È quasi mezzanotte e una nebbia sottile avvolge la metro
poli addormentata. In un palazzo di quattro piani, dentro
un appartamento disabitato, un frigorifero va in cortocir
cuito. Le fiamme, lente e invisibili dall’esterno, iniziano a
divorare ciò che trovano. Due piani più in alto, Alice scivo
la nel sonno mentre aspetta il ritorno di Matthias, il ragaz
zo che ama con una passione per lei nuova e del quale
non è ancora riuscita a parlare a sua madre, che abita lon
tano e vorrebbe sapere tutto di lei. Anche Bastien, il figlio
della signora che occupa un altro degli interni, da troppi
mesi ormai avrebbe qualcosa di cruciale da rivelare alla
madre, ma sa che potrebbe spezzarle il cuore e non trova
il coraggio. È un altro tipo di coraggio quello che invece
manca a Polina, ex ballerina classica, incapace di accetta
re il proprio corpo dopo la maternità, tantomeno il pianto
incessante del suo bambino nella stanza accanto. Giù in
strada, nel negozio di fronte, Hulya sta pensando proprio
a lei, come capita sempre più spesso, senza averglielo
mai confessato, ma con una voglia matta di farlo. Per tutti
loro non c’è più tempo: un mostro di fuoco sta per stra
volgere ogni prospettiva, costringendoli a scelte estreme
per colmare quei silenzi, o per dare loro un nuovo signifi

confessed to him, but with a mad desire to do so. For all
of them there is no more time: a monster of fire is about
to revolutionize every perspective, forcing them to make
extreme choices to fill those silences, or to give them a
