FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti®, Division of Iris Ceramica S.p.A., within the framework of its research and innovation project, has developed a new production
method geared towards materials whose active principle helps to improve the quality of the environment. This production methodology makes it possible to
create ceramic floor and wall tiles able to carry out a specific antibacterial action and to cut polluting factors that are, unfortunately, a constant presence in
contemporary urban environments. With Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic, today it is possible to use, inside and outside buildings, materials that make an
“active” contribution to creating a better atmosphere – and a cleaner environment.
WHAT’S BEHIND ACTIVE
Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic is the result of a titanium dioxide treatment carried out on our slabs at high temperatures. TiO2 binds closely with the
materials, guaranteeing lasting effectiveness. The new methodology employs a micrometric rather than nanometric dimension of the photocatalytic matter.
Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic is particularly suitable for laying on ventilated walls: thanks to the self-cleaning properties of the surface, the appearance
of the product remains unaltered over time.
USES
In response to the increasing acutely felt need to reduce air pollution, FMG has undertaken a project bringing together research, technology and environment
that offers Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic as an indispensable material for town planning, healthcare facilities and Public Works: in kindergartens and
schools, gyms, theatres, hospitals, wellness centres, restaurants, hotels, shopping malls etc.

Structures tiled with materials that contain titanium dioxide make it possible to reduce the level of atmospheric pollutants that are dangerous to health,

Active Clean Air & Antibacterial Ceramic has been certified by the US laboratories of the TCNA (Tile Council of North America) and by the Ceramic Centre
in Bologna, the department of Bologna University which works towards spreading scientific and technological developments within the ceramics industry.
