Vi fu persino un concorso per il silenziatore più efficace, certo non si parlava ancora di phon e di decibel , non esisteva il fonometro, ma la mentalità precorreva i tempi. Il Moto Club Bergamo andava a gonfie vele, la sede era al Caffè Savoia, poi i soci passarono al Duse, ed a presiedere vi era un grande sportivo: Angelo Gnecchi. Il primo ciclo di vita si concluse felicemente nel 1929 con, il primo titolo di Campione d’Italia vinto da Ugo Rocca. Alberto Bonacossa. The Motorcycling Club Bergamo (year 1919) moved its first steps with some tourist tours and competitions such as the Bergamo-San Vigilio, won by Sestini on Indian. It was than immediately clear which was its way of living: a way that will have been marking all the events of this club: the technique cannot progress without more serious tests, the more difficult the obstacles, the more useful the competitions. During that first period, which was full of activities, there were a lot of sportsmen that gave a strong propulsion to the motorcycling sport: Luigi Chiorda, Ceccco Ruggeri, Grazioli, Crippa, Aldo Dall'Ara… But let's jump forward to the year 1925. At that time Italian roads were run by motorcycles of 164 different brands, 85 were Italian and 79 were foreigner. And manufacturers were starting to produce with a "conscience" for exhaust silencers. The ANCMA, in accordance with its programme of pushing the motorcycle progress, did indeed care about the noise effect. A contest for the most efficient silencer was organised, there were no mentioning of phon and decibel yet, and no phonometers existed at the time, but the mentality was beforing our time. The Moto Club Bergamo was full sails, its headquarter was the Caffè Savoia, than the members moved to the Duse and its president was a great sport man: Angelo Gnecchi. The first period of the Motorcycling Club life happily ended in 1929, with the first title as Italian Champion that goes to Ugo Rocca. 1949 - Mino Baracchi e Pres.
