Jørgen Høj (1925) – Denmark<br />

A woodworker, metal specialist and winner <strong>of</strong> a silver medal<br />

at the Danish Arts and Crafts School (1947), Jørgen Høj has<br />

directed his design studio since 1955.<br />

JH106 This <strong>linen</strong> cord chair on a blond wood structure, designed<br />

with Poul Kjærholm in 1952 for the Thorvald Madsen workshop,<br />

perfect sums up modernist criteria. Discrete, yet with a presence,<br />

linking geometry and transparency, it triggers a sophisticated<br />

dialogue with the surrounding decor.<br />

disegnata con Poul Kjærholm nel 1952 per lo Studio Thorvald Madsen,<br />

Poul Kjaerholm (1929 – 1980) – Denmark<br />

A Danish design legend thanks to his uncompromising creations,<br />

the Grand Prize winner at the Milan Triennale (1957,1960) and the<br />

1958 winner <strong>of</strong> the Lunning Prize (the design world’s Nobel prize),<br />

the creator <strong>of</strong> this chair, edited by Fritz Hansen, is exhibited at the<br />

MOMA in New York and at the National Arts Center <strong>of</strong> Tokyo.<br />

PK25 <strong>The</strong> pure-bred, minimal PK 25 chair (1952), sums up his<br />

natural, innovative style. <strong>Linen</strong> halyards (natural or dyed black)<br />

weave a supple seat on a chrome structure.<br />

Jorgen Hovelskov – Denmark<br />

<strong>The</strong> Harp Chair, 1968 <strong>The</strong> Harp or Viking Chair is inspired by<br />

the prow <strong>of</strong> a Viking drakkar. Its seat and back are composed <strong>of</strong> a<br />

network <strong>of</strong> woven, tense cords strung on a cross-shaped, slim-legged<br />

chassis in ash. This icon <strong>of</strong> Scandinavian design, which creates a<br />

strong optical effect melding into extreme comfort, is part <strong>of</strong> many<br />

private collections including that <strong>of</strong> Silvia Fendi in Rome.<br />

Jorgen Hovelskov – Danimarca<br />

La Sedia Harpe o Viking, 1968 Ispirata <strong>all</strong>a prua di un drakkar vichingo,<br />

questa sedia presenta una struttura in frassino scuro, mentre la seduta e lo<br />

schienale sono composti da una rete di cordame intrecciato e teso su una<br />

crociera con piedi pr<strong>of</strong>ilati. Questa icona del design scandinavo, che crea<br />

un potente effetto ottico <strong>all</strong>’origine di un estremo confort, fa parte di<br />

numerose collezioni private tra cui quella di Silvia Fendi a Roma.<br />
